There is, the problem is that most of us just aren't that good at it. You can totally count me in that bunch too, but I prefer to give it a try before going to no lynch because day 1s can be quite useful to go back to when we've seen flips.

This comment does not consider that isquen and Kirby can both be scum. Reading kirby's post in this light, if kirby and isquen are both scum, then kirby was able to do a nice little distance away from him, and isquen from him. They both basically avoided saying anything about the other.

Both isquen and kirby's posts make a lot more sense with the reading that they are both scum together.

Focusing on my Kirby quote in that post once more, I don't agree that that logic holds any water. If there were multiple other trains being pursued then it would be relevant. But other than Kirby there was nothing else going on. So rather than have 2 (of 2, or 3) scum at the start of one lynch, it's a totally reasonable strategy to just throw darts at the board and see where they land. In fact, I'd argue that it's the better strategy! If Ben doesn't catch on, then maybe igcd would. Or vice versa. That point in the game was so, so early, that scum not being concentrated would be ideal for them.

My point was that the train happened so early into the day that scum might not have wanted to hop on the train for fear of looking bad if the train didn't go through. Heck, I think Isquen used this exact logic in one of his posts defending his vote of IGCD. He clearly said it would have looked bad if he voted for me and brought it to -1.

Not that it really matter since Ctes seems to have convinced you about Isquen. I just want to make sure I'm not being misunderstood.

Speaking of Ctes, I think his point on me and Ben was the only original content in his post. Everything else is nothing new, I feel. But I'll admit that I'm naturally town biased toward Ctes, so I'm not bothered by him yet. The point he made was a solid one anyway.

Dude, that was post #18 of the topic. Perhaps my sarcasm is extremely dry, but you know I'm never one to give up easily, especially not that early. I'd go back and forth with Sparx about a completely off-topic debate and calling him a falafel before ever admitting defeat.

... But I can't exactly say your logic is completely BS'd, though, since it tracks with your immediate reaction to my post. Ugh. I'm still keeping my eye on you...

My read on ulti is that, similar to ctes, I really dislike the attempt to early poe. It feels scummy to try to make a falsely limited choice this early. On day 2 or 3 after we all have some confirmed information, then sure. Good strategy. Day 1? No. As scum, it's so easy to make a list like that without your team on there.
The bravado with which he exclaimed certain people to be town or scum, along with his general posting attitude, irritate me. In general, any time one of our vets post about how great they are, it makes me more likely to think they're compensating town points as scum.

But I also know I can't read the guy for shit, and he's been legitimately inquisitive this game in a way where it feels like he's at least doing a good job of showing others that he's looking for scum. And that feels far more townie to me than fretting over his vote, or riding on corrik's coattails. So it's net null and I could go either way.

Ben, my other neutral, is because nothing he's said this game has made me feel... anything, really. He's just there.

You said you actually thought Lea was in the game though. I just made a cheeky reference to Red and how he decided Isquen was town for out of game reasons. I never thought Red was in the game. Entirely different things

How do you confirm Kirby? From my pov, he hopped into a very noncommital course of action, where corrik did all the "work". It's impossible for Kirby to look bad from any town flips, and he won't contribute to any potential scum lynches, and gives town very little contextual information going into day 2. It honestly just feels like he's trying to cover his ass after getting what he thinks is unwarranted attention very early on.

The issue is not thinking people are town regardless of certainty. The issue is things like stating "I will not allow this" when someone makes a point about someone you think is town because it might prevent other people from discovering something you were unable too. That's the concern, not you being wrong in itself

But sure, my concern on the point doesn't feel genuine despite bringing it up first and trying to make the same point last game.

No one has to believe it no, but it shifts focus and might prevent discussion, especially by less confident players. For yourself too. Last time Hb I think tried to talk about Death and you straight up didn't listen to his points because you had made the decision at that point removing mafia from possible focus. I am not saying it loses the game, just that I don't like it.

I'm not gonna be around much for today, either, as a heads up, but providing I survive, I should be a bit more around day 2. Work crunch before move-in weekend.

I'm just confused, I guess. People claiming host confirmed, where I get the logic, but I don't see it 100%. Likewise for the no lynch, where all my prior experience had everyone (but Corrik, as that's just what Corrik *does*) go "wait no lynches are dumb" and go out for blood. And the person I agree with on that front is the one I suspect the most.

Hey Peaf, did I really convince you there was no argument in those Isquen points that easily? I mean, I stand by what I said, but it's coming on top of a game where I was very wrong about him despite thinking he played similar to SW&P.
