Was thankful later on when I saw that it's a "dream job" for many people, so the industry abuses and exploits them with massive unpaid overtime and crunch and frequent layoffs.

What do you think of the base game?

I love the world and the characters models, I find the characters and story much better than the mess that was XC2, but the combat mechanics and class system is absolutely bloated while still being dumbed down and largely pointless.

Honestly, it might be the weakest of the Xenoblade games to me, and apparently I'm alone in that view.
The combat was probably the best part, a good mix of 1 and 2 though more heavily based on 2. Chain attack is laughably overpowered and the heroes that boost it are thus way stronger than the others. I'd say 2nd best combat after X.
Exploration was also pretty good, I'd say again, 2nd best after X.
Story was utter dog shit. Took way too long to build up, made XC2's forced tutorial bloat look quaint by comparison, and there were so many hours of just absolute "nothing" dialogue packed in. Then the ending was just bad. 2nd worst main story in the series after X (except X had great sidequests to save it a bit, and in this one the sidequests are also dull).
Characters were likeable (except "bitch princess" [to use her own phrasing against her] and her "friend"; god were they insufferable) but none really positively stood out. I guess Eunie and Lanz were the best characters, meanwhile Sena's personality was apparently...not having one. Again... similar to X.

Basically, XC3 had a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses as X, except X did combat and exploration better and had some saving graces or (in the case of the music...which while all Xenoblade games excel at, X and 3 have the weakest OSTs, too...the bad tracks in X were so bad they were at least funny to laugh at).

The only thing I might rank it above is FC, but FC barely even feels like a game, it's just a meaningless thrown together bonus chapter. So I usually don't rank it at all.

Overall, I rank the series:
1 > X > Torna > 2 > 3

That said... the DLC for 3 has 1 and 2 characters in it (Shulk and Alvis being the two I'm most interested in) and I've seen people say the story is a lot better than the main game, so I still want to get it. And XC3 is by no means a bad game, it's a solid like... 7.5 or 8 out of 10.

Fucking terrifying. They followed the dude and set all this up to intentionally crash into him and knock him off the road, then swarm on him in masks w/ weapons to rob him before getting away in another car involved in "the hunt".

https://abc7.com/los-angeles-10-freeway-intentional-crash-robbery/13977943/

Footage shot by a witness shows the suspects -- each wearing dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts -- exiting a minivan and running toward a wrecked and smoking car on the right shoulder. The driver of the car is seen kneeling with both hands in the air.

The robbers appear to ransack the victim's car as a man standing nearby appears to record the crime on his cellphone.

The theft happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after the driver of a black Dodge Caravan "intentionally crashed" into a black Alfa Romeo sedan on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Arlington Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Officer Roberto Gomez said what caught people's attention was when the incident happened: in the middle of the afternoon.

One witness, who didn't want to be identified, shot video of the incident and talked to Eyewitness News. He said the incident seemed like a targeted robbery, and that the attackers had been chasing the black car for a while.

"It seems they knew what he had in his car. I felt really bad for him. I thought it was over for him. He did the right thing. He put his hands up, he let them take what they took," the witness said. "That's the safest way he could've done it."

It's only expected. In a past live thread, I posted that it didn't make sense to tell all civilians to leave north Gaza so they can destroy the Hamas there because they'd obviously have to then get rid of the Hamas that's definitely in the south too. But the north would be gone, so the civilians wouldn't be able to just evacuate back north again lol.

Also surprised BBC is reporting it. They were going hard pro-Israel at first.
Telling Palestinians to evacuate an area to spare civilians is sadly pointless, it just tells hamas terrorists to move away from there as well.
The US doesn't bother with this shit, if we can assassinate a terrorist, we just do it, and if there's a dozen civilians in the same area...'tis a shame, but we still do it.
Hamas will never try to fight with the slightest bit of honor, and they'll never surrender. Unless Biden can bribe Egypt into TEMPORARILY (stress that part) taking in Palestinian refugees so Hamas runs out of children to cower behind, there's no "good solution".
