Getting tired of their shit.

Can you back up past that poll? Can you drive to the door? Can you pull into that parking?

No, you fuck! Just give me my food. Fuck your metrics or whatever reasoning you have for this bullshit. For decades its been simple af order, pay, get food. Thats it.

And you know what fuck Walmart and their lack of bags or making me pay for bags, too.

I remember having to pull ahead over a decade ago. They probably have you do it because food is taking a little longer than usual so to get the line moving they have you pull ahead.

This ain't really a big deal. People who get upset over this stuff are kinda weird

*shrug* It's faster for me when they send the people in front of me to the side to wait for their not-quite-ready special orders and give me the ready and waiting burgers and fries. I'm all for metrics.

If we want to complain I suggest we complain about the places that can't for the life of themselves figure out how to balance online and in-person orders. Or places where they force you to order through a screen that is overly complex. Or places where they've got one person working who doesn't really want to be working and they should be closed but I already ordered and it's going to take 40 minutes.

This I get. But they consistently run out of those bags and then you only have the option of getting the more expensive bags. And sometimes they dont even have that.

as someone that lives in a province where I willingly voted those people in - let me counter with this. people have become fucking stupid because of convenience, and retraining people to know how to bring a bag with them isn't as psychotic as it's portrayed by those claiming some overreach of the state. like, I get being butthurt if the state suddenly banned...cars. but plastic bags?

plastic bags didn't exist until 1965. somehow I don't remember society fundamentally being changed by the plastic bag, besides the fact that they're fucking everywhere now.

also, I find that the differences in how multiple local McDonald's perform where I live typically rotates slowly over the duration of a decade or so. there are a couple that I avoid that used to be fast as hell, and are now just insane waits. there're a couple locations though that just whip people through the drive-thru. I'd say they're the same as the general restaurant industry - it's an ebb and flow of idiot managers, struggling workers, and circumstance.

It probably changes person to person For me, most of the time when I go to the store, its a spur of the moment type thing Which is why most of the time, I dont bring any reusable bags with me That said, I also like plastic bags since I reuse them quite often More than the reusable bags, tbh

I just have a bag of bags in my car at all times. Even if I take an unplanned trip to a store, I've got one or more bags I can use as needed. If I randomly decide to go pick stuff up when I'm on my way home from work and don't have my car (I usually walk or bike to work), I've got a backpack (and if I made a habit of making such trips and picking up more than I could carry with just the backpack, I could stick a bag or two in there).

I just use fold-top sandwich bags to scoop poop as needed. It's like $2 for a box of 100 that lasts for a few months, so not exactly an appreciable cost.

They also weren't personally affected by those things (at least not directly and obviously, since the space program is responsible for many everyday products that people don't necessarily realize came from it), so that's not exactly the best comparison.

I am fine with the no plastic bags thing. I had been collecting and trying to use them all since 2007, they were banned here back in 2015 and I just used up the last of them I had stored up last year.

Not having paper bags though is bullshit. Sometimes I forget to get my reusable bags out of my car and don't feel like abandoning half a cart full of groceries in the middle of the store so I can go back out and grab them.

My grandmothers were both arguably affected by the female side of the Civil Rights Movement, but they still never really brought it up and talked about it in a way that somehow validated it as a significant phenomenon.

On top of which, my grandparents definitely lived through the period where the adoption and escalation of automobile use completely altered nearly every facet of American life (from how we shop, to how we date, to where we live, to what we eat), which abso-fucking-lutely had a massive impact on their life, and they never really talked about that either.

On the flip-side, I basically grew up during the computer and Internet revolutions, and they absolutely had a huge impact on my life - and I rarely ever discuss them with people in the real world, so it's not as if I'm an example of major cultural impacts being something you constantly tell the next generation about either.

I have a reusable bag, but havent seen it in years That said, I think it might have been tearing a little last time I saw it But Id definitely forget nearly every time Especially since Id probably be undressed by the time the groceries are out up Even on a planned trip, Id probably forget them And while I do have a backpack, my isnt that big, and usually full already And starting to tear, so it cant hold much the only time I carried an empty backpack to the store was in tech school. And it wasnt enough room. So, I got some guys from the dorm to help me carry stuff home. Though, luckily, they had plastic bags. Haha. Anyway, either way, my stores still give them out right now, which is good

Sandwich bags are small and won't work like that for urine. Plastic bags are better. This state would never ban them anyway.

Do the comparison between plastic bags, the space program and Civil Rights. They're rather different. Like you said in subsequent posts, inventions like the automobile completely changed the lives of our grandparents. As did television. Different people arbitrarily didn't discuss certain things, like the space program or civil rights. I don't meet people that discuss how the plastic bag changed their life. You will meet people that discuss the space program or civil rights.

A better line of questioning to refute my idea would be that plastic packaging did invote in areas like grocery packaging, allowing longer freshness. The bag that transported them home did not provide innovations beyond convenience.

I recall this being part of it - keeping orders under the 2-minute mark. That being said, where I worked, people resisted doing it arbitarily for this reason. There are the times where it made logistical sense - ie someone orders a crispy chicken blah blah blah and the chicken will be 4 more minutes while the people behind are getting coffees, muffins, burgers that are ready, etc. so yeah, a lot of fast food places sink or swim on how sycophantic and dumb the management is.

funniest screwup I had about a year ago with a friend...drive-thru gave him pancakes with two forks, no knife. it was super early in the morning, so we went back through and told her nicely. she acted shocked. we showed her the two forks and she slapped her forehead, and said "OH NO!!!". Then she gave us a handful of knives.
