People really getting into the series with the worst game >_>
Hope rides alone
Worst game? It's not FO76.
Nah, if people start with Fallout 4 they'll just see it as a competent game, instead of comparing it to 1, 2, or NV.

New Vegas robbed yet again.
It's the most accessible game. As good as NV and 3 are, they're clunky by today's standards and people would get turned off it pretty quickly.

Im curious what the retention rate will be. While it doesnt look like trash, I havent seen any gameplay of that game that makes it look at all enticing. Not sure if mod support can drastically change it or not, but I wouldnt be surprised if 90% of people drop it before completing the main story.
yeah it's pretty sad. even 76 is a better option, honestly.

oh well, at least it's getting recognition at all!

Disclaimer: There's a good chance the above post could be sarcasm.
Die-hard Oakland A's fan --- Keep the A's in Oakland!
3 and NV are a bit too dated and janky for modern audiences. 4 makes sense.
I feel sorry for those who ran out to buy it, that game's boring as fuck
Looks like this gamer's paradise has turned into a gamer's hell...............................................
Now even more people are gonna find out firsthand how well Bethesda handles major updates, lol.

I doubt most people just getting into Fallout now are gonna be interested or even knowledgeable in modding.

I've actually been enjoying FO76 more than 4, the world just feels more interesting and at least there's a purpose to building up your little settlement.

Thats a shame. People who have only played 3 and 4 and think thats what Fallout is are bad enough already. People who have only played 4 will be worse.

4 is absolutely not worse than 3.

It's just the fad of the moment like Palword was. It'll go viral for a few weeks then any interest the show developed will disappear
fallout 4 is literally the best one stay mad guys
Didn't they just release a next gen update for it?
THE Ohio State: 11-2 | Las Vegas Raiders: 8-9
I mean, Fallout 4 is the most accessible one to get at major brick and mortar stores. I don't see how Fallout 3 and NV would be selling in the first place.
...I think I'm done here...
But the graphics!
"They don't decide who you are, you do. You are who you choose to be."
Ok sigless
To be fair there was a sale the other day on PS that had it at like 6 Australian dollars. So hopefully no one has shelled out any serious money for it
Currently Playing: Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age (Randomised)
Selling out? Is that even possible when all purchases are digital now?

Yes, and it's it been, uh, perfectly on-par with Bethesda's usual standards of quality assurance.

A buncha people who've never experienced a Bethesda game immediately post-release / update are in for a rude awakening.

Fallout 4 is a great game. I'll never understand the "X is better, therefore Y is just bad" mindset people have when it comes to this kind of thing.

I tried NV a couple years ago and it looked like shit.
This is where cool people write stuff.
I saw that deleted post... And if Brotherhood of Steel is that beat 'em up modeled after games like Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance or Champions of Norrath, where the main character is a black guy that says, "Shit!" every third time you punch something, then yes, it is the worst game to bear the Fallout name.

I feel the same as well.
DI MOLTO!
Dropping a Bethesda game before beating the main quest has been a staple for decades. I bet a full third of players in this wave won't even confront Kellogg.

Its not a great Fallout game because it has literally none of the hallmarks of that franchise that people want:
  • Solid roleplaying mechanics
  • Good dialogue system
  • Quests designed around choices and freedom
  • A trademark atmosphere with a post apocalyptic retro future vibe (difficult to describe this one)
  • Excellent world building (e.g., in New Vegas, if you ask yourself What do they eat? There are answers, and in 3 and 4 there arent
  • Good writing (Bethesdas idea of writing is a son looking for a father and a father looking for a son. Nuff said
If theyd called it something else, it wouldnt get the hate it does.

It's not even just a Bethesda thing, it's literally every game. You can easily track dropoff in games by looking at trophies/achievements earned and how every subsequent story related trophy has fewer people earning it.
That's unfortunate if FO4 is your introduction to the series.

It was not a great game. It was bland and broken, none of the new mechanics were engaging, they stripped away a lot of basic roleplaying elements, the initial story concept was actually *really* interesting but they completely screwed up the pace of the story and ruined it. I 100%'d the base game but it was all just one giant chore.

This is really the right take. Fallout 4 made some mistakes ( like neglecting New Vegas improvements, and frankly putting skills and perks in the same chart was a mistake) but its still ultimately a good game. Its just easy to imagine how it could be better.
Fallout 4 is a great game. This website is full of such weirdos.
Fallout 4 is awesome, and haters can suck it.

That's awesome, love that game. I hope all the new players submit enough negative feedback on the bugs involving settlements that they finally resolve them and make them not nightmares.

Hahahahahahaha oh you sweet summer child
I kinda wish I wasn't a mother at the beginning of the game. I kinda prefer how Skyrim did it by making you a total nobody despite your character's powers.

Yeah, the main story hook is bad in a number of ways: limits your character, you have no connection to the other characters in the intro, and in usual Bethesda fashion you can go a hundred hours without progressing anything about the main quest.

You really should try the others, they make your character choices much more meaningful. 3 is like a really fun homage to classic 60s sci-fi anthology shows and New Vegas is like a Western revenge with all sorts of interesting factions and decisions to make.

I like Fallout 4 but the story is shit and the voiced protagonist with a set background story severely limits roleplay options. You're essentially just playing Nate or Nora.
As someone who put close to a thousand hours into 3 & New Vegas, 4 was so boring that I gave up before finishing the damn game.
I swear New Vegas might be the most overrated game Ive ever seen in a series.
Whoever beats my score I will give them a $10 PSN or Live card:

Im not saying the hate for fallout 4 is totally unfounded, but it was still a good game I enjoyed my time with. And people who are just getting into the series because of the show will most likely enjoy it as well

It really fucks with the roleplaying aspect of the game. Not that there's much of that to begin with, but it certainly doesn't help.

I enjoyed 4. Wasnt so much on the messed plot but there was a lot I did like. Would like to see the show have a kid get shot and the bullet go straight through them because they can never be killed.
