So what concerns you most about the country, your life etc?

For me the economy, the state of dysfunction now gripping the country, costs of healthcare and living in general, retirement, certain factions keeping the country divided and finances.

Most of these things tie together in the geopolitical mess we reside under. It all comes down to the economic side, though, because of the avarice and gluttony of a relative few. Therefore, I answered economics.

Economy. Inflation at 7% last year. My company offers 2% raises annually if you meet expectations and 3% if you exceed. So every year my pay diminishes by 4 to 5%. Promotions cap you at a 10% increase so simply to maintain your pay you need a promotion every 18 months basically to keep up.

"The country"?
This. Everything has a dynamic/happy undercurrent if the country feels as if it's on the rise/improving/admirable. Everyone living there (unless discriminated against, of course) feels like they are contributing to a whole that they want to be a part of.

If, instead, the country feels like it's incompetent or just existing to make the rich richer...then everything has an undercurrent of dirty pointless selfishness. Things have been sliding towards the latter in the US for quite a while: you could pick many start points, but I'll go with Reagan and the end of the Cold War in the 80s. We won, but we lost our righteous purposefulness in the process and Reagan greatly accelerated the path towards greed. But everything has felt outright dirty since we elected Trump. Before him I never would have thought the country was SO gone as to elect an obvious, obvious con man President. Now I sadly know better.

My personal finances/etc...whatever. If my life fits into a greater purpose I can at least somewhat happily fit myself into it. If not...gross existential crisis.

And while I'm at it lets add nuclear war also. Do we think that we, as a species, are going to be able to avoid using those on ourselves again? It's a matter of time.

Inflation/economy.

I took a 8k pay cut (68 to 60) to work at a less stressful company. Then inflation hit and iv only been compensated by a dollar pay increase. Meanwhile people i use to work with that made 70k is are now up to 85-90k im just sitting at 65k trying to survive. Im trying to contribute 30% of my pay to 401k over the next 5 years just to get back into retirement contention talk

As in, is it asking the question about the country I live in, or a separate, perhaps arbitrary one (probably the US...)?

I doubt politicians will ever solve or care about the financial problems of one man. It can be your biggest worry but it's never a priority for anyone beyond yourself and maybe some friends/family.

Cereal prices were always ridiculous for the time, and varied heavily on where you bought it and what sales/coupons you had.

Sure they weren't $7.50 for a box of mini-wheats but I remember it being very high at one store and vastly cheaper at another or during a certain time of year.

It depends on the size of the box. Walmart only sales the family size boxes unless it's a brand that doesn't have one of those. It can be cheaper to buy at other places depending on sale prices. Like when I saw Pringles for $2.50 each on sale at a grocery store a few weeks ago.
