iirc it is like ok when the plane is in the air and before anything gets going but none after that. Any of you think they should get rid of this rule

Who cares its like 2 minutes during takeoff and landing and the average person is too stupid/incompetent to be able to use their phone and keep a stable grip on it during something as monumental as a plane landing

have seen some yt videos where some unruly passengers refuse to do this and get in big arguments with flight staff over this. Reportedly the safety concerns of this rule is overrated. That it is no safety risk

I am so much on my phone that such rules are outright benefital to me. Just enjoy to shut down everything for a while.

And for people who have such big problems with these rules, it most likely true for them as well.

You don't have to, just hide your actions as the staff walks by and there won't be a hassle.

Never had a problem myself. Takeoff and landing is the only eventful part of a flight, so at least there's stuff to watch.

I've been told to put my book away for takeoff before, granted it was a pretty big hardcover.

Previously I'd agree. All the electrical equipment is heavily shielded. Mythbusters tested it even. They had to go to a plane junkyard and get some navigation guts with the shielding removed and internals exposed to get a reaction.

However today given how shoddy some of these planes are, I'd rather not find out if the electronics shielding is just another part they skimped on for profit margins.

Honestly, the bigger risk is the object itself. A phone is a projectile in the wrong conditions and takeoff/landing is where the overwhelming majority of issues arise.

It's not primarily about RF interference. It's about being able to hear announcements, safety instructions, and having general situational awareness during the most dangerous parts of a flight (take-off and landing).

They should implement a rule where deboarding is the same as boarding. Seats towards the front gather their things first once the door is open. They get off the plane. Then the middle. Then the back.

It bothers the fuck out of me when everyone races to stand up first and blocks everyone else. The same people clap when the plane lands, put their feet on the armrest in front of them, and drape their hair over the back of the seat.
