I have been using Google Lens for this for a while and it's a bit hit or miss. ChatGPT does some basic translation that's not terrible (about as good as deepl). Google Lens is a bit more advanced because of the image recognition and using google translate.

The technology has already come a long way, it'll be nice to see it further evolve and no longer have to be put off when I see that something has been machine translated.

There's pretty good AI translation tools already available, check out sugoi translator. It's got a bunch of presets for text hooking, OCR for visual novels, and manga

Man, I don't want to drop the only yuri show this season but "yuri is my job" is just so freakin bad. It's almost impressive how aggravating they've made the show in just two episodes. All the characters are so stupid and also mean, a terrible combination. Like an entire cast full of aho girl, except without the comedy. The situation is beyond contrived as well and a setting more cringy than a maid cafe is making this very hard to watch.

I feel like most of the new shows I'm watching have turned out to be mediocre. Actually, my home hero's second episode was a lot better than the first. In that way it sort of reminds me of ningen fushin from last season where it's first episode was poorly directed with weird cuts that made it flow terribly but the rest of the season was fine.

Vinland saga had a really good episode this week, and without much violence at that. I really appreciate the message that sometimes you get fucked over whether you act or not and there just was no right answer. Sometimes things are just out of our control and using a storm as a metaphor is perfect since it's a force of nature you literally can't stop. The show continues to be really good at fairly quickly developing characters into interesting people with depth.

The only thing I've watched so far that's been really good was Oshi no Ko tbh. Dr Stone is still more of the same, which is all I really expected, and Skip to Loafer has been surprisingly good but not really good. Rokudo is a good adaptation so far but it'll probably take a few episodes to fall into stride.

On a related note, has anyone tried "JK kara Yarinaosu Silver Plan?" Sort of similar to Remake; the MC was born into wealth and lives a self-centered, careless youth; eventually her family loses the money and all allies as a side effect, and with no skills she lives middle and old age in part time work and eventually squalor. As she's attacked by Truck-kun in the form of random douchebags attacking homeless, she wakes up in her old bed as a high schooler in the past. Having had plenty of time to reflect on her mistakes, she's genuinely determined to be a better, nicer and wiser person, but it's not so easy since even in the past her reputation has already been set in stone.

It's an alright manga but I wouldn't get too attached since it's being done by Im Dal-Young.

The guy notorious for dropping manga and never finishing them. (And on the rare occasions he does finish writing one it ends up being rushed and half-assed)

I have too many prior titles to catch up, and the only thing from this season that is catching my current interest is the second cour of Witch From Mercury.

to be honest, you can consider the first episode of oshi no ko to be an entire cour (it's dense), and then just leave it alone for another few months if you want a second cour. that's what i'm gonna do, and I was probably the most hyped person in this topic for episode 1. that also means you don't have to rush to watch it

Ironically I just finished watching it. I predicted what would happen pretty early. The pacing and focus on getting the kids into acting and dancing respectively paint a pretty clear picture the story isn't going to be about the mom's idol career. Still, despite seeing everything coming, it was still quite good. I'm not sure if it quite deserves the ratings and hype the first episode is getting (probably a bit of author boost coming off of love is war), but I'm not too bothered since it is quite good. It's pretty absurd they never bothered to figure out who the other one was during the first life, but oh well, I'm sure it'll make the quite the dramatic twist down the line.

iirc within the episode, ruby was actively trying to avoid discussion about it (out of shame of being disabled), and aqua just didn't really care to push it much. discussion of it did come up, it just left the vibe of "don't discuss this further"

the first arc is definitely a lot of stretches. i loved it but it was still convoluted and situational. but it was gr8 in the end imo

Given that Ai's stalker killed aqua and was still at large, you'd think they'd be worried about that guy and try to come up with some way to catch the guy so that Ai doesn't end up stabbed by a crazy fan, and yet, they didn't, and thats exactly what happened. Also somewhat surprising they didn't want to contact anyone from their first life. If I died suddenly tomorrow and was reborn, I'd have to tell my family that I came back and I'm doing ok. I guess neither had anyone.

I agree it was a good watch though and I'm excited to watch the rest of the season.

Caught up with gundam witch and my man shaddiq being the MVP again. Making sure the story doesn't stay at boring school life and duels. Was a great episode. I will say one thing though, in their pilot suits there are way too many similar looking girls. The hair colors and eye colors become hard to see in the suit so they keep showing girls faces talking and I have no idea which one it is half the time. Fortunately sulletta is easy enough to tell apart.

Also interesting how many different mecha shows have some version of the instrumentality project from eva. Something to eliminate the barrier between all individuals. Eva has it of course, code geass has it, and this seems to be headed in a similar direction. I don't think this show has anything nearly as profound to say as eva but time will tell. Still kinda bummed they are going this way instead of into open war. Getting war cucked two gundam series in a row that both had fantastic build ups to one and then just fizzled out into something more minor.

