I'm running out of ideas for topic titles but D4DJ's second season is airing and it's fun and connected to a gacha so let's go with that.

Anyways, this topic is for discussion of all the various games where you put in your time and money effort in hopes of recruiting the hero or waifu of your dreams... yes, welcome to the wonderful world of gacha games! Princess Connect: ReDive, Arknights, Counterside, Fate Grand Order, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, and many, many more unique games are waiting for you to happily spend your money enjoy your time playing them.

So let's continue our discussion: what gacha games are you playing or looking forward to these days? Which do you spend the most time on, and which are you just collecting login bonuses in until you feel like actually playing them again? Ill try the PC version of Honkai Star Rail and then go back to having no gachas to play like has been the case since August.

Aww man...I saw there was a new Tower of God gacha and was sort of excited because I liked Hero Cantare (which was a crossover of a bunch of webtoons, including ToG), but had to drop it due to time constraints. Unfortunately the new ToG standalone game looks kinda ass. It's an idle game with separate currency for rate up banners, and weapons included in the summoning pool to dilute your rates :<

World Flipper is handing out a billion 10 pulls for their 1.5 anniversary, which is silly to think about cuz JP version just celebrated their 4th or something. It's still a soulcrushing experience where you basically have to say ok, I can't do like 75% of the content if I'm a newcomer, but sadly I'm no longer a newcomer but stuck in this bizarre subsect of missing really important units that were limited time releases for whatever bizarre reason.

I really hate those missions, for sure.

The repeat simulation isn't the worst, just very time consuming and annoying. But the ones where you need to spend gems suck. As refreshing won't always give a 30 point mission again.

Yeah, and of course it had to happen on the day I wouldve hit the next milestone.

I remember the anime being really fun and it got me excited for this game, but it was delayed for so long that I forgot it was coming out at all. Good to see it's actually coming out, now hopefully the next thing I see about it is an English launch and not an EoS announcement. Then again, this is Bandai Namco we're talking about here.

Project Neural Cloud valentine event is basically 'Professor against everyone'.

Got an exclusive CG for some characters and a surprisingly enjoyable minigame (for big brain people at least). Very nice.

Been playing FEH for the first time since year 1 when I obsessed over it. Honestly because I have like 0 commitment to it, it's been a pretty good experience. Way too many mechanics and the effect text is straight up worse YGO, but generally I'm just like eh I'll bash some units into it and hope it works, and it usually works

Arknights should have prepared you well for that!

Not even Arknights could compare. Although there were some long descriptions in Arknights, there weren't enough characters to compare with all the skills and weapons in FEH :<

Yeah FEH doesn't even have like a proper structure or consistent format like YGO text does either. It just kinda feels all over the place, and there are actually too many conditionals that I don't think any regular person can actually keep track of.

In YGO, there are a lot of text, but in reality, there are almost always just 1 thing happening in a fixed proper sequence. Because everything has a proper activation order where costs are paid, and the resolution happens in the backwards order where you can see the chain of things resolving one by one slowly, it's not that hard to keep track of things.

In FEH, fucking like 3-4 different things happen simultaneously and automatically by the system. You'll end up in a situation where you go: "oh, I just got like fucking 10+ stat on each stat, and it also lets me get +4 on attack and also it only reverses stats on this situation, also the special cooldown sometimes gets so quick that you do a billion dmg all the time, OR sometimes the enemy prevents that from happening," and that happens... simultaneously and instantly. Then there are things that happen after the move

FEH is just a cesspool. I think the only way to actually play it is to just let things happen and just go wtf RNG rather than actually figure out what's going on anymore. FEH used to be able to be figured out on the fly, but I don't think it's the way to play anymore. But people whaling and going for the big rankings? They probably have to grit their teeth and figure it out.

Yes... the whole first full paragraph happens simultaneously, then if the bonus was on that unit which is applied by random ass shit, then the 1st sentence happens, which is described in the 3rd and 4th paragraph, with some random restriction stuff on the bottom.

It's a mess. This is why keywords don't work when the effects are complicated.

In YGO, effects are structured in order: summoning conditions, summon effect, on field conditions, on field effects, leaving the field effects, overall restrictions. If the monster is already summoned, you read the shit in the middle, which is how you save time on reading

In FEH, you have to read the 1st full paragraph, which all the effects happen all at the same time, and there can be upwards of 3 effects, some of them requiring maths like the one there with the number of units nearby (lol kill me), and you also gotta know the symbol for [bonus] so that you know it's active, which the symbol isn't even on the effect, so you gotta guess, then after the combat, you have to read backwards on the first sentence, which leads to descriptions on the 3rd and 4th paragraph. It's completely not clear what you have to read at what point, so you have to read them all

But oh wait, there's more. Every unit has 3 passives just as long that also happen at different intervals, 1 extra passive that's one of the 3 passive types, the extra effect for like elements that only activate on certain modes or situations, the blissfully simple movement/buff move, then the special cooldown move that can happen mid combat, which can also have paragraphs of their own.

Again, gotta read them all. You don't know when which one is gonna happen

I now remember there are T-Dolls in GFL that has long-ass skill description (Jill from Va-11 Hall-A collab doesn't really count because hers are structured like bar/drink menu).

Yeah, Jill's skills were nicely worded. Not like 4 bigass paragraphs that cover 90% of the screen lol

Kal'tsit looks positively concise and brief compared to those descriptions.

Also looks like we'll get details for the Monster Hunter Collab soon, with an actual limited banner like the Rainbow Siege/Six? one was.

And in Niike news, seems Dolla got one fine skin with ample arse - which makes the coats on the collab units even more dumb tbh.

While this has low relevance to gachas, I'm frequently reminded of the times I saw completely otherworldly misogyny being a unanimously upvoted comment in Naver, a publicly highly used platform in Korea, under the whole Guardian Tales cosplayer controversy that happened that one time

It honestly puts women on such a... straight up fictional antagonistic point of view to the point where it would be a miracle of any one of those person were in a legitimate relationship with an opposing sex.

Well it's been a few years since then where I had the worries that this seemed deeply rooted in a much grander societal problem Korea is going through. I'm from there so I know a lot more about their culture than the average American, even the average Korean Americans as my family still keeps close contact with people from there but...

They recently broke the record again for the lowest fertility rate of .78 per 1 person. This is like .3-4 difference between the 2nd lowest, I believe. And yes, that is the correct decimal placing.

It's kinda funny to see the signs on the wall stemming from various gacha related controversies. I think Epic Seven also went through it, when there were so many other more pertinent issues they needed to deal with at the time. But yeah it's kinda crazy to see a country so eager to send itself to doom
