Being found liable is the civil case equivalent of being found guilty.

The Dems are not a do-nothing party, they got a lot done in the 2 years they had Congress and the Presidency. I know it'll never be enough for people like you because you'll just say it wasn't enough and they could have done more, but some things like Biden standing with the union on the picket line was a first in history. The Inflation Reduction Act is objectively helping our nation. We have the lowest unemployment since the 60s. We've managed to avoid a recession and have one of the best inflation recovery rates with an economy frequently surpassing expectations. Billions in student debt forgiveness. A ton of confirmed federal judges. Child poverty was cut in half until all of the Senate GOP and Joe Fucking Manchin decided they couldn't have that. He's the first POTUS to work towards ending reaganomics by actually investing heavily into society and communities similar to FDR and Johnson. While he's done disappointing things regarding oil drilling permits, he's also been the one to invest most heavily into green initiatives.

What we've seen is that the more Dems gain control of federal government and the more they're able to pass the more good they do.

Yes, it would be way better if we had more progressives and they could go further, however absent of the rights and freedoms Republicans are taking away from us, this is one of the best spots our country's been in for decades.

As one of my favorite progressive pundits, John Fugelsang, likes to say, he likes old man Biden way more than 90s Biden because he's evolved on a ton of issues. He shows actual growth as a human, whereas the Republicans just deepen their degeneracy.

I'm a realist who looks at our political system pragmatically.

You don't have to be a registered Dem, but if you vote 3rd party or not at all then you are indirectly voting for whoever does win, because you could have voted against them, and instead you essentially threw your vote away to blow yourself over how principled you are.

There was a former poster on 261 who frequently did that, kept saying he wouldn't betray his principles and blah blah blah.

And especially since the Republican party is the way they are, those who "stood by their principles" in 2016 and didn't vote at all essentially made it easier for every woman they know to lose their right to bodily autonomy. I don't follow the news as much now. For progressive media mostly stuff like TYT, but I swear they haven't even talked about this.

All 4 of the progressive pundits I listen to on SiriusXM's Progress channel have talked about it frequently.

They may be "biased" because they're progressive, but they're also the only media I've seen give the actual truth and consequences of what the either party says/does.

I sometimes listen to the center-right channel there just to see what the other side has to say, and they frequently apologize for Republican behavior/actions or just don't ask any sort of follow-up questions while Republicans blatantly lie to their face. Their town halls they've hosted for Repub candidates have also been suckfests. They also do this thing where they talk about the "small extreme minority within the Republican Party", yet they consider people like Nancy Mace to be "moderate voices", because she lies to the media like a moderate and votes like every other Christo-fascist.

Disappointing, but not surprised. The legal system has made it clear they want to take a very limp & weak hand to holding former President's accountable.

As I've heard it pointed out, the Cons. doesn't say the person needs to be convicted of insurrection, just to have engaged in it, and there is no insurrection without Donald Trump's intentional lies & conspiracies. If he had accepted that he lost there would be no Jan 6th.

I remember a few years ago I saw some politician being interviewed by the BBC or something. I can't remember who it was, but I remember it being so refreshing to see a reporter actually press in on something the politician was trying to equivocate and dodge.

Agreed on both of those. I listen to the BBC fairly often and the difference in journalism is night and day.

2 great recent examples of this:

1) Joe Biden is old, why he so old lmao (meanwhile the obvious GOP candidate is a dude 3 years younger, the former oldest POTUS, and who once said he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose any votes, among many other things)

2) Recently when Mike Johnson gave a presser on how he wants to fund support for Israel by cutting all new funding to the IRS and used the phrase "fiscally responsible" like 12 times, not a single reporter there called him out on the fact that every report shows cutting that funding will ultimately lead to like -14bn in revenue due to uncollected taxes (IE funding)

They frequently let these Republicans come onto their shows and spew their bullshit narratives without any pushback. I once heard someone on the POTUS channel of SiriusXM, Julie Mason, have a federal House member from IA come onto her show and say "Dems want to allow abortions up to the time of birth" and Julie Mason didn't say not one fucking thing about how that's only in extreme cases or even that post 2nd trimester abortions make up like 2.7%

One of my progressive radio pundits on SiriusXM, who is a contributor for MSNBC and CNN frequently talks about how he's not allowed to call them Christian Nationalist/Christo-fascists or fascists in general, to do so he has to quote a governmental official about something, but they won't let him actually tell it as it is because "what will the Republican viewers we hope to appease think?! We don't want to seem biased and unfair!"

They're Christo-fascists directly or support candidates who have those policies, fuck them and what they think.

These fuckers will stand by and at times even help facilitate the success of these Christo-fascists for ratings and access journalism.

It's sickening and it won't save their asses after they help the Christo-fascists enact the state they want, which obviously won't allow free press.

People make fun of the alternate timeline conspiracy theories all the time, but reading those quotes made me feel like this just can't be real. Such an unhinged, irresponsible nutjob living in a fantasy land can't really have this much power over our country, can he? This is WAY worse than Trump.

It's actually very par for the course as far as U.S. evangelical fundamentalist "Christians" go. I've heard journalists and experts who study this stuff talk about how he's not unique at all when you get into the realm of people who think like him. We just haven't had anybody like that in a position of power or at least not in modern times.
