Yeah honestly I don't think MGS3's story is the type that is particularly worth Let's Playing.

MGS2 might be just because it's unique-- MGS3 is kinda just bog standard spy stuff, which if you're not playing you might as well just watch some Bond movies instead.

Well, Joe vs Lesnar was what I wanted from it. The first two minutes of that made sure of it. I got so much entertainment out of Joe just ambushing him and wrecking him.

I think you're being a bit too harsh on it because Joe did not win. The execution was excellent, and the way the announcers sold it, and the post match, this one has every reason for you to think they will actually follow up on this in the proper way. You can say "well they won't because WWE never does" but this one is different from the usual "wait and see" because the now is actually good-- it's not hopelessly praying WWE will right the ship after starting with off on a terrible foot. The feud and the match and the match followup were all great.

I say this as a guy who's usually right there with you and think this topic is generally way too kind to the crap WWE feeds you, giving benefits of a doubt where none have been earned-- Joe/Brock is about the only thing the company is doing right at the moment.

I still play casually with Kamigawa decks. Two of the main decks I use nowadays are a ninjutsu manifest deck (the mechanics are so fun together and it works) and a samurai beatstick deck (would probably be better without samurai, but samurai are flavorful).

I would be so hype to get some new Samurai and Ninja. Only blue ninja need apply-- screw the rat ninja no subtlety the ninja demands.

Yeah, when I said "the overcharge is the big thing" I meant more "I like the overcharge bonuses to regen more than the defense bonuses from leveling" so leveling it isn't as big a deal-- although in theory if I were to ever 200% I could potentially reach the 400% overcharge with NPs chaining, which could be cool I guess.

Did another 10 summon on the Gilgamesh banner, got ANOTHER Jeanne d'Arc. That's kinda cool, I guess, though I was using her without the game twisting my arm!

The overcharge is the big thing on her noble phantasm but the jump from +5% to +15% defense seems nice too. I guess higher level will let me hit higher overcharge levels too, in theory, though I've never actually manually charged a NP to 200%.

Eh I think most fighting games aren't too bad. Most of em the canon isn't so confusing as much finding the canon, which tends to be spread through arcade modes of several games, oftentimes characters unrelated to the character in question with gaps being filled in by supplemental material.

Guilty Gear is kinda worse because the dumb stuff was originally contained to the gears and I-No for the most part then midseries they decided they wanted EVERYTHING to be super anime nonsense so you have some characters like Potemkin and Johnny who are just really inconsistent, with no real reason given for any sort of power buff so it's like ???

I mean you'd expect Potemkin had a win over Sol (or even a competitive match with) with how he's talked about in these topics sometimes. He's good but Mega Man is basically a nightmare matchup for him and I wouldn't say he's presented at the top tier of Guilty Gear characters who would be a tier above Mega Man.

Pre xrd Guilty Gear games, while they have only one 'canon' path, tend to have fairly consistent power levels for the characters among the non-canon ones. Potemkin is pretty consistently on a level below what the Guilty Gear fan squad will put him at, mostly because it's easy to hype his top end strength feats-- problem is the guy's skill just doesn't match up to the strength feats.

just to clarify, how does potemkin's anti-projectile stuff work? kan says he has two anti-projectile moves. so I assume that if he's using those moves, he's not advancing or attacking with other moves, right? anyone got a video of the moves in question?

He's got a thing where he drops to a knee and flicks a projectile away, destroying it and creating a short range shockwave. This isn't really viable as he can't really get in doing this.

He's got a hyper where he creates energy in the shape of a floating pane of glass (basically) that either reflects or just stops projectiles. Doesn't last more than a second or two.

He's got some charging moves with hyper armor, letting him just power through incoming projectiles. Still taking damage, but no recoil, in hopes of nailing the guy firing in exchange for tanking some damage. These are probably Potemkin's best options but Mega can move while shooting so I don't see it being great.



Hard to find the moves, but flick thing is early in that video. Hyper isn't used. Good video for illustrating that Potemkin's anti-projectile options aren't very good against someone who has a ton of em

Yeah I think Nightmare Geese makes the difference here.

