I told them that after I flipped if me or you had been town and saw that scum flip, we would have both been going hard that MI and Lea were both scum with me trying to hero claim to the win. That it was all theatre piggybacking off of knowing my role and looking good by me sacrificing.

Yes but he telegraphed it. It's why I said he was one use or odd night in scum chat after. He tried to throw town a bone to explain his gambit when they couldn't figure it out themselves

I mostly backed off because I was trying to draw connections to Scare which only happened cause I got shot. You were never really off the radar though. Think plum would have convinced me you were making too much sense to be town lol

I think Plums read was based off reading like 100 posts in the entire game to that point though.

And I only posted in the game because he blocked me and posted that rant - I wanted to clear things up. I wasn't going to do anything other than call him out for that even though I had been informed who the scum team was. I don't do that. Sorry for breaking the no-posting rule even if I had it self-destruct. That was an emotional decision and I admit it.

Again, Mafia isn't healthy for me, so I'm gonna co-host or watch for now and see if things change in my life and mindset in the next six months before I reevaluate whether I'll play a game once in a while, when it feels right (if it ever does). I appreciate you all being understanding even if it means I don't get to play for a while!

But you are good late game. One of the deadliest town players late game. Just never got you to where you ice it. You had to spend the day before defending yourself instead of pegging scum.

The entire day you got lynched was... which role is scum because one can't exist. Instead of interactions. People that were like this doesn't sound like what scum would do with corrik were on the right path but the ROLE META YARRRR guys drowned everyone out. They fell in love with it after I flipped with not nearly enough flips. Someone said... all the unclaimed might be scum and it was literally sbell, death, ctes left. Lol.

Something I would say in general, not just to MZero but like most of the other players, is you need to be able to forgive yourself for being wrong. People here get so down on themselves for being wrong about a lynch. You know who has been wrong on a lynch before? Literally everyone else who has ever played this game. I think Han is probably the consensus best player in this game, and he spent all day 1 being wrong on Scare. Chris has lead wrong lynches before. Each and every person has been wrong, a lot, and what you need to be able to do is to stop yourself from spiraling afterwards where you want to throw your hands up in the air and quit.

Keep your head up. It's just a game. For funsies. Being wrong should ruin your day. Just try to be better next time.

I'd also recommend avoiding the "oh well its their fault they got lynched they deserved it" etc mindset too. It's ok to admit you were wrong and you don't need to drag the dead. That's a worse look than being wrong, imo.

I knew you were town day 1. My ISO from last game taught me that. Part of why you were town MVP was that you confirmed yourself town before anybody else. The other part is that you had the best reads - town would have likely won if people had chosen to listen to you. Which people need to learn to do sometimes. You learned a hell of a lot from last game.

Well, I actually tunneled you because you seemed overly defensive about it, and then you never gave me a reason to think you were town. Leaving your votes splintered on the Scare lynched looked bad. You didn't really explain how your reads evolved so they seemed fake. The whole thing about thinking you were modkilled. You ignored several questions posed to you. I could go on, but the point is I had a lot of reasons for pushing you by the end. I stand by my reasoning for thinking you were scum, but town is scummy sometimes.

BCT, as second to die this game, let me point out that you've also used the "bad headspace" argument before as scum AND WON in the past. If you're genuinely having problems at the time, that's a shame, but you have got to understand from our P.O.V. that we cant dismiss the possibility you're "crying wolf" even if you are having an actual problem.

this is a game of reactions and lies. Don't tell Mzero how to play. Don't tell me how to play. You really need to stop blaming everyone else for your problems. Instead of being angry at other players for playing their game why not learn how to avoid those situations. And if you can't handle the game, just stop playing.

These two facts are related. My splintered votes needed an explanation because they looked bad, ergo I was on defense. I felt like I spent too much of this game being on defense instead of offense. It was hard for me to scum hunt because I was too busy trying to look like town. I don't yet know how to handle both at once. I'm still rough with how I play.

