I don't think I've ever had anyone get mad at me for not being a Republican or Democrat. Have definitely had people get mad for refusing to play the "obligated to vote for the lesser of two evils" game, though.

The mod removed gender selection and binary gender pronouns from the game. Making the character gender neutral.

2024 could end up with four or more candidates that get above 1% of the vote. That doesn't make it a healthy race or diminish the dire risk to the country itself.

Unless someone comes into the race above 5% from day one, they are very much a spoiler. Honestly, the spoiler effect doesn't go away until it's a somewhat even three or four-way race. I don't know how anyone can understand that then still come to the conclusion that they should vote third party or stay home.

It's not the lesser of two evils, it's accepting the circumstances. It doesn't matter whether Trump or Biden is the one getting screwed.

It's not just Centrists who are "enlightened" given there are literally progressives (not all of them) who also back similar arguments and defends the argument of not voting. The "earn my vote", "Democrats don't do enough", and the roundabout "Democrats are as bad as Republicans" crowd. The ones that tend to also be Bernie supporters (again, not all Bernie supporters). The ones who tend to peddle the election was rigged against Bernie and that he didn't lose.

Like I think some need to get out of thinking it's only so called Centrists and Republicans, peddling that. There are definitely some non right leaners drinking the kool-aid that staying home 2024 and allowing Republicans to win is a great and valid plan to achieve left wing agendas.

It happens sometimes, I've been attacked by conservatives and enlightened centrists just for calling Dave Chappelle transphobic for example. But liberals are more vocal so the arguments tend to be with them.

Humans are tribal by nature. Whether it be which side of the political aisle you're on, your favorite sports team, chosen religion, or even game console preference, you're expected to pick a side, & in the game of tribalism, it generally helps a lot to have more people on your side. "Neutrals" represent a very annoying factor of an unknown variable: someone who isn't on your side, but could also become part of the side you're against.

At this point I couldnt care less about either anymore and just do the best I can to be as independent as possible.

Most see them as either good or evil but to it comes across more as either good cop or bad cop when its convenient. Aside from certain times when theyre all seemingly on the same page.

If the answer is "Yes" you're the problem, as is the candidate.

If the answer is "no" then congrats, you made the lowest bar of common sense.

If the answer is "I'm not voting, get a better candidate." You support Trump by extension because he's enabling fascists, and unless you're voting against fascists, you're just enabling fascism.

It's really not that difficult.

This is the answer. They, personally, have nothing to lose, and so they don't care even an iota about those who are, in fact, impacted by this.

And then, if/when Trump wins, they complain about it, as if they couldn't have changed anything that they did.

I'm a realist who looks at our political system pragmatically.

You don't have to be a registered Dem, but if you vote 3rd party or not at all then you are indirectly voting for whoever does win, because you could have voted against them, and instead you essentially threw your vote away to blow yourself over how principled you are.

There was a former poster on 261 who frequently did that, kept saying he wouldn't betray his principles and blah blah blah.

Fucking great, dude. I'm sure the Christo-fascists will love hearing that after you did nothing to stand in their way.

And especially since the Republican party is the way they are, those who "stood by their principles" in 2016 and didn't vote at all essentially made it easier for every woman they know to lose their right to bodily autonomy. So hope those people enjoy blowing themselves every night over how principled they are.

Like they say, elections have consequences.

I wish it wasn't this way, but it's the system we currently have and every election is keep democracy and the rights we currently have vs Christo-fascism's theft of our rights and freedoms to anybody in their right mind.
