Wild that it's apparently being treated as a bigger story here then it is in the US.

i'm 90% sure it's a hate crime against the asian population in general. can continually blame the GOP and trump for this shit ever since the pandemic started.

I know the place. Behind a Chinese bakery. Sort of a ballroom. They play mah jong there. Apparently a lunar new year gathering was shot up. Some local Asian media is saying an Asian male was the shooter but this has not been officially confirmed.

There's certainly no quick or easy way to do it. Reality will break anyone who thinks there is of that delusion eventually. It's a cultural issue at it's core and until you find a way to improve that the only thing that's going to change is the scenery.

Anyone seriously suggesting that is an idiot. That said, so's anyone who thinks infringing the rights of law abiding citizens in a desperate attempt to "do something" is a good idea. The guns are the tools, not the root cause and criminals don't give a single fuck if you declare them illegal. All you accomplish by doing that is creating a large black market and making all guns harder to track. Don't believe me, ask your local drug dealer exactly how much being illegal has hurt their business next time you go to buy some coke.

What you need to help things on the "tools" side of the equation is increased legal access with much more thorough screening and tighter training requirements. No more of this "constitutional carry" bullshit. As for the cultural side, we can start holding media more accountable for the shit they put out.

That is simple and it is because mass shootings happen daily or more than once a day in trigger happy America that no one gives a crap anymore. Everyone is used to it or expects it.

People are more surprised when a day goes by that there hasn't been a mass shooting.

And you still haven't explained how you think the argument presented in the post I replied to and what I actually said got conflated in your head. You also seem to have this notion that I'm arguing against gun control instead of for it. No. I'm arguing against dumb fucks who think they can wave a wand and put the genie back in the bottle with a ban.

It'd take a Saturday afternoon in my backyard workshop to show you exactly how toothless your "ban" would be to folks who don't care about legality. Y'know, people like the sort who get radicalized by media or are mentally unstable and go shoot up public gatherings. You don't like reality? Tough shit. Reality doesn't care.

Say you do, in all probability irreversibly damage the rights of all citizens in the blind hope it'll accomplish something. Say it plays out exactly as logic dictates it will and the people who were doing mass shootings are now just blowing things up or driving vehicles into crowds or stabbing people or buying illegal and untraceable guns and shooting places up anyway... what do you do to fix it then? Last I checked inanimate objects don't cause anything. They're just tools put to the use the person holding them chooses. And if those tools are off the table, other tools will be substituted because the tool ain't the source of the motivation. But please keep thinking you can fix broken people by taking away some of their toys.