I could believe this seeing as Prospera and Elnora look nothing alike (both Eri / Suletta and Elnora / Propsoera share VAs).

Something I have been thinking of that's unrelated, but I don't think that Delling was actually working with Prospera on Quiet Zero. It sounds like Prospera is just trying to manipulate Miorine into working with her, much like how she constantly manipulates Suletta.

Man, and I'm right in the middle of a Dragon Quest XI playthrough too. I calculated it so that I'll be done with it right before Tears of the Kingdom comes out as well, so I don't think it'll be easy to juggle both games.

Honestly shocked that they pushed up the release so quickly. Makes me wonder if they just cut a large part of the game out in order to do that.

i don't really see this as ambiguous, considering he knew about it and iirc she straight up said it was his project to his face

she is for sure working an angle to her extreme benefit, just now i think it's been accelerated with what happened, which she may have been the cause of ultimately

also it would explain why he was so weird about his wifes death, because she technically is not dead and he's attempting to use this as a way for it to never happen again/ get her back somehow. he very much seems to just be the generic straight shooter old stoic guy who doesn't really have any ulterior motives

although this also begs the question of who sulettas father is, too. we know it's not the same as eri, since he died. and we know that suletta isn't eri, because eri is aerial

I kind of doubt it. This has presumably been in development since before the main game launched, so there's been plenty of time, and wave 3 included some files for it already that dataminers found. I'm guessing they're just trying to clear the holiday release window for some bigger stuff that we'll hear about at E3, while also trying to avoid interfering with TotK.

Watched the new pokemon anime since I was curious how it'd go and it was actually way better than I expected. The only thing that mildly infuriates me about it is that the subs don't use the english names for the pokemon, so we have them calling charizard "lizardon" and other stuff like that. Kind of a shame because I think the VAs actually do a really good job. Will probably just watch it anyway.

Although this annoyed me about the original series too. The damn trainers just randomly forget to recall pokemon with their pokeball when they are getting stolen. If you can see it, you can recall it to the pokeball.

Let's see though, I just caught up on too cute crisis which is still fun and stupid. Watched the latest birdie wing which continues to be the most anime sports show of all time. Think I'm dropping the hero is dead. In the middle of the third episode I just couldn't go on and stopped. I pretty much never do that mid episode. KamiKatsu is definitely the better of the two and it's getting fairly funny to me. Bertrand's poor fate just gets more pathetic and attractive. Think I'm dropping yuri is my job. I didn't even watch the latest episode but it's just too melodramatic and annoying. Oshi no Ko is still solid but the next episode it should really begin the main arc.

Oh yeah, bofuri finally ended. It had gotten delayed a bit. I love that show. It's hard to call it that good, but it's so pleasant and watchable. I feel like I could just actually watch infinite episodes of it. The actual lowest stakes adventure series possible with the vaguest hint of yuri undertones.

This season is very uneven with a ton to watch on weekends and almost nothing through the week. A lot of the shows I expected to be just ok are turning out to be barely watchable (or straight up not watchable). The top end of this season is fine, it's just the middle level shows that are disappointing.

Watching "Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement" and I was hopeful at the start, but it feels like the writer's lack of intelligence/imagination is severely holding it back. I'm ok with an imperfect mc and one that makes mistakes, but a lot of the choices made are baffling.

Been playing a lot of monster hunter sunbreak lately. This latest update has been fantastic for my main weapon although I'm certainly disappointed amatsu wasn't as hard as iceborne's fatalis. All sunbreak really lacks is some crazy difficult fight to use all these ridiculous sets we have now. I remember back in monster hunter freedom like 20 years ago being super stoked to put together my endgame set which had autotracker and sharpness+1. That's it. Now I have like 20 fully maxed out skills all of which are better than either of those. Also a nuisance that there is so much pointless grind in the anomaly hunts. I don't mind grinding in a lot of cases, but this grind is gating me from fighting the toughest fights. That's the kind I do mind. It's also very easy and repetitive but at least the new charms means constant minor upgrades and tweaks to my sets.

Vinland saga was good today, although next week is gonna be the real good one. Amazing that thorfinn's pacifism lasted until literally the first encounter since he decided to be pacifist. Still, him trying to be nonlethal here at least makes plenty of sense and is the best move even disregarding morality. All I need is for thorfinn to take a more realistic approach to pacifism that doesn't stop him from lethally defending people when necessary. However, I suspect the show will never force him to make that choice or live with the consequences.

