I'm ignoring all the clickbait about "Rumors suggest Packers will consider trading Rodgers to AFC team" because water is wet.

Like... duh? At his age, Rodgers won't be in the league much longer. Might as well get something while he's worth enough - but it's only a consideration, withno certainty that it'll actually happen. I can see that happening with the Raiders (if Davante is okay with it), Texans (ouch), Colts (lol), Jets, and Dolphins (just how injured are their QBs?). I don't know the draft capital situation for each team, though. Gutekunst will want a first rounder or two second rounders.

If Rodgers goes to the Jets, expect him to sign with the Viqueens after a year.

As someone who hates Rodgers, I would love to see the twilight of his career be several years of getting absolutely dominated by Josh Allen and the Bills.

"Eh"

Colts consistently underachieved because they overestimated what he could do with QBs. Hopefully Carolina doesn't repeat that mistake.

I feel like they should've given Wilks a second chance instead of Reich. Wilks first shot had Josh Rosen at QB. And he managed to almost get the Panthers into the playoffs without picking his own staff. Reich should've sat out a year.

-Threw the first TD pass for the Panthers franchise
-Played in the franchise's first game
-Is the team's first offense-oriented HC. Yes, every other HC was either defense-minded or "rebuilder"

I don't think they can just not play Trey Lance after all they gave up to get him, unless they can find a trade partner.

Also Dan Quinn once again isn't taking a head coaching job.

Trey Lance will remain in SF as Purdy's backup and will be ready to come in if he gets hurt or looks like ass next year. That's my take.

This isn't a Mike White situation. Purdy is 8-0 and the offensive has gotten notablybetter with him than it was with Garrapolo.

yeah but Jimmy G isn't that good, they would've gotten rid of him if they had any takers

it's possible Lance isn't good either, but there's no way to know that yet so I don't think this qualifies as a sunk cost fallacy like with the Jets who absolutely have to move on from Zach Wilson

I guess you can keep rolling with Purdy if you think he's a big reason why they're 8-0

or it's possible he's 8-0 because the defense is so good that he hasn't had to be a reason why they win

i dont remember the exact numbers but the 49ers put up 30+ points in most, if not all of Purdys starts

Despite what they gave up for Lance theres really no reason to start anyone else at QB while the offense is humming so well (even if its not because of Purdy)

Purdy's offense is also good because of CMac.

I mean, I'm a Purdy believer. If he takes them to the SB, he deserves to keep the job.

I think the 49ers are just built where you can plug almost any QB who doesn't make too many mistakes and do very well.

Which means their best bet is probably to trade Purdy to some sucker for a high draft pick.

There have been a lot of videos trying to capitalize on the 49ers/Purdy hype for clicks, but here's one I found that isn't just regurgitating surface level points, but is actually analyzing Purdy's play within the context of the play itself:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hpgX90C-Y8

It isn't just "Shanahan built a super team so put anyone with a pulse here", there are relevant things to be said about how Purdy is performing beyond just being adequate enough to execute the system.

He sees the field well, he goes through his progression well, and he's shown accuracy at all ranges. And sure sometimes (in my opinion) he tries to thread the needle a bit more than he should, but he's generally been accurate enough to justify it.

I'm 100% on board with finding a new home for Lance and trying to recover some amount of what we spent to acquire him, I'd also be down to find a new home for Jimmy, he deserves to start somewhere for at least a year or two and there are teams that could use him, but so far Purdy has been the kind of quarterback that you HOPE a round 1 draft will become after a year or two. Find a veteran QB who will be willing to spend a couple years as his backup and call the matter resolved.

just my opinion as a Niners fan.

Oh, I think Purdy has shown he can play in the league. His success isn't a fluke, but I don't think you can tell how high his ceiling is just yet. He hasn't been put in a position where he has to lead a team from behind and be the reason they win.

Also Jimmy G is an unrestricted free agent after this season, so he definitely won't be back since some desperate team will get suckered into making him their starter (all he does is win, after all, like Tebow and Purdy).

Can I give a hot take here, I don't actually think jimmy g is that bad? He was on pace I think for close to 4k yards, he had a 16/4 td/int ratio, completing 67% of his passes...like that's fine isn't it? You could do a lot worse than him.

If you want to argue injury, no qualms with that but like...he was having a good season. I don't get why jimmy gets tossed to the wayside after a good, albeit partial season, while purdy has "shown he can play" despite a simliar stat line in an also partial season.

Jimmy G is in that tier of 'good enough to be worth starting, but not good enough to drag a bad team to success' QBs that are often underrated and overrated at the same time.
