yeah we've been friends but she moved back to the states in the spring

the newspaper thing was pretty universal as recently as 2018 or so as far as I know. Finally some states are making exceptions when publishing the name change is really embarrassing (or can endanger people).

And it was nearly impossible to get my name changed in Japan. I tried. Many times. I got the next best thing, but I'm not sure how much my ID with is gonna help in america lol

All in all, how do you like your experience there? A friend of mine also moved to Japan like 3 months ago for a teaching job.

Do you work ridiculously long hours too? I hear a lot of teachers do. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a very viable long-term career option

Seven years is a long time. I think most people leave within 3-5 years or end up staying forever. It'll probably be hard to adjust to life in the US again, not to mention moving to the opposite coast (I'm assuming you're from California). I hope it all works out for you though!

I thought about moving to Japan or Korea since I used to have an IT job where my coworkers lived in Korea/China (and there was a Japanese department that needed to hire someone), but being a trans foreigner who is pre-everything sounds not fun especially compared to California so I don't envy you. Good luck on your move and moving in with your partner.

Dying? Daily active users are flying up past 250 million, which is a massive upward trend from where it was, and all the lazy weirdos with bloated salaries are being fired so those who do actual work can get promoted.

If a company is losing 4 million dollars per day or whatever it was, people not doing anything (or better yet, people dumb enough to go online and BRAG about not doing anything) get laid off.

My best guess is Twitter will eventually get smaller, but way more exclusive. Wont happen any time soon though because the site is quite literally being flooded with new users.

i left off sending boxes home until the day before my flight

and then on that day it started raining hard while I was walking to the post office and they got too soaked to send

so the next day i had to leave my dorm with all my stuff plus my boxes for shipping, wait at the post office until it's opening time, then quickly rush to my flight which I almost missed

I looked this up, and Twitter was reportedly losing 4 million dollars per DAY. Where was all this money even going? You can't blame a new owner for cutting staff and getting rid of openly toxic malcontents. We've all worked with those types and you need to get them out of the building.
