Board 8 > Good mindless games to play while watching something else?

@masterplum had a topic about this a few months ago, and I'm looking for some more suggestions. To clarify, I'm looking for something that requires little attention but is fun to play while kind of distracted.

Stuff like Rogue Legacy 2 has been the best. Rooms that you get through in 30 seconds but if I need to stop and focus on the show I'm watching there's not really anything I'm missing. Metroidvanias are good for this but I feel like I've hit most of the top ones at this point.

FFXIV (fishing), roguelike games with no time limit on movement (Darkest Dungeon, for instance,) Animal Crossing/Stardew Valley/Harvest Moon and the like.

I've tried Darkest Dungeon since it came out and it still kicks my ass to the point where I feel like I need to start over every few hours =(.

Also put a few hundred hours into Stardew and I've found no other farming game compares enough to keep my interest. Haunted Chocolatier will be my go to but who knows if that will ever come out

I have been greatly enjoying Peglin for this recently.

Funny thing is, I never actually found something after rogue survivor 2 that worked nearly as well.

Civ games often let you skip multiple turns in a row if everything you're doing is queued

Divinity: Original Sin 2 will flash on the taskbar when your turn is up, and there's also mods to make party members AI controlled (and they're moderately intelligent... usually), so you can play it pretty hands off. it'd be better if you already know the nuances of the game ahead of time though, because it's not really a simple game

Forager maybe? the way the game works seems to work with an inattentive playstyle. resources grow back over time, but stamina is only consumed when you do things. the home tile will probably mostly be safe

A 4X game

Autobattlers like Hearthstone Battlegrounds or Teamfight Tactics

Tower defense games

maybe a culdcept game? You could probably tune out somewhat during opponent turns as long as you still keep an eye out on what cards they play and where.

Super Robot Wars 30 has auto play that you can toggle on and off.

Slice & Dice

Dicey Dungeons is nice, mindless, and pretty simple as well

Yeah I often grind/hunt in Pokemon doing this.

Look at clouds and pretend they are animal shapes

Sunless Seas / Skies is my go-to. You sometimes have to pay attention for a few moments at a time, but depending on what you're watching you should be able to look away every few seconds.

I've done this for hundreds of hours so I'll just give my list over the past 7 years...

World of Warcraft
Hyrule Warriors (or other Warriors games)
Satisfactory (similar games like Valheim and Terraria and such)
Slay the Spire (and Monster Train and Rogue Legacy, FTL, that vein of roguelike)
Recently been doing Gloomhaven

The secret to this type of game I've found is just to find a game that doesn't use the language center of the brain. People may be able to multi-task, but you can't really listen to more than one thing at a time and understand it. So as long as you play something that you don't need to listen/read with, you can devote that part of your brain to watching.
