Im going through all my old games at my parents place, and hes SWEARING Ill be able to get big bucks for my old PS2 games like SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom or, like, YuGiOh Capsule Monster Coliseum

Sir, this isnt Xenosaga. Getting it graded and then selling these games are gonna net me like a $4 profit

Bro didnt even know what kingdom hearts 1, 2, and CoM were and thought because it was Disney, it would sell for a bunch (he wasnt listening when I said millions of those games were made)

Dont get me started on what he has to say about my OG Pokmon cards

lmao I wonder what a PS2 remake of a GBA game is worth

about $30, since it's $27, new, at Walmart for the entire series.

or you could get just the PS2 game on Amazon for like $23

To me there is something a little weird about the current culture where everything can be graded.

Sports cards and currency were the original collectors items to be graded(as far as I can tell) and it made sense because in addition to the score you get it in a container that will keep the item safe. I guess that container thing holds true for other items but it just seems weird for a funko box to be excased in plastic with a score on it.

The more grading that happens to more things, the more watered down grading gets even though it'll turn into a formality that you can't really sell it without the grade. We even see this in the currency world when respected grading houses are now officially recognizing and labeling their slabs with minor errors that aren't too difficult to find. Like where the star in a star note serial number is all filled in, which it is supposed to be a hollow star. It is nice this gets designation as an official error, as it is one, but it's common enough it doesn't need to be called out on the slab itself as if it were something major like a second shift overprint error(I made that one up but it sounds legit so we'll go with it).

Anyways, thanks for listening to my weird rambles that probably didnt even have a clear point.

Grading anything video game related is a huge waste unless it is something super rare like an NWC cart.

Sounds annoying. To a certain level (possibly even all levels) the whole grading system is a scam. Remember reports some people testing the systems, resending the same game multiple times to different scores each time.

The big problem is the video game grading system is so arbitrary compared to pretty much anything else (comics, trading cards, etc.). For those, they have an extensive list of things that account for the grade while in video games it is just at the discretion of whoever is grading it.

But yea, huge scam.

well, for games it's like you take your game into the store and they'll check if there's any scratches on it, if it's still in box, condition of the manual and such. If it's never been opened and still has its factory shrink wrap they'll even grade the condition of the shrink wrap.

once graded... you can I guess claim your game was graded if you wanna resell it

Xenosaga Episode 3 isn't even worth all that much. It's what? $300? Why would you trade away a classic that will never be reprinted for $300?

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Xenoblade 3's DLC dropped a couple of sizable Xenosaga references, including crediting Bamco for the copyright for the material. The consensus among the community is that Takahashi was probably hinting that something Xenosaga-related is coming, whether it's just a port/remake or that Xenoblade 4 will be more integrated with Saga (which would probably also warrant a port so more than 300,000 people worldwide can legally get caught up on the story).

I would be absolutely stunned if Takahashi creates anything adjacent to Xenosaga that's not a Xenoblade tie in like he's done with KOS-MOS In the past. I could never get into the Xenoblade series but I love Xenogears/saga.

Never played Xenoblade because I don't have any Nintendo consoles.

I liked Saga but if I'm being honest with myself it's a mess of a story. Way too many antagonists and it's just not focused enough.

Gears is about the same. I liked the 'mythology' or 'creation story' aspect of Gears but I rather just separate the amazing OST from the game and enjoy just that.

Well, there's a scene in Future Redeemed (3's DLC) where a radio with the Vector logo on it does a bunch of background lore dumping and they name drop Dmitri Yuriev, presented in a context that was depicting a time before the trilogy began. And then the post-credit scene (broad ending spoilers for the whole Xenoblade trilogy and Xenosaga 3) is believed to be an alternate perspective of Xenosaga 3's post-credit scene, showing a blue dot floating through space next to the Earth on which all of Xenoblade (X aside) has taken place just after it emerged from a pocket dimension. The theory most people have grabbed onto is that the blue dot is KOS-MOS in Xenosaga 3's post-credit scene, very strongly suggesting that all of Xenoblade has taken place on Lost Jerusalem (and also explained how/why it was lost). It's all just speculation at this point, but the theory seems very plausible, especially paired with giving copyright credit to Bamco. Takahashi's cooking something.

Wow I am happy that I came back to read this reply. The idea that the Episode 3 post credits scene is KOS-MOS orbiting Lost Jerusalem has existed ever since Episode 3's release, that was my original conclusion as well. If the Xenoblade series actually takes place on Lost Jerusalem, and they actually link the two series I would drop everything and play the series because that would instantly make games that I have not been interested in up until now massively more appealing.

Also the end credit theme for Future Redeemed was sung by Joanne Hogg, who also did the credit themes for Xenogears and Xenosaga 1. It's all come full circle, which in part is likely just symbolic of the closure of having now covered the main points of Xenogears Perfect Works with the Xenoblade trilogy, but I think there's a solid chance the stories will be linked eventually.
