ya I have no issues raising entrants. This is the first gen that most people here probably REALLY started to play in, at least that true of me, so it isn't surprising that way more activity is happening.

PS2's library is ridiculously loaded and GCN has 20-25 games that should easily make it in. Then you have GBA, PC/Arcade from 2001-2006, Xbox, and Dreamcast. Might have to raise the cap to 128.

tbh this one was also just stupidly packed, i didn't come close to checking all the game lists per console valid here. there were about 2500 games eligible here on VNDB alone... (mostly on windows 95/98 but there were still a few hundred on other pcs and near 500 on consoles...)

Not at all. GameCube should easily hit 20+ even if you don't count Resident Evil 4, Viewtiful Joe, Soul Calibur II, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and Skies of Arcadia: Legends.

oh I agree, 128 from that era alone is a huge undertaking for the TC but also nto unreasonable given all the amazing games.

but it's fair that noms closed right before I went to bed, were reopened while I was asleep, and then closed again right as I was waking up?

It doesn't actually affect me personally because I nommed everything I really care about but the point is its never going to be completely fair for everyone. There are definitely people who missed out because the nomination windows were so small. imo it's more unfair to close nominations so early when the previous contests had much longer nomination periods, so no one expected them to close so fast. Besides, I don't think anyone would mind if you bumped up the cut-off anyway (and as far as I can tell, they could change their noms anyway if they wanted to)

of course, it's your contest and you should do whatever you think is right, but that's my two cents

I think we've learned that next gen's noms should have higher caps to get in, this was an absurdly high bump in participation compared to gen 4. I think this managed to be a good field though, a few very notable omissions but that was always gonna happen.

Thrilled to see Koudelka, Pokemon Puzzle League, Mario Golf, and Cruis'n USA made it in. This list rocks.

Hoo boy FF7 and OoT in the same quarter.
I was about to declare DK64 v Digimon World 3 the R1 matchup with the lowest average metascore, but apparently DK64 scored 90! I thought people hated that game (never played it myself).
Crash 3 v Pokemon Puzzle League is a brutal first round match.

Really good bracket! Although I'm not looking forward to voting against my Tomba in R1

RE1, 2, & 3, Silent Hill, Parasite Eve, Twisted Metal 2, MGS, Spyro, Crash, Grim Fandango, this bracket is fantastic.

This generation is just fantastic, imo. I don't think there are any games I'd kick out of the bracket other than Parappa and I at least understand why it is there. And there are still like 10 more where I go "damn I can't believe this didn't make it".

I think the biggest snubs for me are Dino Crisis 1 and 2, Gran Turismo 2 and Crash Bandicoot

Fallout 2 and System Shock 2 are probably the most glaring snubs to to my mind, which isn't too surprising since GameFAQs has always been pretty console oriented. They both have their game styles represented by Planescape and Deus Ex though at least. I was very happy to see that Rayman and Parappa made it.