Yeah the first episode it bothered me but since then it's been fine and the story and characters are pretty great. Probably the smartest realistic style yakuza I've in anime too. That damn cliff hanger in the latest episode though. I mean, obviously main guy didn't get killed, but what happened to the other guy that's already been shot?

Just watched the latest episode. One of the best yet. Everything in gundam witch that takes place outside the school is a masterpiece. Guel has definitely been through some shit. It'll be very interesting to see what kind of person he ends up as and what role he will play in the story.

I'm a little unsure of how I feel about dead mount death play. If I watched it totally blind I'd think it was a pretty solid reverse isekai but knowing it's from the author of durarara and baccano it's hard not to draw comparisons and it certainly doesn't capture my interest the way those did at first.

Thinking about it though, it might honestly be the production that is the difference. The music and presentation of durarara made a huge difference early on, before we were invested in all the characters and this show has nothing like that. The production here is just average. I'm definitely still gonna watch it, but I hope it improves soon and I think it might given how the last episode set things up.

I feel like I could watch 500 episodes of that show. It's chill without being boring and has such a positive fun vibe.

Watched a lot of anime today (too sick for games). Watched all 4 eps of skip to loafer and it was quite nice. Somewhat horimiya vibes. Guess I have something to watch on tuesdays now.

Also watched eps 2 and 3 of heavenly delusion. I have some predictions. I bet that the doc is a good guy and the sister came to him specifically and asked to save her brother, giving up her own life to do it. I bet the people in the facility are some sort of dopplegangers made with DNA collected from man-eaters (they probably even made them). I expect the guy that lead the orphanage is actually the bad guy and was responsible for the disappearances instead of the doc. I wouldn't be especially surprised if it turns out the AI from "heaven" eradicated human society and built heaven as a way to fix humanity or something like that. Still, it's quite early on and I definitely didn't see main girl actually being a guy so I hope theres plenty more twists I won't see coming. Oh, I could also see heaven and the maneaters being a tool for curing that disease that might have been the real cause of the calamity.

The show is really good, although being a lot more serious, I feel like I'm often not in the mood for it.

I am enjoying heavenly delusion. This season has actually gotten me to watch seasonals.

Man, gundam witch is so good whenever school is not in session. If things progress well, this will easily be the best gundam of all time IMO. It's gonna be hard to choose a best anime of the season between vinland saga and gundam witch.

Season 1 was very eh.
Season 2 has been consistently solid.
Hopefully they just used the school for developing the characters.

My thoughts almost exactly. Episode 0 and episode 12 were really great, but the rest of season 1 was fairly disappointing. However, that just being used as the contrast and character building segment and then spiraling into a very bloody serious conflict with multiple somewhat fleshed out sides and motivations redeems the boring parts of the first season for me.

They ended up doing the 3 kingdoms start as I think of it, where they have what will eventually be the main competing factions all on the same side at the start of the story, so we can see a friendly cooperative side of them (in this case relatively friendly rivalry) and increase the emotional weight when they eventually have to betray and kill each other. Recently fire emblem 3 houses did the same thing as well and it's a story telling technique I quite like, it just requires the 2nd act to actually go hard and be good, something I felt 3 houses failed at, but am hoping gundam witch succeeds with.

Been watching Hyouken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu. I gotta take a break after each ep. Everything feels hollow. Have like 3 eps left, definitely a miss for me.

Also, I watched the ecchi show where the dude gets turned into a dog, since I figured it could be funny/amusing, but it ended up deserving its poor mal rating. A lot of the time I feel like mal is a bit harsh on ecchi stuff, but this one was a wasted concept. Could've been fun, but instead it was really dumb. Glad they were only 12 min eps.

Watched like 2(?) episodes of this and knew it was going to be a flop. What a really weird premise. Also the censorship was really bad.

I at least made sure to watch it uncensored.

Latest episode of My Home Hero was fantastic. This is the jewel in the rough for this season. I will definitely read the manga when I get a chance.

I managed to finish that one. It wasn't great, but it had some amateur charm in parts of it for me. The ending isn't any better than the rest of it.

Yeah, I feel like I'm pretty degen but this show was a lot more uncomfortable than it was sexy. Worth watching the first short episode just for the shock value maybe, but theres no point after that. Kind of amazed they found enough people willing to animate this.

It is pretty good. I feel like the main guy is getting a bit lucky. With how much surveillance they run on him, I'm amazed they don't have all the girls phones monitored. Then going to a bar and asking around about a regular seems awfully risky for someone in his position, but I guess he just doesn't have better options.

Aside from that, it's all pretty great. Wife is best girl, daughter is barely worth protecting. Hard as it would be. killing the orginization's boss guy is probably the best way out of this. Now he knows what the guy looks like and nobodies gonna be looking for his son after that. Granted, killing him is probably easier said than done, but so is everything else they are doing.
