For real, she's so adorable. ;_; I haven't used her at all so I decided she'll be a main party member in playthrough #2. I hear it's really fun throwing people around willy nilly.

I've had both her and Lae'zel in the party for the majority of the game, and it's just absurd how much damage they're capable of dishing out together.

I talked my way out of the fight with the Gith on the bridge and then tried to check out the mountain pass and it gave me the point of no return warning.

That is a point of no return, but only for the goblin/druid conflict questline.

I'm really into Gale, personally. He's dorky and I enjoy the professor vibe he has. And someone that adores her cat irl, I love how much he loves HIS cat and how he'll ramble about her and worry about how my character would get along with her lol. Finally romancing him now, too. People online complain about him being ultra thirsty and begging and all that but for me, I had him in my party this entire time and he's always liked me, but not until the end of act 2 did he finally start things with me. Homie made me wait so long!!

I'm really curious about how different people have reported different experience with romance willingness. For me literally everyone in my party was begging for sex besides Wyll the night in act 1 we rescured the tieflings

I noticed that in the celebration camp they'll all give you flirty lines but even if you try to pursue them all you get rejected by everyone except who has the highest approval

Gale is under the impression that he's wooed me, and annoyingly, so is the game, it seems. There was a particular instance where one of my options in a dialogue was "Use your feelings for Gale to distract the person trying to read your mind" and I'm like, "Bitch, I don't have any feelings for Gale."

I can't really even tell him I'm not interested, because the dialogue option to do that is "There were some feelings there once, but there aren't now. Sorry," and that's not right either.

I got and went along with the first 3 and the last one was the only one that went anywhere, and she had the highest approval

I responded to Astarion's first line and he says 'Sex! but not with you'

At this point I'm pretty sure the romances can easily be bugged to hell and it sounds like Gale gets it a lot lol. Yesterday I was talking to Karlach, doing my usual camp rounds, and I get a dialogue option to let her know that I chose Gale. I'm like...uh? Not once have I flirted with her. A hug, for what I feel is very appropriate one in context, and that's all. Cue the most guilt-inducing scene of kicked puppy Karlach crying about her broken heart and I'm feeling a weird mixture of immense confusion and feeling like crap lol.

Did you try to follow through with Astarion? For me, it sounded like he was coming on to me at first, but when I tried to respond positively, I got hit with the devastating, "Sex with you? Eurg, no. Ew!" line.
For Gale, I did that scene, but when I responded about picturing us being romantic, he got surprised and said he didn't expect me to think of that and he ended things for the night. He said he was happy, though, and felt similar.

yeah I think there might still be some buggy story triggers. I havent encountered any major bugs so far though

Edit: exploring the map before moving onto the underdark/mountain and finally found Astarion. Mildly amused it took me this long. Didn't even realize I had missed him. >_<

I was a little disappointed that you cannot end the quest by just destroying the wand out of sight, you have to either give it to her, show it to her then steal her husband, or break it in front of her.

Yeah, this bothered me too. If you just talked to her and offered condolences, the quest stayed open, and I don't think there was any way of closing it that didn't involve the wand.

I ended up just throwing the wand into deep water because I couldn't destroy it, and leaving the quest unfinished in my journal.

Funny thing is I only resurrected the husband because I wanted to teach that deluded maniac a lesson. But then the game was like "by the way he's bound to the wand" and at that point, sure whatever. Lol

yeah I restarted a few times trying to find the 'correct' answer and just gave up and let her deal with it

what could possibly go wrong?

Oh shit. I had that on my mind as I was doing the quest and completely forgot. Thanks. >_>

And someone mentioned Gale being boring, I'm inclined to agree. When one of the other characters interrupt the game for a cutscene you learn something cool, either about them or the current scenario.

Everytime Gale interrupts it's always "I'm going through withdrawal let me eat your +1 boots".

Maybe I'd have given a shit about his big reveal if I was more invested in DnD's lore. "I fucked God and turned myself into a bomb that eats magic" just doesn't hook me lol

Finished act 2. Awesome dungeon and climax.

