You kinda have to infer it from the intro. Tony's fame was pushing him into the background, but he also wasn't taking his work remotely seriously. I honestly couldn't blame Stane for having some jealousy, though resorting to murder is kinda nuts.

Nah, Asuca meant in the intro. Stane hired the terrorists to assassinate Tony while he giving the demo in the Middle East. That was before Tony had his change of heart and shut down weapons manufacturing.
