Pretty sure Dart doesn't move but don't quote me on that. I know for sure that, unlike later games, the enemy range display won't indicate if an enemy moves or not though, so you can't judge it off that.

Yeah as an adult with responsibilities I simply don't have the time to replay long maps due to one mistake. I'm glad this is becoming prevalent in SRPGs.

I thought you just had to attack him. Even if he kills whoever you attacked him with, you still game over.

You do realize you could just not reset and let them die right?

Unless its a lord I guess but at that point you lost the mission and there should be consequences for that.

Playing on Casual Mode is another option. I do not take advantage of the "people don't die if they are killed" mechanic, but it also enables battle saves, which means that you can reset to your last self-made checkpoint.

Letting an important unit die midway through the game isn't really a viable option on Lunatic though. They may as well be a Lord when you consider the future knock-on effect. Besides, you're already resetting plenty of times figuring out the maps anyway.

Side note, but I was really surprised when I looked up character information after playing FE7 and found out that Hector is only 17 years old. Puberty hit him like a truck. Was also kind of surprised to hear that Lyn is supposed to be 15 in the OG Japanese version. It took me a while to realize that age in anime never makes sense!

I just wanted to say that this scene alone really made me like Ursula. She establishes herself as a no nonsense type, plainly stating the facts of what happened and cutting Beyard off and telling him she doesn't care why he failed, just that he did.

And this is where some generic baddie would go "And you have failed me for the last time!" and kill him on the spot, but instead Ursula asks him how he's going to fix his screwup. She isn't going to kill someone still potentially useful to 'prove that she's evil', but at the same time she makes it clear that while she may give second chances, she isn't giving Beyard a third.

While more goofy bad guys have their place (I love Batta the Beast and Glass), Ursula makes for a nice serious character

Generally I'm really enjoying the characters and story in this game! It's certainly head over heals over Binding, which had, like...one cutscene I cared about. The banter between the lords here is always great.

FE7 really knocked it out of the park with its three lords. They remain popular to this day, even Eliwood.

FE has usually done a great job with main characters, actually. Less so with Awakening/Fates, but I consider Lucina a main character and she rules. Byleth doesn't count because the real main characters of Three Houses are the house leaders. Maybe Roy sucks but I didn't play Binding Blade.

Cashing it in for tonight, just need a Knights Crest and a Whip got get Oswin and Florina promoted, and I think that's it for non prepromotes here for me. Still haven't seen Rath, so his level 8 ass ain't gonna get any use. Both him and Wallace are gonna get SPECIAL (read: an hour sitting there chipping) treatment for the next run in Lyn, I can tell you that much. Already reached a cumulative 51 levels between the Lords so Wallace is gonna die in a ditch somewhere this time.

No archers at all, lol. I know there's a cool Sniper girl later in...a desert, I think? Hopefully I get a different Nomad or a Warrior at least.

Just realized Fates didn't have the Warrior class which is super wierd.

Come to think of it, is Micaiah the oldest main character what with the whole being a Heron-branded and was implied to already be fully-grown when Sothe was a little boy?

I actually really dislike the way they're going with Byleth and Alear as far as 'avatar characters' go because its kind of the worst possible option IMO. Literal nothing personality silent blank slate with fake choices AND you don't actually get to customize them in a meaningful way.

I'd rather they do either of the previous options (no avatar, designed Lords with interesting personalities and story OR completely customizable Avatar that's either silent or has a generic personality that says as close to neutral answers as is possible).

Oh it totally makes 'sense' by anime age standards, and I doubt they'll change it, it's just throwing me for a loop.

Wait, Alear doesn't have voice lines? I thought they weren't a silent protagonist.

Byleth is definitely a misstep, especially in a story-heavy game like Three Houses. Three Hopes having a speaking protagonist and having Byleth speak as well really highlighted the missed potential there.

Alear is a fully voiced main character, I don't even think you can customize their appearance unless they're hiding that (I mean their clothes obviously you can, but as far as face and such goes)

Only Avatar thing about them is picking gender.

They've talked in trailers but the trailers aren't really cut in a way where you ever really just see characters talking on screen, it's always background dialogue, so some folks likely just didn't realize.
