I'm sort of annoyed that all the battles feel like curated set pieces where the NPCs always have the terrain advantage by design unless you've done the fight before. It's mostly utility spells: Detect Thoughts, Speak with Animals, Feather Fall, Enhanced Leap, Longstrider(this lasts all day, so the entire party gets extra movement), Disguise Self(useful in tandem with the amulet that gives you an all day Speak with the Dead, since you can fool corpses of enemies you kill by changing yourself before speaking with them). Minor Act 2 spoilers in image, I tagged it just in case I did this earlier today, it was pretty crazy. I lost the first time. The second time I put Fire Wall on Gale and cast it on the east side where the ~~archers and dogs~~ come from. The Fire Wall made things so much easier, combined with Cleric's Spirit Guardians and Guardian of Faith. A lot of my playtime is sneaking around the same area and brainstorming tactics for a fight. To me the most impressive feature is the facial animations which are better than many of the biggest AAA titles. Again I'm not offering this as a putdown but simply asking, what is it about this game in sum that's caused this weird reaction in a way something like Tears of the Kingdom did not?