He seems really effective against Potemkin since he's got a lot of counters to offset the overwhelming power, and the terrain is small enough that Mega + Geese probably join up before the battle. He does lose to Potemkin but should be an adequate distraction for Mega to reliably take out the other two before going down, particularly with Soul Steal and Kirby starting nauseous (even if they don't fight till after 30 seconds I think Kirby has a bit of recovery time to be at full potential)

D.va - 5. In theory she's cute, but she tries way too hard to look cute which hurts her appeal a lot.
Sorey - 5.5 Completely unremarkable normally, below average bishie when armatized. Averages out to a 5.5.
Lailah - 8. She's not terribly hot in game most of the time but Eddv's pics show she's really cute at peak conditions. Really like that first fan art and she's killin the swimsuit.
Elma - 5. Good body but really drab in the face and hairstyle.
Char - 7. Dude's got a swagger to him-- doesn't matter his hairstyle is bad he's making it work.
EWJ - 3.5. Well above average looks among earthworms, but has an anti-swagger to him which is gonna hurt his ability to be hot.

Terry - 7. He does have a rugged charm but he would be considerably stronger in Garou form
Lara (2013) - 8 way better than classic Lara
Nathan - 6. Bare bones execution of a generic look, but it's a look that works.
Catherine - 4. I never really "got" this character. Like the hairstyle is a total mess, she tends to make really ugly looking faces.
Aya (PE1-2) - 6.5. She's like your stereotypical classy hot blonde pretty much. It ain't hurtin ya but it's not knocking it out of the park either-- this judge in particular isn't going for it.

Walkspeed matters. It means his movements that aren't 'moves' are going to be slow, so once you've learned the 'moves' (which is something Mega Man excels at-- that's kinda the whole schtick of his game, learning boss patterns) he's not really able to catch you.

Well Sorey's anime girlfriend wins the women pretty easily for me, but D.Va and Elma are beaten out by the average of Lara + Catherine + Aya.

The combo of Terry and Nathan Drake probably beat out Char + Jim, although Garou Terry would be cleaner. Also if we're going by species, Jim is probably way way above your typical earthworm. That counts for something, I figure.

Yeah sorry Potemkin really doesn't have a chance against the 8000 projectiles Mega Man can throw out here regardless of his anti-projectile tools he still needs to you know, get in.

Really the only question here is whether Kirby and Booker can be taken out between Mega Man's first life and Nightmare Geese, because with distractions I think Potemkin can get in on Mega Man which would be doom for him.

Jeanne Alter battle was really fun and somewhat challenging (I lost once when I ran my standard Kojirou/Altera/Guest comp). I don't know if you guys were overleveled for it or not but I ran it with L40 Kojirou, L23 Jeanne, and L20 Guest Jeanne, and it was pretty fun being at the edge of death constantly, staggering Jeanne Noble Phantasms to keep healed and to keep from being wrecked by Alter's NP. Quality boss fight. This game has POTENTIAL.

Also I think that fight alone made me happy to have Jeanne and she'll probably be in my main party sooner rather than later. Her Noble Phantasm seems like a great tool to beat things where the normal solution would be to just grind more.

Well the issue with stripping away buffs is that it's not an obvious go to when things are opening in a chaotic fashion, and Bass's opening assault while buffed is so strong as to basically manage to wipe one of them off the table.

That and the method of buff dispelling is a bit poorly defined on your part. What's the move being used to do it, how does it work. Some dispels remove a single buff at a time, for example-- some have certain preparations or need to hit. The less efficient it is, the less effective it is at removing the buffs when frankly Rikku isn't likely to be fully occupied here, and the less likely it is to be an opening move at that, meaning Bass's ability to kill both dispelermen off before they both think to do it and manage to do it becomes more and more of a thing.

This Bass.EXE is so far removed from the original between the buffs, lilith abilities, persona, and metroid gear, that it's questionable whether his preparations would actually be useful.

Meanwhile this Mega.EXE is the one Bass knows well with very little in the way of modifications, and he'd have all the knowledge Liquid Link was able to gather from the first encounter-- which when you have the intellect of Liquid (and DOUBLED) is rather significant. He's probably basically able to absorb the battlefield in its entirety.
