Most Recently Purchased: I think the PS4 version of Skullgirls, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Favorite: It depends how I feel at any given time, but I tend to gravitate to Smash over traditional fighters simply because my manual dexterity just isn't good enough for all but the most casual play of traditional fighters (or for competitive play of Smash). If I'm playing something like Street Fighter, Tekken, or Mortal Kombat, I'm basically in it for story/arcade mode set to the easiest difficulty available and that's it.

I've tried out other franchises but they just didn't really work for me. Mind you, even Tekken I don't really play anymore. Probably not gonna get T8 unless I see it on a really good sale at some point.

Oh geez, that game is so good, and I often forget it even exists. I bought it on a whim on GameCube for like, $5 on a discount at KB Toys, because I knew I liked Street Fighter, and I knew I liked KoF, and I saw characters from both on the back of the box. It ended up being one of my favorite games of all time.

It was only an open beta originally and never meant to stay playable for as long as it was.

But it was a bigger hit at launch then they anticipated, to big to simply shut down apparently. Which may or may not have been a mistake depending on what they learned from it.

As for them losing profits.not really, the players who brought the money were essentially screwed. At least if the game never returns. I brought the legendary founders addition and am still kind of salty about that.

It was an open beta, but was there actually any indication that they intended to take it down, at all? Most open betas, nowadays, don't get taken down. They just kinda stay up until they transition to "gold" status. For example, compare it to things like Disney Speedstorm and Dreamlight Valley, which also came out as a betas, but just stayed active until the full release. Granted, I haven't taken part in many such "open betas," but I remember Tem-tem doing something similar, way back when, so based on my own personal experiences, I haven't seen many games actually just... Stop existing, for awhile, between open beta and actual release. Especially not ones that charged you money for things during the beta.

Fair enough. I do recall their end of services announcement saying they intended it to be a limited beta, but I also remember people feeling kinda blindsided, since they never really indicated there would be an "end" prior, and, usually, when something is openly charging you money for things, there is no real "end," prior to release. But they did decide to end it, and effectively screwed some people over, in the process.

Poor decisions, all around.
