As long as it's at least something fresher than Afterlife's nostalgia-fest, I'll consider it a marked improvement. That sounds pretty fair. |

Attitude era had like 10 credible main event wrestlers at the same time on any given show. WCW went crazy but having unpredictably with legit star talent every night isn't a bad thing. Not really. The Ruthless Aggression era did, but that's because they put WCW out of business and inherited their champions. The Attitude Era began shortly after Survivor Series 1997 and ended with WrestleMania X-7 in 2001. In 1997, you had Undertaker who was a former champion and Shawn Michaels who who was the current champion. In 1998, Steve Austin retired Shawn Michaels to become the new champion. Over the course of the year, The Rock and Kane (briefly) would also become champions. At times, all champions current or past could fit into a single tag match. In 1999, Mankind, Big Show, and Triple H became champions for the first time. (Also, Vince McMahon. But, come on, do we have to count him?) By the end of 1999, Steve Austin and Undertaker would leave the company for the better part of a year to deal with injuries. Mankind actually postponed his retirement to compensate for the lack of star power in their absence. By spring of 2000, he would be gone as well. Part of the reason that the Rock/HHH rivalry was so epic was because, for a time, there was nobody else for them to fight. Later that year, Austin and Undertaker would return and Kurt Angle would become the final first-time champion of the Attitude Era. In early 2001, Big Show would return. At the close of the Attitude Era, you had as follows: Steve Austin (current champion), The Rock, Undertaker, Kane, Triple H Big Show, and Kurt Angle. Seven is nothing to sneeze at, but it wasn't ten guys you could place the belt on at any given time. Chris Jericho was briefly teased as getting a main event push, but that didn't happen until December of 2001. Even if you counted him, that still brings the count up to eight. Several wrestlers would go on to become champions, but they weren't passing the belt back and forth during the Attitude Era between a bunch of different guys. They were mostly passing it back and forth between the same three people or four people at any given point. |

Makes you miss the Attitude era. Lengthy title reigns are better than short ones. It builds title credibility. If you hot potato the belt, it doesn't matter who has it. That's one of the things that killed WCW. I hate that Roman Reigns's Hulk Hogan / Bruno Sammartino reign is coming about out of spite over Vince fighting with fans, but it is nice to have a reign that is counted in months or years rather than weeks or days. |

College-related, I went to a sporting event with four women. It was for my ASL course. I attended a basketball game at a Deaf school. We had to attend two out of four events outside of the college and this was the only one that didn't conflict with my schedule. (Or wasn't ridiculously out of the way.) I was grateful to be able to go along with the other students so that I wasn't this awkward lone guy watching 14-year-old girls play basketball. <_< |

Doesn't seem he wants to continue too much. It's rare that you find an actor who wants to play a superhero indefinitely. It's about as common as finding an actor who doesn't mind having their face hidden. People need to get over the stigma of recasting actors. It's better to have heroes look different after three to five films than it is to have them killed off or sucked into a wormhole where they'll reemerge years later if their career outside of the MCU doesn't work out. The characters mean more than the actors anyway. That's one of the many reasons actors don't love playing superheroes. They want you to care more about their handsome faces and Hollywood icon magnetism than you care about some silly guy who begrudgingly puts on a costume for three scenes in a movie. |

The gimmick about the two characters switching places when they use their powers is interesting, but the characters just come across as bland. Kamala looks like the only one who's gonna have any personality to speak of. "You're so strong," isn't really a selling point for me. And don't call me sexist because I saw Black Widow in the theater. Even when you get past right-wingers complaining about woke Disney or forced feminism, would it really make a difference if this was about Ant-Man and Winter Soldier? I don't know if people are over superheroes in general or if they're tired of superheroes whose names they didn't know from childhood. But I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I don't predict Marvel's fortunes will improve until they get an X-Men movie. And if that one underperforms, then you know people are over superhero movies. Unless the X-Men reboot is about Storm - in which case we'll have people complaining that it's because Disney went woke. Last time I checked, the most recent Disney protagonist to have a penis didn't do too well either. |
