That's why you had a bad time. You should definitely have silk hearts you get one from bell beast. They auto regen silk, weavelight is a blue tool that speeds it up.

Made decent progress. Got the credits to roll last night. Now I gotta figure out how to trigger the otjer endungs and reach act 3.

But today I beat the boss of Bilewater, found the 1st dinner. Then happened upon Father of flame. Got another mask too. So I'm feeling good about the progress I made.

Silkhearts are the things that restore your silk naturally. So, for instance, after you beat the Bell Beast at the very beginning of the game you will naturally regen up to 1 silk if you have less than it because of the Silkheart it drops.

In you menu there should be 3 white balls or 2 or 1 on the abilities you have page those are the silk hearts you should at least have one from bell beast. What weavelight does is lower the regen to 2 seconds instead of 3 for a silk strand and adds a silk heart.

Just go to Mount Fay and I have to say it was a beyond moronic decision to make the Claw Shot essential for traversal and then add in the fact that it costs Silk.

How youre supposed to perfectly time a claw shot while you need to wait for it to regen while also having a timer to perform those jumps is f***ing dumb
Seriously! Its just bad design to have that skill cost silk. And silk should spend from the bottom, so the regenerating silk is used and replaced before spending reserves.

Im also really annoyed by spool upgrades being meaningless after dying. Hollow Knight only took 33% of base soul on death and left upgrades intact. Silksong takes all upgrades away for no reason.

ah right! Found it. And I only have 1

I did beat the area and fill out the map its just annoyingly frustrating for no reason. I dont see any reason this ability should cost silk other than frustration

and similar with the upgrade you get from that area having float and double jump be the same button means the muscle memory I just learnt for half the game is now completely useless. Why arent they different buttons. I like Silksong but there are so many frustrating elements that make no sense

My bad, that came across as a bit more insulting than I meant towards you. I'm just shocked that despite the fight being pretty unanimously one of the most hated fights in the game and people coming up with all sorts of cheesy nonsense just "leave and come back" is something I've never seen for the couple of fights that don't actively lock you to the arena + give you a large area where the boss doesn't follow.

I guess I've gone as far as to just do a walk of shame back to the bench if I took too much dmg. I hate losing rosaries with a passion cuz this game requires a ridiculous amount, so yeah maybe I've been particularly locked in on runbacks. I think any danger in runbacks is caused by rushing due to impatience caused by the repetition.

I've noticed that you could leave. But the adds just chased me rather than being despawned. Did you straight up go to another map? Does it save the boss' hp?

Either way, the key to that boss is actually using the silk spear thing and just one shotting the adds. The beastfly himself was never the hard part anyways.

I got it. I think the issue is that falling in the lava ALSO does 2 masks of damage. I can't recall if it always did that or what, but I noticed that was what was really doing me in. Easy to get caught between no platform + flying beastfly + add pestering you with projectiles = easy to just get rekt to death.

But he's fucking dead and I don't care anymore.

Beat the Broodmother. My assessment remains as it once was. A boss that has two near-identical attacks. One you want to attack into ASAP to kill the adds it spawns, and one you want to jump over to avoid getting stunned, with almost no visible or audio tell to distinguish between the two (there is a tell, it's just really hard to notice). And then it has a leap attack which randomly stops short sometimes. Randomly aims high sometimes (because sometimes she starts it at max height). And then the adds she summons if you didn't kill them instantly may sometimes decide to fly straight up after being spit out so you can't immediately reach them to kill them. All of this compounds into an RNG fuckfest that is completely unfun and there's nothing to learn.

