I didn't take it as something that demonstrated my enjoyment of either character but I thought it was a great way of contrasting both characters - Daenerys' royal entitlement and ego vs. John's humble nature.

One thing I like about that is that Davos winds up expounding on everything Jon's done anyway - but not by way of introduction.

Yeah, not until it was actually necessary. It was an interesting scene and great contrast. The scene later where Jon says he doesn't like what he's good at is also great. It's a good contrast between Jon and, say, Daario. I can see why she'll find Jon more interesting than the other men she's encountered.

I really hope it just bounces straight off though. Man I would just laugh so hard.

I think there's no better way of fully illustrating why I love Jon Snow and can't stand Daenarys than the whole Missandei/Davos announcing them bit.

Missandei goes off on Dany's list of "accomplishments" which are all basically deus ex dragonfire or things she had others do for her.

Davos does a pretty bleh job of announcing Jon Snow and doesn't even bring up his ACTUAL accomplishments until he gets pissed off about Dany not taking him seriously.

That scene was so well done.

".....this is Jon Snow."

funny as hell.

MGS4 has the scene where Naomi dies.

I'm a fan of Christopher Randolph generally in the games he is in, but there is nothing in any ND game anywhere near as bad as he is there. It's the scene I always want to skip. Seriously bad.

Sure that's one scene of a million, and yeah MGS is generally excellent, but it's a real sticking point for me.

Seriously?

Your point?

I mean, I've certainly seen worse, but that absolutely isn't VA or dialogue even in the same league as Uncharted or TLOU.

MGS pulled it off when it was released because our standards for cinematic videogames were lower.

Like if you go back and watch a movie from 10 years ago now, the CG looks dated and obvious. (Iron Man suiting up in the first movie is probably the first obvious example that comes to mind) But I was so into it at the time and suspended my disbelief I guess. MGS is the same - at the time it felt very Hollywood. But other games, not just UC, have captured that feeling much better since then so MGS doesn't.

But cinematically it was way ahead of its time, I think.

Wyatt has a metric shit ton of presence and charisma, but has rarely if ever made a coherent promo, and blame booking if you want but booking matters and he's always been a big loser.

Granted that's less important than him rambling nonsense for years, and continuing to do so weekly.

It really isn't nonsense though. I don't think I've ever listened to or seen a Bray promo and not understood his point.

But this is a complaint I see so often that maybe he should just try and be more straightforward to connect more.

I don't understand how anyone in the habit of wearing a seatbelt could forget to put it on for long. It's like if you normally wear a hat and forget to put it on, after a minute or two you will notice you aren't wearing it.

Seatbelts feel like something when they are fastened and if you aren't wearing one you should feel odd.

Oh yeah this I get. I have forgotten to put it on before, but I always put it on after a minute or so

Two and three have great acting as well. One is hard to gauge with a weaker script. But I think as a whole, that series consistently improved until the voice acting is honestly a big selling point of the series.

The final mission of 4 is pretty great honestly.

Well... yeah. Hence the topic >_>

(TLOU is also better)

The radio dialogue in MGS3 is some of the best stuff out there. I can just sit there and listen to radio conversations for hours in that game.

That would be the "sometimes great" I mentioned. Love that stuff so much

Oh, it has. I've never been dissatisfied with it. It's very good, sometimes great. And it was certainly light years ahead of its time for a while there in terms of quality, I think. It's just that Naughty Dog is better.

There are loads of games with good or very good VA and dialogue.

I feel like they're the grand masters of it, but I can't honestly say I play as many games as I used to.

I ask because I just started playing Life Is Strange, and it seems pretty good, but man am I pining for ND's dialogue and voice-acting quality there. But then it feels unfair to expect that standard everywhere when I consider them kind of a cut above everyone else. But are they a cut above everyone else? I guess GTA is pretty good.

I feel like his promo style is too intense or something like that for him to be a week to week performer.

He's like a really rich chocolate pudding or something. Idk. Better in smaller doses.

Also at this point he should have won big and/or taken over the whole show or something.

Also the whole thing with the bucket guy being unsure whether or not to keep the moustache or not and him not being sure if he's basing his actions on what other people think really reminded me of something similar in the Community pilot, with Troy's letter jacket. Not sure if it was a deliberate reference (since it was Joel McHale doing the voice) or if it was just Harmon going to that well again.

I don't know if it's just me, and if it's Clarke or the editing/directing to blame, but like...I didn't know medieval Dragon queens were so sassy. I've liked Jon/Kit a lot more the last couple of seasons, and I loved him last night. He did a great job at looking like this out of place Northman who is floundering, but also stubborn enough to stick to his guns. Dany/Emilia just keeps getting worse, augh.

They're totally going to bang though. She looked back at him when he walked away. There's no such thing as a meaningless look in TV.

Yeah like. I know it's a tiny thing but in that infamous scene where she gets the Unsullied, she totally owns the screen while speaking a fictional language. And when she says "Dracarys", it's fully accented and full of venom. Fast forward to S6, when she destroys the Master's ships. The way she delivers the same word there lacks anything like the same impact or feeling. It's actually weird that she has gotten worse as the series has progressed.

I did enjoy the conversation with Tyrion where she calls him out for selling his own thoughts as ancient wisdom. I laughed.

Yeah I have to admit, Cersei directly stating a timeline is kind of the limit on my suspension of disbelief when it comes to the whole teleportation deal. Before you could just say there was an indeterminate time between each scene, or that we're now just skipping to the "good bit" of every plot, that stuff is out of order, etc.

But like, it may have taken Jaime two weeks or more to even get to Highgarden. That's a problem. But not a big one - just something they should be avoiding if they want to move the characters so fast.

Give the viewers a chance, at least, to seek plausibility? I suppose that's what I'm saying. I could defend teleporting Varys because it was all vague re what happened when. I can't defend this when it's directly stated.

Plotholes generally are overstated on message boards because it often gets to a point where the person pointing it out is actively choosing to dislike what they are watching, because they're arguing against any explanation for said plothole, however plausible. But this is one you can't really get around.

I prefer not having the choice. It wasn't a role-playing game (I guess). We were playing Joel's story, and even though I was surprised at first by the ending I can't say it didn't make sense or that it was strange. Maybe it's because I know the real ending, but I think it would run counter to the game itself if I had the chance to make Joel give up Ellie.