I *think* I got almost to the end of the underdark. I had to long rest down there which is funny cause everyone still shows up for camp.

Where is the exact location of where Act 2 starts? I have the choice of either going to the Underdark or the Mountain Pass?

Act 2 starts when you get to the shadow-cursed lands. Either way will get you there, just at a different point on the map.

Cleared out everything in the opening area, cleared the underdark (that was a fun dungeon crawl), now I'm holding off on going to the towers by doing the mountain pass map. Finished up the Crche, (nice gear for that one). I don't know how to use Wyll. He just constantly dies because I can't give him good armor.

you can do both if you want. Just at a certain point in Act 2 they stop you from going back to either

It's not until toward the end of Act 2, though, so you have a lot of time to backtrack

I managed to get his AC to 15, but yeah he's still squishy. Just make sure he stays not too close to the fighting. Items that allow him to Misty Step are crucial, as is the spell itself. Otherwise, you gotta keep the tanks in front of him. Don't let me use anything other than his spells and Eldritch Blast.

I'm in a very big fight.

It has its own goddamn theme music.

I'm preparing in a couple of ways:

1: Potions of Speed for everybody

2: Summon a Deva

3. Usual buffs, with fire resistance for everyone who doesn't have it already (it's that kind of day)

4. Laezel has 27 goddamn strength

5. I have several scrolls of Globe of Invulnerability, got everyone all scooted together and popped it the same turn they took the potions, we're in our magic anime bubble and ready

6. Summon my familiar and have him stand outside the bubble (it's not Scratch, I'm not a monster)

Trigger the fight.

The final step that I realized only while typing this:

Laezel still has her barrel of smokepowder.

Okay I am completely lost in the Underdark lol. I think I've revealed most of the accessible map but can't seem to find my way to the next area.

Activated the Arcane Tower but didn't find much besides some nerdy poetry robots.

so how badly does picking an origin character neuter the personality of said pick? Is the black slate custom personality applied over them or are dialogues still in character?

Take the boat that's by the slavers/waypoint.

That takes you to another area with Cultists/an elevator.

Pick up any and all ore that you find in that area. I was able to get some OP armor for two characters in there

i got this weird bug where when i click on Lea'zell, the terrain just sorta disappears

So, I've got a question and no internet sleuthing has given me an answer.

I'm playing a bard, and you get 3 "bardic inspiration" spell slots to use per long rest, only I never get to use them because they just randomly disappear one by one as I'm playing.

Like, I threw a pot of fire at a spider and it used one. I took my short rest song or whatever the hell it's called and it used one.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm so damn confused.

You get enough unique dialogue options that their personality still comes through, but on the other hand, you don't get to hear their voiced lines

Got him a shield and a cloak of protection, his AC is now 16, should be good now

How does pickpocketing work? I thought I could steal everything until I failed a check but it seems npcs randomly become aware instead?

They don't stop moving while the pickpocket screen is up, so it's possible that either the NPC you're pickpocketing turned around or someone else walking around saw you

That's my guess, anyway.

I've stolen everything. You probably failed a check or if the NPC is mobile they have turned around and saw you. Dunno if it works like in DOS2 where you can lock an NPC down with another player, but if you need a distraction a Bard helps.

It's so annoying when NPCs run away from your pet. The tiefling blacksmith died because he went into the cursed area when he was running away from my beastmaster's pet so I had to reload that time.

Couldn't you pickpocket in turn based mode to avoid that? I haven't tried pickpocket specifically but it works when lockpicking.

I don't know, I haven't really done any pickpocketing myself. That sounds like something that could work, though.

Turn based mode doesn't seem to stop other NPCs, but does stop your buffs from counting while trying to clean them out.

Smuggler's Ring + Cat's Grace + Guidance is near guaranteed success rates with Expertise in Sleight of Hand.

I like that so many side quests end with "maybe we'll see them again at Baldur's Gate", it's really building to be the mecca of the adventure
