is there any way to get to the right side of the underworks ("the cauldron") from the ventrica elevator?

it seems like there's a door there but I can't figure out how to open it

Actually once you do it from the other way, you can then do it from both ways.

But yes, the area in general is pretty annoying.

Contact damage against stunned bosses makes literally no sense
It's a mind-boggling piece of pointless difficulty

Most bosses don't have an exterior that suggests you should get hurt while touching them, and I understand having contact damage to prevent certain kinds of cheese strats (though it should never be 2 dmg imo), but why on stunned bosses?

I do feel its dumb and absolutely stupid when its 2 mask damage. But the worst is how close you need to be to hit the enemy. If we had a bit more room for the hitbox contact damage wouldnt be as frustrating as it is

Why the hell is the Garmond boss fight so missable? No good reason for it either. I know you don't need it for achievements, but I still wanted to do it. You have no reason to ever expect that the chance would go away while still in Act 2

That's just bad design, even on a subsequent replay you probably still wouldn't find him without a guide or some serious luck

Had a rematch with the final boss to recomplete the game and get the Passing of the Age ending.

The extra scene doesn't really reveal too much, but the "To Be Continued..." splash at the end seems to imply that this isn't the last we'll be playing in Pharloom. :)

I'm not sure, but I know that they released the game when they did because they knew they would just keep adding to it if they didn't, so they definitely already have DLC/sequel ideas lined up. It's just a matter of time as far as I'm concerned.

What if they do what they did with Silksong? Have so much fun making a dlc they turn it into a fully fledged game. Then we get years of radio silence and the internet's entitlement starts showing and they call Team Cherry clowns again. Then they decide, you know what, fuck those people. This project is scrapped ala Phil Fish and Fez 2.

I knew roughly where to look to find it due to comments from friends, but it is needlessly obscure If that's the only entrance. The game does technically give you the hints you need, but yeah if I didn't know to be looking for something in this general area then I wouldn't have found this place.

Alright wandered into Bilewater and immediately found Twisted Bud so time to go do...that.

Took several tries at the GM Silk. And yeah. Not being able to fight the boss with your own silk or even tools is really difficult. If I had tools this might be more manageable, but I'm not sure I'm cut out for this otherwise. I was able to reach Phase 2 several times but usually only after being 1-2 hits from death. I feel like if I want to stand a chance of beating this I'll need to be able to beat her phase 1 hitless semi-consistently. I suppose we'll see. At least the moveset is good, but lmao am I used to Longclaw Architect's incredible hit range.

Oh and, found that flea I was looking for. I think there's two remaining in Bilewater and perhaps there's some in Act 3 exclusive areas.

Yeah Id say go slow. I was playing way too aggressively the first few times.

slowing down to just get the jumps for the pin attacks was instrumental. When she spawns the spikes I just hit them till they leave.

it really came down to RNG on the grab attack for me. If I picked a good spot that didnt spawn ontop of me I was fine.

I just don't have the patience for slow, lol. That's probably why my experience with the game is often opposite of others. For the pattern-perfect bosses I'm usually just killing the boss before they can kill me and healing through the pain. It works surprisingly often because of how busted Hornet's heal is. But for all the RNG fuckfest fights it takes me hours and hours and hours because I'm like, physically incapable of waiting around for correct openings.

Alright well after about another hour of trying...I definitely cannot slow down, lol. I tried that and started jobbing constantly to phase 1. It's basically muscle memory or nothing for me. That said, once I switched back to my usual strat (and remembered that Taunt is a short-lived DPS boost that I can use when she's unavailable to help make up not being able to attack her) I started consistently reaching second phase. I'd say I make Phase 2 like 80% of the time. And I get there with 2-Hits left about 60% of the time, 3 hits left 30%, and 1 hit left 10% of the time. Definitely improving in the fight. Still can't do it hitless.

How long is Phase 2 again? I've gotten her as far as 1 knockdown / scream. Does she have 2 screams in the second phase? If not then I'm very close to beating her I think. Just need a few more tries. But not tonight. I'll have another go at her tomorrow and if she only has the one phase 2 scream then I've gotten her past 75% HP a few times now.

Once that's done I can finish the quest and finally move on to the final act...or maybe I'll take a break because holy shit Hades II is coming out soon. and it's a much easier game and I could use something comparatively relaxing yet still simulating.

Some observations of fight mechanics for those who follow. On extremely rare occasion she can fire horizontal and verticle blades simultaneously. She's only done this to me once in my dozens of attempts, but it was 100% undodgeable. I think this had more to do with my pushing some internal phase check and skipping a delay that normally occurs. You don't need to knock down spikes unless they're in your "turf". If you've space enough to dodge you've space enough to attack her. Only bother knocking spikes down if you're worried about hitting them. Although rare, there are some weave patterns that are undodgeable due to poor RNG (this usually happens because of a tight "box" getting overlaped with another tight box. If you have the space to choose a large box, do so. When she drops needles from above, there's a small collision error that happens near the arena's walls. Blades that spawn on or near the edge will get pushed inwards by the wall geometry. Do NOT stand near the walls when she's doing vertical blades, as sometimes they will drift into you. And finally, while it's possible to go under the swipe attack, don't. Doing so usually puts you next to the wall, and in phase 2 there's a bunch of other shit that can be going on and having the muscle memory trained for under instead of over will get you caught more often than not. Get used to jumping over like the taller horizontal blade configuration. It gives you much more opportunity to follow up whatever comes next.

Yeah the idea is that instead of fighting her in the Deep Docks, you can use multiple means to subvert that path, and if you do, she'll show up on the path ahead of you before you enter the Citadel, but this can happen in at least three places that have been found. You don't fight. You just get similar dialogue to the first fight and she just takes off.

There is another late game part of the map that might be more apt for it.

I wish I'd known about the Flintslate thing before I tried that area. Having a little extra help goes a long way in an area like that.

Theres something else thats more demanding and without checkpoints.

Nyleth is down. Not a type of battle I am used to lol but powered through.

Seth was way more fun. Going back to earlier comments, slowing down and engaging the boss at their pace was the way to go here. For a while I rushed it and tried to get as much hits in as possible but for a battle like this it didnt work.

The best approach I found with Seth was to just chill out and wait for him to throw his shield, then I'd punish that. When he goes into his second phase you have to avoid his AoE dives but he's manageble if you treat him like a punish only boss.

If it makes you feel any better, you are a probably a while away from it so you don't have to deal with it just yet.

By the time you end up at that area you'll have a lot more game time under your belt and the moveset you've built up will feel like second nature by then.
