I am surprised but glad to see a lot of unpopular opinions about Infinite. I remember people raving to the hills about how great that game was. It started out strong but once the action actually starts it just becomes a generic shooter.

i enjoyed it well enough, but they fumbled hard with unique gear. oh, found the unique LMG? sorry, it's level 10 and obsolete already, just use a level 11 normal LMG. the perk that caps the cost of upgrading science weapons should have applied to unique gear, too.

maybe i'm alone on this, but it just kind of hurts the feel of progression when you're just looking for a level 11, 12, etc same thing you've been using, or eventually find mk 2 stuff that's just inflated stats on the same thing you've been using
That seems like a common problem in games.

Don't remember if it was Ghost Recon Breakpoint or Division 2 but essentially when you were still leveling up the whole point was just to equip whatever highest level gear you found so you would find even *higher* level gear, it was a dumb system.

It sounds promising based on the description alone.

Account is 20+ years old but I haven't even completed half the quests yet, and I figured that needs to change before I die because life goals.

In the past two days alone I have cleared Devious Minds, Mourning's End Part II, The Hand in the Sand, Cabin Fever and A Fairy Tale I - Growing Pains.

Next on the list is... Recipe for Disaster, which is apparently the 100th quest released and a sequel to the very first quest and also one giant pain in the ass. Let's gooooo.

Thought it was a fun game from a gameplay perspective. Writing went a little too overboard with the "capitalism sucks" gimmick. Like it was accurate but so repetitive. Overall story was a cool concept though.

They are both amazing games with ridiculously great attention to detail. The first one was more limited in what you could do and did feel more like a GTA set in the wild west, with more emphasis on action and shooting missions.

The second one ramps up the level of incredibility, though. The world is super detail dense, with a lot of random encounters to experience and dark side stories to unravel that aren't always highlighted on the map. The world is *very* accurately designed, the writing is great. It is definitely a slower paced game than many other third world shooters, but I think the pacing is perfectly acceptable if you let yourself go. I have a hard time with open world games because it just feels... too *gamey* (even though I've played through all AC games minus Mirage, all FC games and many other recent Ubi titles). RDR2 feels... like a different world altogether. It can get monotonous, but it also opens a big window for you to lose yourself in if you let it.

Settlements are one of the most fun things about 4 until the bugs start happening.
Settlements in the base game were boring as shit and only served to generate unlimited caps and get a couple of pointless achievements.

I didn't play enough with them in the DLC to see if the additions were any worthwhile.

I hated mowing my lawn because I had two mowers and they both consistently got gunked up with clippings instead of just neatly mulching the grass, didn't seem to matter what conditions I mowed in.

I have great difficulty playing evil characters, it's just not in my nature. I forced myself to try it once, in Mass Effect 1. That was the only playthrough of that game I didn't enjoy.
I also tried to play as Evil in Mass Effect 1 and my main problem was with how they wrote that character tract in general.

The "good" character is shown as calculating, strategic, considerate, intelligent. The "bad" character is just shown as some mindless ass who can't put 2 and 2 together. There was a big disparity in the writing that went just beyond the moral choices.

Sounds like bad college curricula.

I have had to take generic English/Communication classes. None of them required reading actual novels and writing analytic essays on them. They were all moreso focused on how to build arguments, analyze others' arguments, and how to properly and quickly assess and incorporate sources with proper citation.

The kind of stuff you need to do in the real world usually anyway.

Kotor and the Fallout games are the biggest ones that come to mind and all the talk about New Vegas lately has made me rethink how I'd try to replay these games.

It's been a long time but I remember when I did give KOTOR a shot (never got too far mind you), one of the earliest decisions was just being able to disable life support on a bunch of cyrogenically frozen people... it felt like a completely arbitrary decision to make out of the blue on a whim and I wondered why would anyone feel compelled to actually do that.'

Or support slavers like in FO3 or especially Caesar's Legion in NV...

I think I might have been able to pull it off in the original Fable. Otherwise I just have a really hard time bringing myself to be an ass and hurting innocent people even in video games, at least when there are hard-coded repercussions for it...

I realized in Starfield I was stealing everything of value and was shanking and sniping civilians in New Atlantis just to quickly game the skill challenges, but that's because the game didn't care that I did it at all...