Yeah, jump over the lunges. Yeah, run under the body slams. Easy enough. But then all the other RNG bullshit on top of it just makes it complete ass. Yeah you can jump over the lunges but she might just randomly stop short so you land on her anyways. Yeah run under her slams but it might start in a corner where you can't dodge the start up. All this while dodging random flies in the room because she spat them at a weird angle and you couldn't get them yet. Savage Beastfly was 10x easier because at least most of the adds it summons behave predictably...Broodmother remains the hardest fight in the game for me. I'm sure others have beaten it much more easily than I have but. I'm just, really bad at the RNG fights and this fight is the most RNG out all of them (so far). Lace v2 took me like 5 tries. Final boss took 2 tries. Widow took like 7. Moorwing? That was 20+ tries over multiple hours. This fucker? I've spent longer on this fight than I probably have any other fight combined. I am the living embodiment of that meme someone posted earlier.

Yes, there's an entrance in the area the lady that teaches you charge attacks is.

I explored the bottom part of Deepest Docks. I've been waiting to open up that door you need the clawline for for almost my entire playgroup, and now there's a locked bell at the end of it all? Damn.

Naw, you just go far away from the boss arena. If you leave it just restarts the fight.

And they chased me once, rather than despawning, but when it's just two duders without the boss (or having to pay attention to lava) they are pretty trivial. It's still pretty cheesy.

And I started Act 3. I'm going to die: I just got the beastling call. My heart.

What were they thinking with the snails' "hint" for the pollen heart location in act 3. It's literally just not at the top of Shellwood like they imply it was. Why are these developers obsessed with wasting my time?

the hint is "in the heights of the great wood, nestled deep in its roots, vines and branches, find the one who sowed the first seed"

And where do you actually need to go? Grand Gate.

I know, that was extremely annoying to find. It's not just go to grand gate. It's go to Grand Gate and find the breakable wall while you're quickly falling down the shaft. I actually missed it the first time because I:
a) was expecting it to be in Shellwood
b) was only going through Grand Gate to see if I could now that the Citadel had changed since the collapse of GMS and the void.

Spent like 3 hours looking for that, constantly running in circles.

Went ahead and got the rasher delivery out of the way. Wasnt too bad at all though I pre-prepped the path getting rid of enemies. There was only one moment of panic at the end and I got lost (a ceiling passage in the citadel is visually well hidden). Went the wrong way and a group of enemies chased me until I figured it out.

Oh yeah, i got quite annoyed about that one, lol. I think the way that area is laid out you have to come at it from one direction and its a very out of the way, hidden, spot that you won't know to look for if you're trying to pick up the trail from the hint.

Alright so almost as if to mock me for complaining about the broodmother I found another boss in the same area that was cool as hell, spams all kinds of cool as heck attacks, and...I beat it on like my 5th try. It truly is just the RNG fest fights that get me, and while I'm all for difficulty: The RNG flying fucks don't feel rewarding to fight at all >.> I didn't get that Dark Souls "Hell yeah, I finally did it!" moment with Broodmother. Just a "Finally, now hopefully I never see anything like that ever again".

Oh i did Sinner's Path and the Mist as well. About time I took care of those locales, lol. Extremely easy at my current power level but that's kind of what happens when zones are optional and all that. I've wrapped up every side quest I can find save for Savage Beastfly V2.0, so now it's time to clear out all the shops, maybe start hunting down all the fleas I missed...and then finally move along to Bilewater and start working towards the steps needed to get The Cursed Ending.

For those, starting out with the diagonal downstrike, just wait til you're basically right on top of it to down attack. You can be in it and still hit it too for non enemy spike downstrike objects.

i caved and looked at a video guide to see if i could pick up any tips, and wow this guy is way further in the game than I am, seems to have a lot more abilities and stuff. I don't really know another path i can take atm, but I might come back here later on and see what else I can do @_@

I'm not done with the game yet but after 30 hours or so this feels like a huge step backwards in terms of quality compared to HK.

- less freedom with the charms

- crests changing the basic and charge attacks and heal is dope as hell BUT every single pogo outside of the wanderer is fucking ASS so I'll never use them

- fucking fetch quests? Like multiple of them? That seem mandatory for some endings? Leave that shit in crappy AAA games.

- HK's arena was cool because it was an actual arena and having rounds/waves of enemies made some kind of sense. Why are they all over the place in random rooms? Is there anyone who enjoys these?
