GREAT JOb!!!

Thank you but I am going to try and slow down as my diet wasn't healthy, I went to an extreme calorie deficit to the point where I was shaky and extremely moody. Going to try to play this smarter the rest of the journey

Last night was really hard. However I stayed away from food. I was jonesing, however today hasn't been much better. Work is stressing me the hell out. And when I get stressed the only way I can feel better is eating. So don't know what to do.

My illness right now is something else. I've been eating like shit (pizza, burgers, ice cream) cause I'm so sick I don't want to prepare food.

Been like this since Thursday. No work outs or anything.

I'm still at the same weight. Haven't gained a pound from literally doing nothing, eating like shit, and being sick.

My weight lost have stalled. I think I am going to do something wild.

I am going on the chick-Fil-A diet. I know by body is different but when I was in college. I hate chick-fil-a only for a few months and I lost 40 pounds. Then I had to bulk up and then shit when to hell after that. But I might try that again. I mean at this point I don't think it could hurt.

I wouldn't want you to do anything that would send you the other direction though.

Do you have any way you can speak with a nutritionist/dietician? There might be other things going on in your body that can impact potential weight loss, if you have a thyroid problem for example. It might not be anything to do with something you need to change diet wise and it could be other health stuff.

Without having to do anything like a chick fil a diet lol. I might shot back up before my official weigh in in Friday. But I a taking this small win. I am so close to the to 30s.

Oh I am working out more. My goal is is to work off at least 500 cals a day. I need to find a way to do this that doesn't impact my knees.

I started a lifestyle change November 1st. The principles being daily walking, as few added sugars per day as possible (eg no candy/soda), and mindfulness about meal size and calories. I decided if I never enjoy food again it'd still be worth having a healthy body at my age.

Since I first opened the weight loss Social I have lost 23 pounds. But it doesnt feel like it. Some of my old pants are still too tight, and I still see myself as a short Baloo, or maybe Little John since Im brown. When I first started typing this new post, I was going to a positive update and then just like that, things went south. I see what I did , but I am going to leave this sad part in just in case anyone else is feeling sad too, you are not alone. We can overcome this, and not just get through it, but break through the negative emotions like the Kool-Aid man smashing through a wall. Now, let me tell you the good news. I had a Zoom meeting today and I noticed that my face looked much slimmer. I joked in my Jheri curl topic that I could never be as cool as this guy (picture below), but really, all I need is a cigarette and Im there. My bread is even coming in. Not because I wanted it too, just because I have been too depressed the shave.

The thing with weight loss is that some people will say you can target it, but you can't. Where your body decides to drop weight is kinda random to your genetics.

You can target muscle growth in specific areas to sculpt your body, but losing fat in specific places? Not so much.

245. I'm an alcoholic but I have a home gym and spin bike with Zwift. My body eats to handle the adverse effects of alcoholic and marijuana consumption, which I use to control my epilepsy. If I lose too much weight at once I risk a seizure. So biking + weightlifting has given me much more in terms of appearance and exhaustion.

My goal is to biking for at least a half of 60 NBA Basketball games. I've done six so far and the distance is about 20 miles. Going for a full game next week. The intensity is normally much lower but I misplaced my fan and my heart rate skyrocketed.

Haven't actually been lifting properly for a while. Gonna start.

I've been battling with my weight for as long as I can remember, even as far back as elementary school.
I went to a small, private school from K-8. So small that my graduating class was only 23 kids. I was the biggest one, so I was "Big Mike" basically my entire childhood.

I was able to parlay some of that weight into a (fairly) successful run as a football player through high school where my weight wasn't the butt of the jokes, as it became an asset to my football career. But once I started college and the weight from working out all through HS slowly moved from my chest back into my stomach, I ballooned all the way up to 305 pounds by the time my 2nd child was born.

I tried every "diet" in the world. Keto, Atkins, Weight Watchers, etc. It wasn't until I turned 45, and was 275 pounds that I decided to take my weight seriously. My cardiologist is a very frank individual, and he said to me "You rarely see fat old people. So you have a choice. You can be fat, or you can be old. You can't be both". I hooked up with a friend who happens to be a local Indy Wrestler, so he trains like a mad man, and he got me on a sustainable eating and training program that works around my lifestyle and schedule.

This sounds so cliche, but sometimes it really is as simple as "Calories in vs Calories burned". Once you realize that it's not a "diet" and it is a true lifestyle change, where you basically just create a new routine, you figure out ins't not as tough as you originally thought.

I now weight 215 pounds, wear sizes I haven't worn since I was in High School, and while I may not be where I want to be aesthetically (my stomach will never recover from going from 275 to 215 in less than 6 months without cosmetic surgery), I'm in the best physical shape of my adult life, and also medically in the best shape of my life.

It can be done, even at an advanced age.

If you have the space available, I very much recommend home equipment. With a bench and some adjustable free weights, you can put together a very solid routine for a couple hundred bucks. Everyone is constantly selling used equipment for an even cheaper investment.

Cardio equipment is a bigger investment in money and space, but you could always just walk around the neighborhood for that.

Cardio for me is:
Heavy bag
Elliptical
Row machine-also sort of resistance training

Of those, heavy bag is my favorite for fun. Elliptical is best for actual calories burned to fatigue ratio. Plus it's in front of a TV. I can do it as more or less an idle habit.

Lifting:
A bench-adjustable opens up a lot more options but a flat one works okay and is dramatically cheaper
Free weights-adjustsble dumb bells and a barbell. I only have like 250lbs of weight, so a 1 inch barbell works fine because I can use the same weights for dbs too.
Squat/bench rack- this is actually unnecessary as I actually prefer dbs for these exercises

Random:
Power tower-its like a pull/chin up/dip station. It's okay. I had no place to install a chin up bar in my current house. Dips or reverse push ups, I can just as easily do with the help of two chairs.

I invest around $100/year into something new or more weights every year which is a Planet Fitness membership cost.

Cheapest of cheap bang for your buck is dumbells and a bench

Got a half rack, bench press, double-end bag on a mat in my backyard. Two bars, one for deadlifts and one for squats. Normally deadlift 205lbs for 10 sets of 5 and squat 185lbs for 2 sets of 20. Then walk or box to decompress the spine

I buried a heavy bag stand in my backyard with a water bag in the deep part of my backyard. When grass grows under the bag it shows I've been slacking off. Flowers are growing under it now. Also outside is a trap bar with about 160lbs on it at all times. Great for farmer's walks and TB Deadlifts

In my office I have a treadmill with a spin bike in front of it. In front of the spin bike is a TV sitting on an adjustable standing desk.

Pull-Up bar in my doorway, spring and bungee trampolines

Idk How I'm fat

I have a spin bike that's cheaper + power meter pedals that are more expensive than the whole bike. It makes Zwift Races legitimate but that bike should have all you need to spin normally. You may want a cadence and speed sensor but that isn't completely necessary

Tagging.

I did keto for a few months before several major life events stopped me. I went from 260 to 220 but now I'm back up to 235 and I definitely want it to stop.

What gets me is I'm watching what I eat but that's never been enough for my body I guess. Maybe just not enough protein.

Shooting for 180 by summer of next year.

Most people can't. So don't feel bad.

If youre interested, bent over rows, reverse push ups and negative pull ups help you train your muscles for them. The very best thing is losing excess weight though. They're dramatically less difficult when you're even carrying 10 fewer pounds on you. Once you can at least do 2, you can just train by doing pull ups.
