Playable Susato was a bit of a double-edged sword here. People really liked playing as Susato, but were disappointed that nothing really came out of it after this case. As for the other cast, the returning characters are good, Brett dying was a bit of a shock/letdown, Rei...existed, and Menimemo was generally liked.

Summary:

With Soseki found not guilty and Green out of her coma, everything seems peachy on Briar Road - until the Garridebs' other lodger turns up dead. Ryunosuke and Susato take on Soseki's defense for a second time, and set out to solve the case of the cursed flat once and for all.

Main Characters: Ryunosuke Naruhodo, Susato Mikatoba, Herlock Sholmes, Iris Wilson, Barok van Zieks, The Judge of the Old Bailey, Tobias Gregson
Other Characters: Soseki Natsume, Olive Green, John Garrideb, William Shamspeare, Adron B. Metermann, Bruce Fairplay, Young Woman Juror, Young Man Juror, Quinby Altamont, Laborer Juror, Elderly Man Juror, Duncan Ross, Selden

My rating: 7/10. Redeems G1-4 from being one of the most unmemorable cases to a pretty interesting case. Shamspeare is thankfully not dead, as he provides a lot of humor and intrigue to the case. The setting of Victorian England is used pretty interestingly with the gas pipes. Green and Shamspeare make for a really fun combination of victim/culprits in the second day. I also really like the Dance of Deduction here. Overall, this is one of the better "filler" cases in the series.

It's tempting to linger in this moment, while every possibility still exists. But unless collapsed by an observer, they will never be more than possibilities.

Pretty good stuff, second best case in this game. Gave me hope for the game's quality overall.

Really good follow-up to the original case. Shamspeare makes this one worthwhile, between the circumstances of his "death," his fake persona, and his true nature. He's just a fascinating character. Olive is a very sympathetic character, and it's nice to see Soseki again, but really, this case is all about Shamspeare.

It's funny how this is the case that they really wanted to do all along and G1-4 is just elaborate setup for it. They just really wanted that twist of G1-4's "victim" being an actual culprit themselves when they were attacked. Unlike that case, which was "Ace Attorney Jr," this case feels entirely fully fledged and not like some kind of stupid joke. Shamspeare is great and I had warmed up to Natsume by this point. Also, finally, a 2 day case with the normal structure and everything! I thought about giving it an 8, but something about this case just doesn't quite land for me and I don't know why. Nothing specific about it really.

I was surprised at how unimportant Shamspeare turned out to be, since he appears in GAA1. Same with the communist guy.

Really good fun throughout. Shamspeare is, of course, the highlight. The worst part is the rehashing of the 1-4 jury, none of the returning jurors have any new gimmicks and it's more of a waste in hindsight because we only get two juries this game. It's somewhat strange that we spend so long on a flashback case that's pretty meaningless for everyone's character development, but I guess that's one of the consequences of shortening the games from 3 to 2. And yeah, this one is enjoyable from start to finish, what more could you want?

I don't see how Shamspeare could've been any more important than he was! He is the centre of this case.

This is a really good case! Actually uses the London setting well whereas cases 4 and 5 of the previous game felt like they could be in just about any city. This is also something that the next three cases do well also. Shamspeare turning out to be alive was an incredible moment.

I guess he was expecting him to be more than just a single case character.

Shamspeare could have been the real Reaper.

Mostly good. Soseki Natsume continues to be the best, actually. Olive Green is a great sympathetic character and it was enjoyable to finally have payoff after G1-3. Shamspeare is mostly fine. His fake out death is absolutely hilarious, like top ten moment in this game for sure, but I think his schtick wasn't something I wanted to see for a full trial. Kind of a shame, because like I don't think we get enough killers in this series that are genuine comic relief type characters. Humour is subjective anyway, so live your best life Shamspeare gang.

I still wish the Jurors were more substantial though. We even have repeat Jurors this time around! Altamont has a fantastic design though, and she's definitely the kind of thing I think of when it comes to Ace Attorney having a jury system. Metermann is nice too, but he felt kind of underutilized to me.

I have only vague memories of this case, since it's been seven years for me and I did not like DGS2 very much so I haven't replayed it. Some of the antics have stuck around in my head, but no emotional beats have, for better or for worse.
