Why are we distracting from the real point that driving while high is bad and if you do it you're bad?

Yeah, maybe I missed something but I dont think anyone here is claiming that smoking is bad and a person who smokes is the devil.
We are saying dont drive impaired, that includes weed, drinking, lack of sleep.

Because SBell is arguing that driving while high might actually enhance your situational awareness and reaction time

My thing is, I don't trust a singular normal citizen to self-appoint themselves with some special exemption of "Oh well it actually makes me a better driver." Don't people who function perfectly under alcohol still get booked for a DWI if they blow the requisite number? I wouldn't want an exception for weed just because it's not alcohol.

If you are truly a person who needs to be high to drive comfortably, then that sucks but I don't think you as an individual get to make that call that "oh it's fine because I know it is."

I think it's just people that are saying the girl was not worth getting to know because of it. (and others because of sex-work)

Driving while drunk or high is just such a colossally stupid and selfish thing to do that I'm not sure I could look past it. It's also one if the easiest things not to do, especially in the era of cell phones and taxi/Uber where getting home from a party without driving is as simple as opening an app. I have nothing against weed. I just think that anyone who needs to be high now, so urgently that they're willing to endanger the lives of others... well, that's a person with a problem and I'd rather not get to know them on an intimate level. I probably wouldn't cut a good friend or family member out of my life because of it, though I would tell them it was stupid and I definitely wouldn't trust them to drive me home after a night out. But if it's one of the first things I learn about a person? No thanks. There are plenty of other people in the world I can get to know instead

People have said drunk driving is worse, but being less bad doesn't make it okay to do.

I mean I wouldn't advocate it either.

I wonder where being sleepy lands because in my experience that makes me like 1000x worse of a driver just by itself.

I rear ended someone because I was looking at my phone, something that is probably extremely common. Never take your eyes off the road guys.

Honestly, personally yeah. It's the idea that a person who does either of those thinks that what they want to do in that moment (Drive while impaired) is more important than the safety of someone else. Yes, it's inconvenient to have to call someone and get a ride if you're impaired. But you're risking not just yourself but other innocent people if you don't. Driving while impaired is a decision that goes beyond stupidity; it tells me that the person thinks the risk to others' lives is worth more than the inconvenience to them.

I've driven high many a time and I'm genuinely a better driver when high than when not. Not advocating for it though. It just makes me way more focused and careful.

No I'm 100% with you lol. I don't even smoke weed, but the way people were reacting like "you don't want to consort with someone who'd do that!" is wild.

Weed is good.
