One of 32 jobs. Good pay. Expectations should be pretty low until they get some more pieces. If things don't work out, you can probably go back to being a coordinator with a nice pay day. You get to make some career connections to. And I feel like at this point the Texans can't fire another black coach after one season without drawing some eyebrows barring a Hackett level catastrophe.

Also Leftwich went from being sought after last year to being unemployed this year. You never know how perception will change in a year, so it is probably better to take a less than ideal job than to wait another year and hope you're still the hot candidate.

Yeah, Leftwich and Moore are good examples of why you should jump when you get a chance if you want to coach because opinions on coordinators can change from year to year.

The playoffs are most certainly rigged, especially the conference championships. Goodell wants to use the Super Bowl to hook casuals and he does that by choosing which teams make for the best storyline (i.e. this year "Andy Reid faces his former team" and "Mahomes Mahomes Mahomes"). This starts in the Divisional round but was really painfully obvious in the AFC and NFC Championships this year.

However, the regular season is fine. Getting to the playoffs is completely fair. But then the amount of unfair calls skyrockets come the playoffs because the NFL wants to control who is in the Super Bowl.

It's literally impossible to rig football without it being blatantly obvious

The Bengals had two drives late with the ball and the game tied and didn't do anything with it unless you're saying they had to mess up on purpose

Also the fact that the Cowboys haven't been in a conference championship in almost 30 years is proof the league isn't rigged

I feel like the video of that bengals player lambasting his teammate for that shove on mahomes should be enough proof that it's not rigged, if players knew they were gonna lose why would they react like that? He clearly had no idea he was being recorded.

FWIW I would absolutely believe that refs intentionally have their fingers on the scale (Rather than just raw incompetence), and also that sometimes it's literally not enough because there are limits to what they can actually do without ruining the credibility in the eyes of e.g sports bettors

Do refs sometimes make bad calls on purpose? Probably, but I'd argue it's because they don't like someone more than they're on the take or something like that.

Or it's something stupid like refusing to overturn pass interference reviews even when it's blatantly obvious they blew the call.

I think it's easier to be corrupt with no-calls than calls because there's always the excuse that they just didn't see the penalty.

Kyle Shanahan says he doesn't foresee any scenario where Jimmy G is on the Niners next year.

Considering their QB situation, that's a pretty definitive answer.

This is the biggest tell. They would have absolutely rigged the Bills into the Super Bowl story for the feel good moment, and they likely would have done some Hamlin moment and all that.
