to really make that Harris thing even funnier?
that's an extremely similar story MLK gave in a 1965 interview to Playboy magazine about something he saw on a 8-9 year old girl.

clearly King was wrong on the age, it was actually 0-1 year old Kamala Harris.

Its so baffling democracy in America could end because a cult loves quite possibly one of the dumbest fucking people on the entire planet who would send every last one of them to a death sentence and feel nothing. Honestly feels like we just went to a different reality somehow where everything is worse

It's not just them though. Its also the people who won't vote for not that guy. Like there's too many people who let perfect be the enemy of not absolutely terrible. "I want better options," they say. Which leads to a conservative court and conservative control elsewhere. And the just don't care.. Look at Brianna Gray Joy and how she said the supreme court didn't matter. Well guess what Bri IT FUCKING DOES.

"Just expand the court!" They say. It can't be done. Its not a viable solution. You know how I know? Because if it were republicans would have, done it already.

I don't care who the dems, put up. Be it Biden, Harris, hillary, Santa claus, the Easter bunny, Gretchen whitmer, Taylor swift, AOC, the corpse of LBJ, Hunter Biden, A literal carrot, or Whoever, as long as they are somewhat left wing they've got my vote. would I prefer a better candidate? Absolutely. But the choice is between Democracy, and Christocorporate fascism. And you can tell reps hate democracy and, will, dismantle,it piece, by piece.not only by their past actions, but just say,we,live in a democracy and see how quick they are to correct you.

Maybe I'm preaching to the choir here. But it is so damn frustrating that so many people won't for dems because they won't get a lot of what they want when the other option is the opposite of practically everything they want.

I am unironically ready for President Harris.
This story's been around for a while and people like to dunk on it but at the risk of sounding like a shill for the DNP I don't think it's terribly unbelievable. Kids say lots of stuff, ask her a day later and she might have said "I need to be a caterpillar again".

Yeah it's plainly obvious this Supreme Court ruling is meant to prop up Trump and nothing more. For the vast majority of Presidents it wouldn't matter because they'd be impeached and convicted if they pulled something "criminal" while in office. And Trump's supporters are making it clear as day to boot.

About the only reason I still feel less anxious about Trump winning this election than I did in 2016 is because he's running against an incumbent who is probably STILL less controversial than Hillary Clinton somehow, and there's still plenty of time for Trump to screw himself over (how well Biden capitalizes is anyone's guess). Otherwise, wow.

Yeah no it sucks.

Democracy, even our shitty electoral college version of it, is functionally dead. The Supreme Court has essentially ceded unlimited power to the Presidency. All of the groundwork to be a literal dictatorship is now in place.

This is the point a sane country would be rioting in the streets. When I say its time to burn it all to the ground I mean it quite literally, but our population is complacent and the necessary rebellion to stop this would get put down by the relative to the alternative good people currently in power.

But you can no longer point to the US and say that it may be fucked up but at least its still a democracy. Our ship has sailed.

And yes we crossed riot in the streets a long time ago, but I think it was arguable that the systems in place were theoretically correctable.

But the Supreme Court ruling basically can not be undone. The President now wields power which cannot be checked by other powers of government or the voters themselves should the President choose to wield it.

We have created a dictatorship.

I still can't get over how a country with the tenet they nobody is above the law can rule that a president is immune from criminal production, albeit when performing his completely vague "official" duties. It's such a blatant allowance of corruption that seemingly okay with, or most generously blind to.

In response to Sotomayor's dissent, Roberts says that actually we need to prevent a reality where former presidents are consistently prosecuted once they leave office and that it's highly unlikely that any president would abuse their position in the way Sotomayor is fearing as if we didn't just have a former president be convicted of what amounts to election interference. Chief Roberts is pissing on us and telling us it's raining.

Like I know I'm not offering any new opinion or angle through which to view this, but I just need express all this somewhere and this is as good a void as any. I'm spiraling into a depression because of my anxiety about being a lower middle class citizen and feeling stonewalled in achieving my goals. And I don't even have it THAT bad but everything around us is burning and I just feel myself being consumed by negativity. I'm at point where I wish for the demise of anyone who would vote for Trump and I literally do not care who it is or their relationship to me. It feels inhuman but I cannot muster the empathy to deflect the thought.

That's the thing - normally a POTUS would have been impeached and convicted before they could reach the point where this ruling matters. Trump is a completely different animal though! Also I guess Roberts has no idea what a crime is, since most Presidents in the past have never criminally prosecuted their opponents because there were no criminal charges to pursue! Not to mention Trump did try to prosecute Hillary Clinton after winning but couldn't because she had no criminal charges against her, and then he got impeached for trying to dig dirt on Biden.

Apparently the entire mob that is the Republican Party has no idea what's a crime and what isn't. Wow. I hope this ruling causes Democrats to turn up to polls and vote, because any candidate better than Trump couldn't possibly lose from this position!

Conspiracy theorist post warning, skip unless bored or feel like engaging with this.

My prediction is Trump is going to win the election, claim absolute power, and this will all be allowed for a while to rationalize blaming dumb businessman Trump for a crash and cleanse of the world economy and the inevitable war between China and Taiwan so we don't have to blame the career politicians.

