Felt REALLY good after my workout today so I took this gym selfie. That is 10 years of work, 110 pounds down so far with building muscle. I feel good, I think ESPECIALLY with my upper body I look DAMN good. ^_^

You are Super buff.

Stopped wearing underwear under my bike stuff and I turned into Lance Armstrong. Much more comfortable riding, even virtually.

weight lifted + biked 100 miles this week but I drank way more than I should. This next week is going to be busy but Im going to try to go for another 20 miles on the bike this evening with the sporting events + benching at home

Dude, you've created some massive guns there. Most folks need to do a process that takes years to build muscle like that after the weight loss. You're doing it at the same time. With a muscle base like that you'd probably look very fit at 250 which isn't that far away. From here on out every few pounds you lose are really gonna make a difference in how you look. You should be very very proud.

I have found a trick that I would hope will help me lose weight. Get SUPER spicey food. Like for some reason that fills m up faster. However it hurts when I poop. I didn't put two in two together until today. (that is a lot of to's in that statement)

I had five chicken wings in my water/steam fryer. I wanted to do some fried rice, but can walk that much. So throwing something into a fryer was about as good as I could go. But I still went boxing so I am trying to stay on top of things . On Monday I am going to try to find a foot doctor.

If you put back on 20, perhaps your initial 1200 calorie diet was not something that was maintainable long term? Why not go to like a 1600 calorie diet with your regular lifestyle and see how your body responds?

IMO it is better to have a maintainable consistent diet in compared to going hardcore for awhile and then returning to something else.

Maybe your body doesn't want to lose anymore weight, and it is trying to hold on. I don't know how tall you are, but 118 seems like a healthy weight.

TC said I should join when I made a topic complaining about my old man problems. In particular, I injured my knee during my mini honeymoon back in November.

I am not certain what my precise goals are. I am 5'10" 180 pounds and I guess I am in decent shape for 46. But if I don't run religiously, I gain weight fast. I guess my goal would be to lose 10 to 15 pounds of fat and gain 5 to 10 pounds of muscle. So in the vicinity of 170 to 175 but more muscular. But this could change depending on how I look and feel.

I had a good day at the gym today:

3 sets of chest press
2 sets of seated row
2 sets of shoulder press
2+ sets of bicep curls

Then I ran 3.1 miles on the treadmill. Managed to get up to a 9:43 / mile pace which is better than the 10 / mile last week. But I historically did over 5 miles at about 8:30 / mile before my stupid knee. Trying to take it easy.

This should be easier in January when I do Dry January. I get too many calories from beer.

I just want to be in good shape to not disappoint my wife! Lol

Also, awesome job @Jeff_AKA_Snoopy

I used to go the gym 4 days a week, for 1-2 hours each time, and lost a lot of weight. Got out of my car one day and couldn't stand up. Long story short, was diagnosed with 3 bulging discs in my neck, 3 bulging discs in my lower back, multiple pinched nerves, degenerative disc disease, and spinal stenosis. Yay, genetics!

Well, after 3 years (and at least 30 or so procedures) I am starting the gym again next week. Unfortunately, I've put on a lot of weight because I couldn't move most days. Wish me luck!

Not really. I tend to make it up on the day of depending on how my muscles feel and how much time have (typically doing this in between meetings while working from home). Maybe I should be more disciplined?

I won't really work out tomorrow, but if my muscles are okay, I may do 40 something pushups, and maybe a bunch of crunches as well.

Also it is a really good idea to buy even just some small dumbbells for in your own place.

Even when you are feeling unmotivated and don't want to go to the gym and things of that nature, being able to put in 10 minutes of lifting makes a big difference, especially if you then maybe take a 10 minute walk.

In days where you don't feel like you can put in your BEST, give yourself easy quick things to do to maintain.

I do the gym proper 5 days a week, but even in my off days I go for a quick little 15 minute walk and lift my little 6 pound dumbbells for 10 minutes. Lol

I actually do have dumbbells. About 25 pounds each, so I can use them for a variety of things. Doing flies while laying down on the weight bench is particularly nasty at isolating the pecs.

My problem is I have tennis elbow in my left elbow, so I can no longer do pullups and even bicep curls can sometimes hurt. The seated row machine at the gym seems the safer way to work on my back and sorta gets my biceps.

Meh, I never felt it was needed. Women who are into nerdy guys aren't expecting abs. Just be in decent shape and you'll be ahead of the game.

Same to you! Join us on our fitness journeys!
I'll try to stick around. I need to stay motivated. This may sound dumb, but now that I am married again, I am concerned about getting old and slowing her down because of the age difference.

Plus, I want to see the progress of everyone else. Quite a few people here that I like and wish the best for.

Had a pretty intense day at the gym. I was fucking tired as hell when I came home earlier
I am pretty tired too

I kinda know this stuff, but not as well as you. One thing I have been doing is slow reps. Like taking 5 seconds to do a chest lift, and yes I do the reps until exhaustion. Sometimes on the last set, after reaching exhaustion, I even then drop it down 20 pounds and push out a few more.

3 minutes is good advice. I always wondered but never researched.

What I don't do is keep a journal. I really should and you are making that more clear.

Address muscle imbalances by doing one arm/one leg exercises. Stop squatting, do lunges (or my favorite Bulgarian split squats). Be conscious of your foot placement and don't let your knees cave or bow too much. It may be that your smaller leg is smaller because of too much of this.

If you can't curl as much then lower the weight and do more on the smaller arm. It could also be that the smaller arm is your non-dominant, and because of this you're compensating with forearm muscles. Your grip could also be causing you to lead with your forearm. If you have elbow pain then that's a good indicator of this too.

But see, I think people would claim that you are always motivated then, because you do it. Motivated doesn't have to mean happy about it, does it?

I know what you mean though. I have kept up running for years, and more often than not, I fucking hate it.

But I seriously don't want my wife to have take care of me in 20 years. Seems unfair to her.

When did you last eat or drink? I am very sensitive to that and have to wait like 3 hours after eating or even too much liquid. I get the same feeling after the same time.
