Velma

I don't think it was a great show by any stretch of the imagination, but it did get a few chuckles out of me.

Fred and Daphne were the best parts.

Game of Thrones (was not watching with 100% attention, second viewing I was much more interested)
Only Murders in the Building (thought it was a fun little background show sitcom style so I was also not paying close enough attention)
Archer (the humor just didn't connect with me the first time)

Die Hard With a Vengeance

It came out during the week I graduated high school, and I had been out at senior parties the whole night before. I saw it the next day and was cranky and kept falling asleep after a night when I hadnt slept at all. When I was awake, it wasnt a cookie cutter of 1 and 2 that I was expecting, and I was annoyed.

I watched it again a few months later and thought it was so great. Jackson and Willis meshed well together and it was different in clever ways from the first two films. I was just in the completely wrong mood and place when I saw it the first time.

The entire sequence where she sabotages the teleprompter and we see the results is one of my favorite parts of any comedy ever.

One Piece, actually. And the anime, not the live action one.

Like happened with some others here, first time I tried "watching" it, I wasn't giving it a lot of attention. It was already so long I figured I could just throw it on for background noise (dubbed for that purpose, obviously). Didn't get at all invested or interested, and dropped it shortly after they got Chopper.

I was running out of watch-while-exercising fodder (I like to watch subtitled things doing that because they're guaranteed my attention enough to read), and decided, "Fuck it, if I pick up One Piece that's going to fill the spot for like two years." Even watching all the filler, I'm actually liking it a lot, and it's probably my favorite shonen now. For reference, I'm around episode 360, Thriller Bark stuff.

The first time I tried to watch Star Trek: Lower Decks I couldn't get through the first episode. I didn't like it at all. Eventually, I heard so many good things I decided to give it another shot and now I love it. The crossover episode with Strange New Worlds was really good too.

Lots of early 2000's Korean movies. At first I found them too slow, but after getting used to that style can really appreciate them (e.g. Peppermint Candy, Failan, Oasis)

I tend to go the opposite way, where shows I watch progressively get worse, and I continue to watch them out of a sense of obligation.

I rarely give a show or movie a second chance after I feel like I didn't enjoy it.

Nah I meant the actual anime. But I did like the live action movie. It played the story safe by not doing anything much different from the anime and animated movies other than adding in the mother, but I liked it.

That was the same for me. I think I watched the pilot three times at various points before I really gave it a chance and now I love the show. Agreed about the SNW episode, it was great.

I liked it, but I think it should have remained Simon Says.

John McClane makes a cameo appearance in that movie when he jokes about a fat guy in a red suit and some elves. The rest of the film, it's just Bruce Willis playing Bruce Willis.

Breaking Bad - Would finish the first season and not care to start the second. Finally sat down and watched it all and it's a 10/10 show.

Trailer Park Boys - I couldn't even make it through the first season on two attempts. One night it just clicked and I got through it all. Great show.

Attack on Titan

I thought the first season was badly paced (I still think that tbf), but I gave it another shot after its last season came out. That was, of course, like four years ago and we're finally getting the final final final season.

South Pacific and musicals in general

My mother loves musicals, and I did not like them as a young kid, but grew into them as a teenager.

Blade Runner. I didn't get what the movie was trying to do, expected a more conventional sci-fi story like Star Trek or something, so I thought it was boring AF and hated it. But when I stopped throwing my own expectations at the movie and just saw it for what it is, it actually became one of my favorite sci-fi movies.

Another was Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. I loved the TV show and then here comes the movie being all doom and gloom and hardly any humor, plus I saw it as a retread of what had already been done instead of moving the story forward. But then I realized the story is mostly being told from Laura Palmer's perspective, and as it's a story of sexual abuse, Twin Peaks isn't this quaint or quirky town for her, it's a living hell. And because it's told from her perspective, it is a necessary story, because the show might've told the details of the situation, but it never had that.