I do appreciate you guys, by the way. You're helping me try to straighten my thinking out. I need to be less hard on myself. I need to be in a more positive headspace. I need to not care so much.

Wish me luck. It'll take at least six months to show progress there... it's something I'm already working on with my therapist.

Everyone takes their lumps in the beginning. I got mislynched all the time when I first started. Trying to look like town will get you in trouble because, well, that's what scum is doing. Once you get more experience and learn to play naturally you probably won't get suspected as much. It's important to remember that it's nothing personal when someone suspects you, it's just that suspecting people is the entire premise of the game. Easier said than done, of course. I'm sorry if you took anything I said in the game personally

I think something to keep in mind, BCT, is that before this topic even purges people will have long moved passed it. The salt flows heavy, but it flows fast after a game wraps up. Emotions will go to bed in the next day or two. However reads, gut reactions, nuggets of play from a game stick with you pretty much forever. There are games from the infancy of Mafia on this board that if brought up will have people mention plays, posts, and throws. You're constantly building and evolving from the first game you play and it stays in your personal database

Critiquing and offering advice to someone is fine. Suggesting people need to stop tunneling you because it's bad play can be helpful. Saying you need to Stop doing this because it is not good for me... probably isn't going to be very fruitful. Pressing and tunneling people is part of the game, it's how you get reactions. As far as I know this is our first game playing together. I read your first game and had you pegged as scum within your first handful of posts. If I were town this game I go at you pretty early on to see how you stack up to my mental image of you by being aggressive, tunneling, and pressing. Blowing up on people likely will make people want to lynch you more often just because you're showing poor sportsmanship and that sometimes comes off as scummy and sometimes comes off as "Man I don't want to play with this for multiple weeks. I'd rather vote him out of the game now." type of mentality.

Again, your mental health should be your top priority and addressed if it's getting too out of hand and you need to step away. But from just a game state perspective think about stepping back and seeing what your perception is from someone else and not just your own viewpoint.

Bct, i think it would help your game substantially if you could evaluate your play and posts as though you didn't have knowledge of your alignment. There have been multiple times lately where you've asserted that you're super obvtown... but made really scummy plays (ex: vote splitting). When it comes to "obvtown" status, I think a general rule should be that at least a few players who you didn't previously think were scum, say that you are obvtown, then you can begin to consider it at that point. But when you call yourself obvtown on day 1 with nothing else to go off of? It reeks of scummy desperation, especially when you've used that excuse to win a game as scum.

Corrik tried to butter you up really hard this game, and it worked. He's good at that.

Others expectations are difficult. this is something I kind of struggle with myself when I think about how I play mafia. Some players get passes for stuff that I wouldnt. Like, it kind of frustrates me that some players can just come in and be like this post is scummy with no explanation and get people joining them on the train, then whenever I suspect anyone I feel like my logic is put under a microscope. I have to justify everything, while many players get away with justifying nothing. It makes a lot of my investigative content feel contrived and content for the sake of content.

Its hard in mafia but we need to give room for players to play a bit differently without it always being a scummy thing.

As late as this game I was saying red was doing little and was told "nah" from a few people and he was literally SK trying to lay low lol.

To be serious for a moment now that I know the situation better, I'd recommend to players like BCT and Lea and etc. To simply.. Try playing somewhere else.

The players won't be as good, but half of this community would be banned from every other community I've been to by the end of day 1.

I still play mafia. B8 is like an abusive ex I still think about sometimes but I know better because I am a worse person when I am here.

My advice is simply to just try other places out and see if you find something you like. No other community commits the abuses that this one does.

MU has some of the best players in the world (that aren't here that is), but on the whole the community is very... safe I guess is the word I'll use. Last I checked they elimitated Lynch from the vocabulary because they felt it was too offensive of a word. The edge is much softer if you want some Mafia lite.
