What part of this are you not understanding?

If it was already a noun, then they aren't taking an adjective and turning it into a noun. Right?

Wrong. It's a noun in specific contexts, just like any other word that can be both noun and/or adjective and/or verb. When referring to humans (outside specific clinical and scientific contexts), female is an adjective and using it as a noun is incorrect.

The existence of weird people does not preclude proper English.
What's proper english got to do with anything? "female" as a noun is proper.

Idk, there's certain phrases where saying "women" instead of "female" just rolls off the tongue awkwardly.

For instance, saying "female characters" feels more natural than saying "women characters" to me. Typically though, if I'm referring to an actual woman and not just describing the gender of something, I'll say woman/women/girl/girls/etc.,

I mean, it has a centuries-long history of being used as a noun in reference to humans, and every dictionary permits its use as a noun. Referring to women as 'females' is a bad idea for sociocultural reasons, but it isn't grammatically incorrect.

That's because "female characters" is [adjective noun.] "Women characters" is [noun noun.]

Modern use is not exclusively beholden to historical use.

Correct. But if there's historical use of the word as a noun (specifically in reference to humans, yes), then people who use it as a noun today aren't 'taking an adjective and turning it into a noun'.

Show me a dictionary that doesn't permit 'female' as a noun.

Here are several that do:

Nope. All four of the links I gave say that 'female' can be used synonymously with 'female person'.

Also, even if you were right about scientific or academic contexts, that still wouldn't mean that it's grammatically incorrect to use the term that way outside of those contexts. It might be awkward to refer to a crow as a 'corvid' in a nonscientific, nonacademic context, but it wouldn't be grammatically incorrect.

I know you're dedicated to any misunderstanding that lets you sneer at me, but we're actually saying the same thing. 'Female' is (sometimes) dehumanizing because of the meaning, not because of the grammar. We can change the grammar and refer to women as 'female humans' instead of 'females', but this is still just as dehumanizing because the biological connotations of 'female' are still there, regardless of whether the word is being used as an adjective or a noun.

Let's see, I'm gonna go call her a female right now. She said, female? hello? Yes. And chuckled. Then I said it again, and she said that's right, and don't you forget it lol.
It's really not that big of a deal.
Then to test, I said to my wife, you're a female. Her response. Yes I am!
She said to me and you are a gatotuy.
Which is ladyboy in thai. She is Thai buy the way.
Then her and my mom continued to talk about how delicious the cookies they were eating are.

The over-arching point here is that this discussion isnt really about referring to women as females in an insincere or joking manner. Its disingenuous to downplay as just jokes, and disrespectful to women with your earlier suggestion how others just dont understand humor and joking with friends/family.

No, it's a fact.

God doesn't exist.
Ghosts aren't real.
There isn't an invisible space dragon orbiting the earth.

None of these "claims" require proof, because they aren't positive claims.

That's just not how it works though. You claiming otherwise does not make it so.
