man i very nearly forgot to use my free draws today, the game notifies you about everything else so i'm so used to just following the yellow dot i almost never went to the draw screen. guess this is a reminder for anyone else lol

Ah damn, looks like I missed a day of the free pulls.

And I've been so used to seeing 1 AM Pacific as the daily reset that I didn't realize it's actually 1 PM in this game.

the new event boss is kinda fun. okay it's not actually fun at all, but the new rewards are welcome after farming the original one for a week.

these events and stamps and whatnot really lock you into what type of build you're going to go for, at least for now. you'd be stupid not to use zack's umbrella weapon and now glenn's new one when they give you 6-7 5 star copies without much effort. you don't have to use the character but if you do, you're probably going with those weapons.

The moment I realized you can fully automate battles outside of limit breaks, I clicked it and never looked back. Which, in most cases, would mean I don't care for a battle system, yet... I still like the way it works here? Weird. I just trust the AI knows what it's doing, and if I start to notice gaps in that trust, I'll do what I have to do.

I've been speaking with a few colleagues etc who are falling off hard, because the gacha is just too in-your-face, or whatever, and I'm remembering all those times I tried getting into Record Keeper/Moebius/so forth when they were hot here on B8, and it never happened, and I'm wondering what's changed. Me, maybe? Or maybe I'm happy to be playing on decent hardware (an iPad Air 5) - the big screen helps.

Or maybe it's just the graphics in general. Game is pretty.

to me it's really important that there aren't 3 million gachas to gacha from like there are in RK. i'm pretty confident that most of the things i'm investing in are a good choice, even with what's limited by the gacha

as for the auto battles - i've reached a couple battles where you might want to intervene on targeting (there's some boss fights in the battle tower that come with adds which blow up for enormous damage on the boss, or alternately there's times where there's adds up but a boss is charging an attack and your guys are still fighting the adds), but otherwise yeah I've never turned auto battle off

Cool... good to know. I'll keep that in mind once I get far enough.

And yeah, that makes sense. I remember Record Keeper feeling pretty overwhelming to me. Still, it's a real shame this genre's preservation standards are virtually nonexistent, because that game had such a cool concept!

Just unlocked ifrit, what point is there to replacing your limit break?

elemental type damage can be useful in a few situations. its nice for those bosses that require you to hit their weakness to lower their charge gauge. bosses with a fire weakness can take a lot of damage too. the summon quests are the biggest stamina grind ever though.

I still haven't unlocked summons, I'm guessing they're based on story? I haven't finished the First Soldier stuff yet because I've been grinding out other things.

yeah, I think it's the second to last chapter on first soldier. I was slow on it too

It's beautiful, but I'm not digging the gameplay. I've only finished the first mission, so I'll give it a little more time to see if it grows on me, but they are definitely not getting any cash out of me.

lol i cleared the 'get 3 characters to level 50' mission, then filled out the statstreams that unlocked, as well as having 2 weapons at level 90, and am still 14k power below the next mission (battle tower level 30). really slowing down here

yeah you are gonna want to manually control some of these hard bosses. my AI never uses Barrier properly but doing so got me much further on the iron giant boss on battle tower floor 30.

still can't win though so considering investing in my Iron Blade and if that doesn't work then maybe in Red and his Lunatic High....

that's my next fight in the tower. I decided to hold off since I was around 80k and that boss is around 120k. sounds like a good move based on what you're saying.

speaking of, how high are you roughly? I'm at about 87k now, levels ranging from 42-46 and most of my main weapons in the 60-70 range.

optimized i can hit 110k, i went down to 102k for that best run when switching in weaker weapons. my last guide mission was to get 3 guys to 50, so you're definitely not looking at this fight until then

Im still trying to break into the equipment tier needed to unlock level 80 stuff. I can just barely hang and it kinda drives me nuts. fortunately I still have some levels to get so there are natural ways to power up.

obviously true, but i feel like i'm starting to plateau in terms of that number - my guys are at 50 and even with 90 weapons I don't see how we're ever going to get close to this...

So I think sometimes a bit of strategy will get you through a gate faster than brute force

Anyway I went and beat the Iron Giant with this setup:

But by far the most important bit is the Iron Blade to debuff his PATK. If you have that, invest in it

Sadly that is the last guide mission so now I have to decide for myself where to focus my energy, ugh

The summons seem horrible to level up, are they worth the energy investment though? Not sure if that might be a good place to focus on

summons are useful at times (those charge meters where you have to hit weaknesses, for example) but the investment is not worth the amount of effort you have to put in. I can see myself going for that when Ive run out of other things to do. the thing is, Im sure well get bahamut and others added later that will make these guys obsolete.

one consideration is a powerful summon can be equipped by a weak character and push them through some content they may not be contributing much on otherwise. and now that my characters are at max level and gated by memories on their own statstreams, I think that once the current Event is up that powering a summon would probably be my best route to more power? Plus I've barely invested in any summon at all and they already do more damage than my characters with limit breaks at level 4-5. And that's before even unlocking the summons' stronger limits, but with requirements to beat the "Very Hard" versions of the fights that seems a ways off

Ive been thinking the same. We just got a ton of stamina that I cant hold yet so I went right to grinding Shiva. It could be a game changer in specific fights.

power is bullshit. my team of uncared for Glenn, Aerith and Red was showing 86k power but still wiped constantly on character exp 6. went and gave Aerith a few nodes in her stream, power barely changed, now never in danger

I've been ignoring power a lot too lately. It seems like the big thing is being able to interrupt, if you have the materia to break through the weaknesses, you're going to be fine, at least around the level I'm at (90k).

Speaking of Materia, is there any place to get the materia enhancement stuff aside from chocobo expeditions? I've been using my trash materia to level stuff, but it's so slow!

nah you just have to pump out a ton of crappy materia, have all 5 slots of your synthesis always in action, ruin finishes in half an hour (or instantly in 1 bookmark) so you can get a ton of them out and they're worth the same exp as cure

Thanks! My eventual goal is to have 3 really good Materia for each spell so everybody on the team can use a specific one depending on weaknesses, but the odds of getting a % instead of flat stats seem pretty rough.

yeah that's about where I'm at, just trying to fill in the spell requirements first before i worry about good substats. also noticed that quake blow/aero blow don't seem to exist yet which kinda sucks

it is crazy how much materia you have to put in at level 7 or so to level it up. its like, level 4? maybe 3 stars if materia. level 8? something like 30

Just got Lifeguard Wraps to level 90. That full party heal has saved my ass too many times already

being efficient, until you clear out the exchange, the yellow watermelon event highest level co-op battle is imo the best use of energy right now. but not if you don't have a character who can clear it, and also not if the character you can clear it with is already at 50. if you can be leveling a character there though it's great payoff until the exchange is empty

40,800, eh? Not quite there yet, but not terribly far off - I think the highest I can get is like 35k right now. Cool, something to work toward in the next couple of days!

The power numbers aren't that important. You want to be closeish, but I'm clearing stuff that's around 10k more than my current power, you just need to be able to interrupt when the bosses are charging for their big attacks

co-op missions are hard gated to a degree, as in you need a minimum power to enter, and I believe you cover it - and you'll be absolutely fine in it because the rest of your party are likely to be closer to/over the power level. gamble it and see what happens, as long as you have a water blow and the right sigil you should be fine

I don't know how you guys do it. I play this game all the time, have to charge my phone throughout the day so it doesn't run out of battery, am close to level 50 with 95kish power... and still have like 90 stamina tonics.

are you using stamina boost? a mission takes about one full tonic when boosted so they burn down real quick, I was done with mine in like 20 minutes today