Fallout 4 is a great game. I'll never understand the "X is better, therefore Y is just bad" mindset people have when it comes to this kind of thing.

It was not a great game. It was bland and broken, none of the new mechanics were engaging, they stripped away a lot of basic roleplaying elements, the initial story concept was actually *really* interesting but they completely screwed up the pace of the story and ruined it. I 100%'d the base game but it was all just one giant chore.

There was a person I flirted with in Phantasia IV but I quit playing and when I came back I never saw her again.

There was a girl I was dating in Runescape in middle school. I made a sapphire ring for her and proposed after a while but she rejected me and I gave it to her friend and me and the friend hung out a while but it caused problems for their circle of friends so that ended.

There was a 40 year old lady in Yahoo! Pyramid Solitaire who was talking dirty to me on voice chat when I was like 14 or 16.

And there was some person that I "dated" that claimed to be in college while I was in high school. After many months though they said they were a guy and their friends were laughing at me and that was that.

Have you tried Viscera Cleanup Detail? Came out many years ago, each level is generally based on some horror or sci-fi movie trope (like cleaning up a bunch of slaughtered Marines fighting an alien on a space station or cleaning up a house on Halloween where someone slashed up the residents).

Also kind of satisfying but very frustrating at times.

Also wanted to add the ambience is pretty cool. Between missions you're on your ship which is kind of like in Warframe but a little less snazzy (at least for now). You can manage your weapon load out here, go to the strategy map and fly to a planet to choose your missions, etc. It tells you what the status is of the planet (percent liberated or defended) and every mission helps liberate or defend the planet. Once you choose a mission you go to the hellpod and it drops you down into the Battlefield. And you can just look out the window and watch other pods and cannons firing off.

Like it is pretty simple in between missions but it makes you feel like you're part of the world.
RS3: UltimaSuende
https://letterboxd.com/BMovieBro/
It's pretty fun.

You start by selecting your loadout. You choose a primary weapon (think assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles), a secondary (like pistols), and a grenade. Then you choose your Stratagems - these are special drops you can call in - they consist of things like automatic turrets, artillery support, bomber/fighter support, armored mech suits, and special weapons like grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. Typically you're trying to balance what you have with what your teammates have so you don't all end up with nukes and heavy machine guns, though it's usually not the end of the world at least on lower difficulties if you do.

Then you drop into the mission. There are two main fronts spread across several planets. Some are against robots (with ranged weapons and heavy armor and shit), and some are against bugs (think the bugs from Starship Troopers or perhaps Zerg from SC2).

You have a primary objective and a timelimit. Your primary objective could be something like activating and launching an ICBM, evacuating civilians from an outpost, extracting fuel from pipelines, etc. There are also many secondary objectives, such as destroying enemy nests, extracting research data, destroying certain facilities, loading and activating artillery, etc. And then there are many points of interest where you can find resources. Once you've done the primary objective you have to reach an extraction point and call in extraction, wait for the ship to arrive (I think it's two minutes?) and then you have like 20 seconds to load up or you're left behind. In this respect it's like L4D.

As you play you find resources and get experience and another currency that let you upgrade your ship with new facilities - this helps you do stuff like call in certain stratagems more quickly, get more ammo with your stratagems, etc.

You also get war medals that you use to unlock new gear, everything from cosmetics to new weapons. These are unlocked through War Bonds (think Battle Passes), but you can grind out war medals through personal and community objectives as well as find them in missions.

It's generally a really great time.

Oh and you get a certain number of "reinforcements" per mission, so it's not like you'll play for 30 minutes then die then just be screwed out of rewards. Your teammates can call in a spawn beacon and you will respawn.

I share weird idiosyncracies with my family and I don't know where I picked it up. Like my brother and I always buy things in pairs - could be cereal, toothpaste, etc. I didn't know he did it until I went shopping with his wife one time and she was like "your brother does the same thing".

Also we haven't seen each other in several years and we both haven't really been to our (well, more like my since he was already almost out of high school when we moved) hometown. Our dad took us very rarely to a coffee shop in another town. For some reason even though I had only been there like twice that I could recall, I felt like I wanted to go there again the last time I was up here. My brother was here recently and he also stopped at the coffee shop. It's just weird, there are tons of other cafes in the area and places to go but for some reason we felt an attraction to that one stupid cafe lol.
