(P4 has the best party member S-links by far) P5 has a very high average. Kawakami, Iwai, Chihaya, and of course Sojiro are all great. Takemi is good as well. But the party members have weaker stories overall than in P4, so I prefer P4 on the whole. P3... has mostly terrible S-links. Yumi's is pretty good, if a bit slow in the middle. 5 has a better average across the board (Kawakami, Hifumi, Iwai), but they still have Oda. Oda sucks donkey dick almost as much as Nozomi does. P4's main advantage over P3 is that P4G adds two excellent non-party member S-Links (Adachi and Marie's were both awesome IMO) while the new P3P ones are almost all party member S-Links, plus FeMC doesn't get Maya. They're both among the worst of all time. I liked the politician a lot, definitely one of the best confidants in P5. Overall my favorites are Nanako/Dojima and the Sun social link from P3 by a pretty clear margin. I will say P5 probably has the highest median social link quality of the 3 games though imo. But I can't think of any others. Yoshida is pretty cool, but his story is lacking compared to many others. Even so, I prefer Yoshida to roughly half of the P3 NPCs and at least a third of P4's. And I played them in order. P3 does have Sun, yes. But a lot of the others are lacking complexity and some are poorly written. P4 has some that are strong and others that are weak - Eri is the worst, but Shu and band club are also pretty terrible (there's a reason I always pick drama). But still... who the fuck puts the Gourmet King in their top 10? Gourmet King is unlikeable in an intentional way, which is better than the majority of P5's, which are basically all operating on the same Mementos-based quest template. The only reason I ranked Iwai so high is because I liked his dialogue choices.
