Everything about it sounded terrible

Bummer... But kind of expected.

It deserves to bomb for what paradox did in dumping the entire original creative team.

apparently the ending is worse then ME3's. your choices dont matter and the climax isn't even shown, just a short narration.

This. Its a shame considering how good the first gameplay footage was before Paradox got involved.

What burns my ass about it is that my friend pre ordered me a GOG copy for my birthday at that time and now I doubt he can get his money back and I cant transfer it to Steam.

The original was buggy at launch but otherwise an absolutely stellar game. So while it got points docked for not being particularly stable at launch, many of those reviews still praised it for its ambition in trying something that at that point had never been done before.

The majority of the issues with the OG were technical problems, not helped by technically being one of the first ever Source Engine games while also using an outdated version of the engine. Technical issues can be overcome, but bad design is eternal.

That's a shame. Still might get it since apparently the lore and story is decent, and I just wanna play a VtM game.

Game's original release date was 2020. The first two development legs were so bad that Paradox of all people fired two studios in a row. Chinese Room got to tape all the parts together for parity and ship it, a studio exclusively experienced in walking simulators and nothing else.

I'm shocked it's near a 70. The story must be doing quite a bit of heavy lifting as all accounts of the combat, roleplaying mechanics, choices and build variety are godawful.

People rely too heavily on this concept nowadays. Modding isn't what it used to be. With homogenized engines, it isn't the same anymore. In particular, Bloodlines 2 is a frankenstein's monster. It is an Unreal 4 engine game with the lighting and shader update to unreal 5, but still not fully converted. Amusingly it runs terribly.

For unreal games, developers need to set up their codebase and file packing in a particular way for community access + release an SDK or mini-SDK for plugging into your own UE workstation. I would bet the odds on that close to 1% happening.

I wish there could be a golden age of World of Darkness rpgs like how DnD had that in the 80s and 90s. Why is it so hard to make a good WoD game? There was even going to be an mmo once with playable Vampires, Werewolves and Mages. But it got canceled

Not at all. The launch state was supposedly bugged, but theres an unofficial fan patch to fix bugs and restore cut content.

I played it for the first time ever in 2016 with the unofficial patch, and its one of the best RPGs Ive ever played.

I don't even think you can get the unpatched version anymore unless you hunt down a phyiscal CD.

The GOG and Steam versions are patched by default.

I know this for a fact because there are lot of awesome mods throughout the years but a lot of them don't work on the various patched verisons of the game. Which super duper sucks.

I dont think that was the case back then at least. Maybe they had a version of the unofficial patch, but not the latest one. It was updated this month, so I dont see why theyd do that if you couldnt use it.

I'm too lazy to check but last I checked the default Steam version was like version 8 and GOG was like Verison 10 of patches. Or the other way round.

This was ages ago. But a ton of mods no longer work because they made before these patches and don't intergrate properly.

Damn, ive always cared more for the tabletop game anyway...

A pity about the score. I have mulled it over a little bit, but have decided to keep my preorder. Been looking forward to the game and I have enjoyed games in the 60's before. Hopefully this will be one of them.

anyway, I pre-ordered the Premium Edition because I thought it increase in price as time went on so I could eventually resell it if I wanted to.

I think it's still possible that could happen but with its perception, the changes are a lot lower.

if anyone was expecting Vampire The Development Hell 2 to be a good game on release I got a couple bridges to sell them

IIRC it was super buggy to the point of basically being unplayable, and mods were required just to actually play the game. And even then it was still buggy, just not game-breakingly buggy. I don't remember that mods changed a lot of stuff in the game but I haven't played it since 2012. Didn't really care for it myself.

Put in like 3 hours tonight. Honestly, it's not bad at all. Combat is a little jank but I feel when you unlock more abilities, it'll pick up. Characters are awesome, especially Fabien, Tolly, Safia and Ryong. Great atmosphere as well.

I don't mind people dogging on it if it's really that bad, but some of the Steam reviews had people at 0.1 hours writing dissertation-length screeds undoubtedly prepared beforehand.

I read review saying you get pretty powerful by the end of the game, and that it's pretty fun when you get all your abilities.

Yeah, I'm not gonna place stock in user reviews. Lot of people bitter about it not actually being a Bloodlines sequel, and more of its own thing. Everyone knew what this game was gonna be, the devs never obfuscated that it's really just Vampire Dishonored.

I can see that. Honestly I am enjoying some of the Tremere abilities you get early. Can sneak and do the blood boil, lob a bottle and take out a small group then recall to safety. I can't wait to do even more crazy shit.

Yeah, The Chinese Room, makers of Still Wakes the Deep, managed to deliver a decent AA action game. Those 'dissertation' length reviews are certainly going to be riffing on the game still carrying the Bloodlines name. If Paradox hadn't advertised this as Bloodlines 2 and just dropped the game as "VtM: The Nomad" people would probably accept it as a decent AA action game.

As for clan choice, it primarily affects the flavor of combat(and gives related outfits to wear). Pick what interests you. Later you can add abilities from other clans based on their utility.

Dishonored is one of the greatest action games of all time. VTMB2 can not even compare.
