I feel like most of the people who knock biscuits and gravy never tried it. It looks like shit but it's really good if made right. I mean a real version, with the sausage chunks in it, not the pouched powder shit.

it's almost like how good any countries' cuisine is isn't related to the cuisine itself (as they wouldn't stay like that if it wasn't good) and it all comes down to the quality of ingredients and how well you prepare it

I lived in London for eight months in college. It was the experience of my life. I met my wife there. I travelled to so many amazing places. And a bunch of my friends were there too, so we spent almost a year carousing through Europe. Awesome times. London is a fantastic city.

But the knock on English food is no joke. It is terrible. My host family could not cook anything besides gray gruel, and all the stores and restaurants were terrible.

I think I lost 30 pounds, even though I was drinking Sooooo much beer. I couldnt eat anywhere. There was a KFC down the hill from where I lived, and it probably saved my life. It was the only edible food around.

Think about that: KFC was the most edible food I found in that country. KFC.

In the UK we call it 'Secondary School', and it's for ages 11-16.

I'm in London and today's lunch was the worst Greek food I've ever had. But last night was excellent fish & chips, and the night before was good fancy Italian.

The original video where Josh and Ollie try it for the first time and Ollie describes it as a "hug in food form" is maybe the best descriptor for properly made biscuits and gravy I've ever heard.

Also, INB4 CassandraCroft gets mad about this topic if they're not currently suspended.

If you were in London specifically then the only reason you couldn't find good food was because you didn't look. Brick Lane alone has tons of good places of pretty much every cuisine you could ask for.

I hear this so often and 90% of the time they act like beans on toast is all they eat and it's the only example they give. Nothing wrong with most British food, they have their good and bad stuff like everywhere else in the world.

You needed a better guide. There are hundreds of fantastic places to eat in London, from Michelin starred fine dining to street food. I've been lucky enough to travel a bit, and I think it's one of the best food cities there is.

I'm not a CassandraCroft blind nationalist. I wouldn't say that if it wasn't true.

Three of my friends had to be rushed to hospital with malnutrition, when they lived in the Britain, because the food was just so inedible that they couldn't eat literally anything.
When they came back to the states, they were almost half their usual weight. It was so sad to see.

They do have foreign food there too. Your friends couldn't go to a Mexican, Italian, Chinese or Indian restaurant? UK has amazing Indian food because so many Indians live there

What, did they all have some kind of OCD? To go malnourished when you have money and freedom, in a country where most people are not malnourished, means you have a condition, or were just raised very poorly.

Prepare your own food? UK actually has better butchers and farmers' markets.

You guys don't understand that you're completely used to the British gruel system. You were born in it, molded by it. Getting advice from Brits about eating in the UK is like getting advice from a cat about what the best cat food is. The cat might like it, but we don't want it.

Their Indian food was pretty good when I went. Also pub food can be pretty nice occasionally.

Did end up eat baked potatoes with beans/tuna (not both at once) a few times. Not sure whats up with that.

Shame, it is amazing.

I also like it with crispy hash browns and scrambled eggs.

Oh, and the biscuits and gravy, of course.
