I think there will likely be no noteable difference for the consumer in any way from the buyout and people are getting a bit too doom and gloom about it.

I'm assuming someone here must read Solo Leveling. Is that series still worth reading now that it's not going to be finished?

The books finished five years ago and the manhwa finished last year.

Oh, huh, I was told it was still putting out content. Nevermind!

from what I see the webcomic is still putting out content as of a few weeks ago, possibly just collecting already existing material though

Oh good, I intend to finish it and have no issue switching to the manwha if there is a translation for it.

I'm so used to stuff being translated immediately nowadays that it didn't even occur to me there could just be a big translation backlog.

So dreams of haikyuu anime are finally dead. Can't believe they didn't want to adapt Nekoma or decided a movie was the way to do it I guess, but then fuck everything else.

No Guns Life finished. Kind of a limp ending considering the few episodes scattered around that didn't mean a lot to the main plot. I get the feeling they completed the arc they wanted, but left stuff open if a sequel happens...but there's only so much they left on the table really. Kind wish they'd used 2-3 episodes for a better finale. Kinda preachy and dialogue heavy for the film noir shooty shooty "people with guns for heads" premise. Still decent enough.

Time for the "look for a new show phase" Hoo boy.

finished A Place Further Than The Universe. Really loved it so much, so much feeling and good humor, trying to not binge these short series so only did 1 or 2 eps a day, but I 100% could've set 4.5 hours aside and crushed it all at once (will do whenever I rewatch it some day!)

Great characters, great story that moves along briskly, I always want more but this really does feel like the show where no 2nd season/sequel is necessary.... it told its story and that's that. Also appreciate how they probably could've stretched this concept out to multiple seasons, so to tell it all and wrap it in 13 episodes is a relief.

Glad to see it win the latest SMFAS too, worthy of the title for sure!

Anyways, highly recommend as a great show that's way outside the genres that are more my thing. Though I'm always late to the series whose time have come and gone but ideally there's others like me out there. Case in point: while I'm going to do a show or two from my non-anime backlog next, next anime series for me will be Ergo Proxy - been sitting on that one since April 2007, don't remember why I got it, somebody on B8 recommended it way back when I guess? - and after Ergo Proxy, the one I've got really high hopes for: Steins;Gate

A few shows didn't grab me, but "The World's Finest Assassin: Insert Isekai Bullshit Title Here" started off decent. I'm not sure if I like the old assassin dude turning into typical teenage dude is a good trade, but I guess that's the tradeoff for the premise.

I liked what little of Taken: Anime Version I got.

World's Finest Assassin is fun imo. Also he's definitely younger than a teenager haha

A Place Further is an all time classic. I said that in the last topic and I'm saying it again.

I love Ergo Proxy. I get why some people don't, but it hit pretty hard for me.

Steins;Gate is of course better, but Steins;Gate is better than everything except maybe Baccano. Probably better than that on most days, too.

The story Id seen was that Sony didnt have the money left in the time period to spend on Bleach or something. Nothing has said its completely exclusive. Just that so far its Disney+ I think

If CR had to choose between Chainsaw Man and Bleach they made the right choice

The point I'm trying to make is Disney+ having it on there at all in Japan doesn't mean it won't appear on other streaming services in the west.

Oh, I get what you mean now. Disney+ streams anime completely normally in Japan weekly without a delay, so being on Disney+ in Japan wouldn't even be a news story. The Japanese license and distribution method is completely different from the US one.

That's a possibility, we'll see how it goes. If it does indeed end up being a western license then the show is dead on arrival regardless of quality, just like Summertime Rendering.

You just mean because they would release it non-weekly right? I don't see why that has to be the case when actual disney shows are dropped weekly right?

Summertime Rendering started airing 16 weeks ago and not a single episode has released. Unless it was an outlier there's no reason to believe Disney isn't doing delaycast for all their licensed anime.

Bleach might be like 50 episodes and it's also CHAD SHONEN anime I'm gonna hold out hope.

Netflix basically killed the entire western JoJo fandom in one swoop and that was a bigger service with a series that is much more popular than Bleach nowadays.

oh so with catching up on MHA I decided to start reading Chainsaw Man, got up to chapter 21.

Why did they have to make him 16, and it's making this developing scene pretty awkward. And fuck that throwing up into mouth part, good lord that's traumatizing for him. Outside of that, uh generally it's been decent so far. Denji as a character I can't say I like but he is becoming endearing at the very least. Power is kinda sick, I dig her. I want a Pochita plush.
