Vegapunk's Island, Egghead!

Ever since 1059 I think I've been prepared for a Vegapunk to be a young girl although she probably got her she changed by Bonney

Bastard!! complete. Good show! I think the first half was probably a bit better than the second half, since it was generally sillier, but the second half had some great silly moments too. The cast is pretty entertaining, and Dark Schneider constantly charming women never gets old. He's definitely a relatively high tier shounen protagonist, being both totally badass and hilariously silly, plus he's got his fare share of weaknesses. Moments with him never failed to shine. The villains were a good mix of redeemable and ultra evil, and the evil ones had a fine mix of being serious and silly too. The vampire in the first half was especially entertaining. Just a whole lot of fun all around. Nice animation too.

The show ends with a To Be Continued, so hopefully that's actually true! Would love to get more.

Up to about the halfway mark on Fairy Tail now (30-40 chapters before I stopped reading it when it was current) and Im still enjoying it. Being able to binge really helped with the arcs that I remember being kind of a slog to read through on a weekly release (like Oracion Seis). Apparently the anime filler arc from 126-150 is considered semi-canon to the manga though, so Im watching that and man, the first seven or so episodes of that were not great.

So while we still don't have confirmation that Bleach is going to be on Disney+, Crunchyroll did release their fall schedule and Bleach wasn't on there.

However they did pick up Berserk The Golden Age Arc - Memorial Edition. Sure I'll watch an enhanced edition of those movies

watched the JJK movie last night, pretty good! fantastic animation as always.

i totally forgot that Yuta Okkotsu was even mentioned in the first season at all.

Boy is it gonna be funny if that Bleach simulcast announcement was just a marketing error/misunderstanding.

I don't think that's the case, hopefully, but we'll see.

I was disappointed when I came back to anime at the start of the year and saw that there was no news of Bunny Girl continuing. Glad they finally announced something (though I guess it isn't clear yet if it's a new season or a movie. The Bunny Girl movie was the last time I was in a movie theater lol)

It says it'll cover two books, so I'd assume it's a season.

Yeah ideally Brotherhood style vs 2003 FMA, when I think back on Kenshin it's all about the Shishio arc for me. Sooner the remake gets there the better! And then interested in finally seeing that Enishi arc onscreen, for sure.

Also, everytime I hear an announcement about a new series or show returning with a 2023 date I think about Goblin Slayer season 2 announced January 2021 and no news since, come on...

Maybe I'll get over my revulsion to the idea of going back to RK by the time this airs.

Or maybe Watsuki will be back in jail!

I don't really like how they did brotherhood like this, it made it a worse standalone product if it's your first viewing.

But for kenshin I agree because the beginning just isn't as substantial.

The last episode of Lycoris was great! Really didn't expect them to stick the landing.

Overall the series still has a slight air of wasted potential because the world is too big for it's runtime and the characters needed more time to breath, but what was here was all really good. There are hooks for a season 2 as well with some hanging threads.

Either way this series is definitely going to get some type of supplementary material.

Oh man I missed the after credits scene.

So good.

Because he's popular and is good friends with Oda. He paid a little under a $2k fine and walked, and Oda has directly promoted Watsuki and talked him up since then.

Lycoris Recoil complete. Pretty disappointed in this one. I liked the first few episodes a good amount, but it got much worse over time. None of the villains were particularly interesting, particularly Majima. He felt like a crappy Joker ripoff and sucked the life out of every scene he was present in due to being so dreadfully dull. Chisato and Takina hanging out could generally be counted on to be fun, and Kurumi was great too, but I wasn't as into Chisato herself as a lot of people seem to be - the whole no killing thing was pretty meh, and her obsession with finding her savior wasn't interesting either. The animation and action scenes were generally quite nice at least.

When Will Ayumu Make His Move - Man, why did I watch this to the end? Was hoping it would get good like the author's other series, but it never did. The pace was painfully slow, it wasn't funny, and the characters weren't good. They try to make the MC cute, but they're mostly pretty bad about it (the VA is terrible at making moe noises). They introduce a new girl later who's more entertaining at least, but eh. The shogi they play sucks, and the romance is blah too. Overall though, the slow pacing is probably the biggest negative. Could've stood to be 1.5-2x as fast.

Isekai Uncle didn't finish, obviously, but it's on hiatus so I might as well throw it on the list. Bastard and Edgrunners could be swapped.

Lycoris Recoil is pretty good as an action series in the vein of the movies it references. Majima was an okay, over-the-top villain, but his final plan was pretty dumb. I also didn't love Chisato, but I just found her kind of annoying sometimes. I liked the beginning more, when they set up the plot surrounding her, but wasn't a fan of the resolution. Takina was my favorite character, and it's a shame they had to nerf her for plot reasons in episode 12. I will say, of the 4 shows I've finished this season (5 tomorrow), it's easily the most recommendable.

I agree about When Will Ayumu Make His Move. I think Takeru and Rin are great when they're being bros, but everyone is worse when they're flustered over their crushes. I guess that's not good for a romcom...

Yurei Deco I thought was fine as a weekly detective show, but it tried to "say something" at the end and it just didn't work.

Extreme Hearts is my second favorite show of the season, but it's a sports/idol show. I can't imagine there are many people at that cross-section

Most disappointing show is easily RWBY: Ice Queendom. Wasn't a fan of the aesthetic decision to have a bunch of cuts and close-ups - that doesn't make your dialogue any more interesting. It also looked pretty bad in the middle, during the actual Ice Queendom parts. It seems like they put most of the budget into recreating action scenes from the original.

The best parts of Lycoris were the humorous and casual stuff. The actual action, other than some pretty good animation at the end and that baller Mika scene, were solid but not the where the series shined. I definitely agree about not caring for Majima and the stuff with Shinji was kind of frustrating. Forget Robato, lol.

When I say the series should have been two cour, basically the entire extra 12ish episodes I would want to be episodic stuff in the city or hanging out with the other girls and various characters. They gave personality and even scenes to so many members of the cast, like the cops, but like...they're straight up non entities. It makes me want a theoretical second season to be almost entirely SoL with maybe some action stuff thrown in purely for comedic effect. They already announced an SoL Chisato and Takina working LycoReco post series manga today, and I'll def be checking that out.

Watching the nonstop devolution of Seven Deadly Sins, originally one of the better looking shounen anime at the time, with every release has been so depressing. Somehow this terrible looking CG movie still looks better than the last couple seasons of the show.

So my partner was watching demon slayer with me and was commenting on the fact that there was not enough bathroom scenes in this anime and it vexes her when shows aren't realistic about bathroom habits and for some reason she didn't think I would commit to the bit where I ask board 8 for suggestions off of this but clearly she does not know my lack of shame.

So need suggestions for anime where there is some sort of bathroom scene in episode 1 to finalize this joke between us. Thank you.

I forget if it was episode one or two but Gabriel Dropout shows Satania on the toilet very early on.

There's a bathroom scene in ep 1 of Made in Abyss S2. Can't remember if there's one in ep 1 of S1, but I think they talk about peeing at least...?
