MrMallard 08/21/23 6:27:46 PM #109:	Mario has been sounding tired in the last few Martinet voiced games. This is sad, but it's not surprising. I'm happy they're keeping Martinet on as a Mario guy. No bones about it, this guy's contribution to the character of Mario is a significant factor into why the character is as popular as Mickey Mouse and Pikachu. The man is a legend, and he will be missed - but it's not totally surprising that we've reached a point where he's not voicing Mario. I hope he at least got the opportunity to retire rather than get forced out by Nintendo y'know. Like he could have negotiated the whole Mario ambassador thing himself, or Nintendo could have stood him down from the role and given him a consolation prize. I don't really know. Personally, I think Charles Martinet realises that his voice is reaching a point where it doesn't capture the same Mario so he made the decision to step down - at least, that's the best case scenario for this in my opinion. --- All I can eat is the poisonous apple, and that's not a story that I'm meant to survive. <cite>MrMallard posted [p:975579948] in Charles Ma... If you like him, you should watch the last quarter of the second season, he has a plotline where he reconciles with his former drug addict daughter who he cut contact with seven years prior. His character, Paul, is a really loathable character who's basically the only sane person in a law firm full of kooks. This plotline is intense, frustrating and sad - basically he seeks to reconcile with his daughter, and he learns that she had a daughter three years ago. They're fighting in his office later on, and he has this incredible monologue that's like: "In the final stages of your mother's illness, I let my mind wander to you. I thought of being there for the birth of my first granddaughter and learning to love a baby again. How *dare* you take that from me?" Keep in mind, he cut contact with her and didn't speak to her for seven years. That's the frustrating part of this plotline.
