though I wouldn't put the chances of it happening at 0% and frankly that is scary enough, right now I would put them under 1%. in regards to it actually starting Netanyahu concerns me more than Trump.

It's possible we might already be in the ww3 prologue period. Maybe Iran vs Israel will evolve into ww3

World Wars are supposed to be an aliiance of nations vs another alliance of nations. I'm not seeing any alliances being made, it's just a bunch of wars happeneing at the same time.

I doubt we'll ever see a proper world War again. Certainly not anytime soon. Proxy wars do the trick just fine and allow big powers to control the narrative much easier.

This, the growth of technology makes war on the scale we saw back then unlikely unless things completely go to shit.

This to me has the makings of another proxy war in the Middle East.

China's best move would be to do nothing, let the United States make another unforced error rushing off to save precious, precious Isreal from the consequences of its actions, yet a-fuckin'-gain.

if it starts it won't start with the USA. would take russia or someone launching a nuke to start it.

No country is really sticking their neck out for Iran. So I don't expect the current conflict to lead to WW3.

Unlikely. Thankfully this middle east ordeal will be over with one waybor another soon and the sooner the better. Too many lives have been destroyed already. Both sides need to learn to grow up and be adults. Forget who's right or wrong, forget who started it. Do it for humanity. As for China and Russia it will just be another cold war with neither side taking any action.

You don't really need nukes to do that with the kind of military hardware we have now. Also it's not like Trump never blusters.

He only starts WW3 if the US helps him do it.

Possible, but unlikely, the cost is too high with no reward for most countries.

It'd be the most Donald Trump thing ever to drag us all into WW3 and then die the next day, leaving the rest of the world to deal with it all.

I do not think there will be an event called World War 3 during Trump's term.

I do think we are days away from Trump sending Troops into harms way, and that could trigger a conflict that involves more than just one country.

And I could see an eventual alliance between Russia, North Korea and the United States (new axis) vs the rest of the world, but it would not be called WWIII for propaganda reasons.

I don't think enough countries are willing to throw actual troops into the mix. If there is a WWIII, I'd expect it to take a different form than the previous wars.

That's one of those "yeah on paper sounds good" type of deals except we're three years in to a Russian invasion of Ukraine that still has no end in sight.

Not necessarily in 4 years, but seeing as Don made it klear he intends to reamain in power longer than that, I think the possibility should be taken more seriously.

Russia is bogged down in Ukraine with nothing left to help Iran. Look how it left Syria out to dry. China won't actually do anything, they like to remain pragmatic. Having a friendly relationship with the West and being able to continue trading with them trumps any alliance with Iran.

Yeah. The entire reason Asad got toppled is because he couldn't count on support from Putin which was always iron clad. Russia cannot extend themselves any more than they currently are with Ukraine.

Currently I don't see a path to a true world war. I don't see any other country getting directly involved in fighting Iran for Israel. I also don't see any country directly fighting against Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The most we'll ever see is World War Lite. And it won't last near as long as the 2 actual World Wars.
