This is specifically referring to using "female" as a noun, or atleast in similar, dehumanizing context, because the incel way is to say "That female/the females" etc. and so on.
Literally a Youtube video that was just recommended to me.

An incel would use "female" before "gal". "Guys and gals" is absolutely a normal thing in informal situations when talking to a crowd. "Bird" is just antiquated and doesn't really see any use outside of the UK. Doesn't change that it is the direct parallel to bloke.

I guess so. The other guy mentioned "skirts" as a legit alternative so part of me thinks some people are missing my point here

If your point is about context, "Dames" can be used respectfully, in context. So can "gals," and so on.

There's pretty much no respectful context whatsoever that "the females" can be used in, in casual conversation.

Your point is bad, thus the issue. There are dramatically more slang terms for women in part because there is a parallel for all of the ones given to men + all of the misogynistic ones that only have a single-gender version.

Tbf, there's a lot more words to use for us. Guys, dudes, blokes, boys, men

Other than girls and women, what is there? Ladies?

At the very least guys seems to be gender neutral these days. Ive seen women use it to refer to their other women friends.

On that note whats up with women saying girlfriends? Not in reference to a romantic companion, simply Im going out with my girlfriends for drinks.

If the goal is to be less offensive, it's funny that skirts and birds are considered appropriate when I really doubt most girls enjoy being called either

Like sheila in Australia. Its a name on its own right but we have a history of using it to refer to any woman. Not so much nowadays though

You chose to go off on those, ignoring all context, in order to defend the literal use of "the females."

So, yes, I am going to "go off."

I just think anyone who thinks birds or skirts are acceptable words to refer to women are not as qualified to comment on this issue as they might think, no matter how many time they throw out the word incel

My defence of "female" extends to not knowing what's a better term to use when describing the whole gender. For example, women excludes younger girls and girls excludes older women

Because it certainly seems like there are certain people who intentionally say "the females," but I can't really think of any common scenarios where people say "the males."

Theres nothing wrong with using the word female, provided youre using it as an adjective and not a noun.

Because incels intentionally use "the females" as a derogatory term, so your argument is pointless unless there is a sizeable amount of people saying "the males" in a similar fashion.

I don't understand the problem, with it. Also some of the reason's listed as why is it wrong just sounds off. Like suggesting female and males are not nouns. In official published studies they are used as nouns. HOWEVER, just because I don't understand doesn't mean I don't care about how others feel. So I won't argue or insist on using female. I'll try to use something else.

There are contexts where using the word 'female' is perfectly acceptable with no derogatory implication.

We all know when people are using it to sneer at women, and their cowardly attempts to hide behind plausible deniability ('I'm just using the traditional meaning. Look, here's a copy/paste from Dictionary.com!') are neither clever, nor convincing.

The first person I heard say "female" as a noun to refer to women was a misogynist. Whenever I hear "female/s" used as a known, it carries that same misogyny. The context always tries to other (verb) women as being so different from men that they either cannot understand each other or outright dismissive to the thoughts, feelings, and concerns women might have.

Women who say "males" in the same usually carry the same mentality when it comes to how they view men.

People don't speak like published studies in daily conversation. "Males/females" is a very cold and clinical way to describe men and women. Are we talking about cancer rates, or some cute woman we saw walking down the street?
