I wanted to be an actor growing up but my parents talked me out of it. I took drama classes in high school but my parents wanted me to run track/cross country I made a deal with my dad that if he bought me a 360 I would. So instead of being a drama nerd I got to live in gaming bliss a decision I do not regret. Here is why in college I took a class that I eventually got a b in but my professor said I lacked emotion and I eventually was talked out it.

throughout my life I heard things like I was too ugly, you have to have parents that are actors (surprising how much my dads statement was true )because barring comedic acting most famous actors have a bloodline in acting, you have to start young, etc.

another dream and one I hope with the advent of ai that I can possibly achieve is making a game. I would honestly rather make games than be an actor now anyways.

anyways what is your dream job/jobs and are you still pursuing.

Dreamed of being a video game designer, eventually in charge of everything but starting my way up as a coder.

Gave up on it pretty fast when I realized I wasn't that good at coding.
Was thankful later on when I saw that it's a "dream job" for many people, so the industry abuses and exploits them with massive unpaid overtime and crunch and frequent layoffs.

My job now is pretty dull and boring, but generally low stress w/ decent work/life balance, job security, and healthcare. Wouldn't trade it ever for a "more interesting" job w/o those qualities.

Wanted to be a video game programmer. Gave up on it in college when I realized it was a crappy job and that traditional programmers make way more money.

20 years later and I lead a team of programmers and occasionally get the chance to actually write code again myself. To be honest, couldn't imagine myself doing anything else.

game developer. I didn't give up on it since I do it as a hobby, but technically it's not a job at the moment since I don't make any money yet.

Network administrator

Im too stupid and cant handle stress well. Plus i dont want a job that forces me to constantly have to learn new concepts (security, deployments, maintaining).

Id rather have gotten a trade job where you learn it once and get good at it and enjoy the rest of your free time living life.