It's not going to be pleasant for the next few years but I think the endgame will be to impeach Trump and overhaul our government a bit-- the big thing to fear and my concern will be if the overhaul ends up being worse what we currently have. Also whether the economic crash will spiral a bit more than THEY expect it to. The war if it happens will suck too but I actually am expecting more of a cold war type economic/trade issue more than all out bloodshed as I don't think China wants to invade for a lot of reasons, and it would happen regardless of Trump presidency. Probably cloak and dagger negotiations right now are to stall China from doing it until our fall guy is in office.

Now if you really want to be super concerned watch to see if we get increasing talks of RFK Jr replacing Biden. I could definitely see "blame RFK Jr" to be a palatable alternative to "blame Trump" by the powers that be.

If we end with RFK Jr vs Trump in the election we'd truly be in the endgame. Just know Lopen told you if that actually happens.

Congress being partisan and impeachment being weaponized is why the president is above the law. These are the ways outlined by the constitution to deal with crimes in office. The courts are not supposed to be the avenue for this.

The system is broken. The Supreme Court ruling was pretty much what you would expect.

"Step away from the ledge!" the cop says as he points a gun, intending to shoot us all.

I don't think it's alarmist at all to be worried about Trump. He's said that he wants military tribunals for Cheney and Pence. These are the people who were on his side. Imagine what he wants to do with people who weren't! And there's nobody to stop him. The Republican party and the supreme court will let him get away with anything. There were adults in the room in 2016. They weren't good at their job, or even good adults, but they were adults nonetheless. This time we won't even have that. this time we'll have nothing but enablers surrounding him. Enablers and the heritage foundation and their project 2025.

They're going to get a national abortion ban (Stop telling me Trump said he won't sign an abortion ban. Kavenaugh and the others said Roe v Wade was settled law. That didn't stop him from going through with Dobbs, did it?) They're going to come after LGBT people. And Trump's rhetoric is going to get people killed. Just as LOTT's rhetoric got people killed, and nobody did anything about it.

The man tried to steal a fucking election, and people still want him because "Man, I'd sure like a tax break." Cause that's all that matters to them. A tax break that isn't even really a tax break because he's going to put tariffs on everything to replace the income tax so they can put in a regressive tax policy that makes sure that the poorest Americans are paying more than the wealthy elites.

You have the head of the heritage foundation saying there'll be a Bloodless revolution, as long as the liberals are compliant. This should freak any decent person out. And I think it does. Because I don't think any decent person could ever consider voting for Trump in 2024. Unfortunately, our country is short on decent people.

I will say if the current "smear Biden" campaign works there will be no need to replace Biden with RFK.

They only need to run RFK Jr if it is looking like Biden may have a chance against Trump assisted by the Democrat run smear campaign on Biden running from both sides. He'd have to be a large favorite though-- you just rig the polls if the gap is small.

But yeah I've basically drawn Trump in as the winner in my head. Will be voting against him but I feel like it's inevitable he wins.

Yeah

And this is why I'm considering the "break glass and run RFK Jr over Biden" timeline.

If Trump is set to be beaten by Biden comfortably THEY can't risk Biden actually running. You can only plausibly do so much election fraud. That both ups dumb orange businessman fall guy's chances of winning and gives a backup plan to hand RFK Jr the pin-removed hand grenade.

THEY are definitely doing their best to present Biden as unfit to be president but it may not be enough.

Disagree. Trump has won or come close to winning by a razor margin while down in the polls consistently. A tie or trump lead is likely a telling sign the outcome is already sealed if it holds (and it has been growing). The party is in disarray because of trumps lead and what it means. They wouldn't be telling biden to step down at all after the debate if he was up 5 points. That's the difference.

Here's a conspiracy theory for you if you like conspiracies, albeit this one is more grounded in reality.

The Heritage Foundation is running the US government. Currently they have power of the house of representatives and the judiciary. They want the Presidency, so they're pushing the whole "Joe Biden is too old!" narrative. They've already got lawsuits planned in case Joe decides to step down, to keep his replacement off the ballot so they win by default. They're making a power grab in order to institute their christofascist beliefs through Donald Trump, the Supreme Court and the House of representatives. Once they gain power, they have no plan on letting go of it. They are, of course, working in conjunction with the federalist society, who have long been courting judges like Kavenaugh and Gorsuch, who are now on the highest court of the land, with no method of removing them as long as they hold enough power in the senate. They even have some agitators among the democratic party to cause maximum disarray.

The democratic party has no one to blame but themselves. The writing was on the wall for this forever, and instead they propped up the idea of biden rerunning instead of finding someone viable. Instead they put all their money on bringing up cases against Trump instead. That was only going to reinvigorate support for Trump.

The craziest part is that this debate was BIDENS ask. He asked for this special debate and literally sealed the deal for his loss. Such an error. Trump if he is smart will decline to debate again and say that he feels it is unfair to put Biden through the rigor of a debate again because he can't handle it at his age. That he is looking out for the well being of Biden by declining.

See the difference between my conspiracy theory and yours is mine is actually supported by the current state of global finance/politics.

I'm not making a theory up for the sake of one I'm more trying to figure out why we are taking up more debt than ever in a rate hike environment, and why the stock market has created a situation where Nvidia (heavily dependent on Taiwan) is propping things up to an irrational degree (while of course Pelosi and other members of congress bought calls before said irrational run up).

It feels more likely that these things are being done consciously in anticipation of an "unexpected" financial reckoning than a bunch of people being completely stupid at their jobs.
