World's End is a pretty great piece, but whoever had the idea of adding the jump-scarey noises...
What a jerk!!!
They continued to scare me while listening. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the game, but I bet it didn't had to carry over. Oh well, still voting it because I really liked it better.
Also, Ohtani is Ohtani. Can't go against it.

This was a fantastic round 1! It was good to see all of Alto's and Xeno X suceeding their matches, even against difficult rivals. I'm excited to see what's next for bracket.

Please win, Sweet pea! I've had enough heartache already in Bracket D. Ah, World's End. Now this is one of my preferred Blue Reflection tracks! And End of the Summer sounds so happy that it makes me feel so happy :)

WHAT IS WITH THIS DAY BEING SO DANG LONG?! I'd probably vote -[PROTEASE] just on principle even if it weren't good, but it's a 13 Sentinels song so of course it's amazing. Suite Photoconductivity is also too long for my tastes, and has some parts I don't like, but World's End is trash. Third match is two great songs.

The Grand Finale gets my vote for match 3, BUT End of Summer is a very close second. Both are fantastic.

I like the last 7 minutes or so of Suite, unfortunately it's weighed down by the rest. It wouldn't make a difference here though because World's End is too neat. Where Suite is too busy at the best of times and I don't love the mixing of the different instruments, World's End is comparatively simple and compelling. OK 'simple' may not be the right word with all the weird tempo and tone shifting that goes on and the strange feeling the track evokes, but it all feels reasonably cohesive. The wavy strings coming in at 5:45 remind me of something but I don't remember what!

I never got the fuss over Bowser finale, it's a fine enough 'epic' final boss song but I don't think there's anything special here. End of Summer is a cool song to cap off the round, it's 2D Sonic doing what 2D Sonic does best. There's quite a bit going on and the song moves around more than I first thought it did, but it all works and it never loses its sense of playful chillness.

Suite Photoconductivity is the other song from nominations that I haven't listened to yet. I really like Remi's vocals in the intro of Iron Fossil. Really neat percussion once it gets going. Mist has some really nice ambient effects to go with the vocals. Bolt and Sword takes a different turn with the more DnB style percussion. This Tune does get a bit repetitive around the 10:30 mark and other parts, but it's not bad. The section starting at 12:09 is really cool. Nice rhythm and synths here. Haze is another nice ambient transition section. Tyrant starts out with a very mysterious vibe, which is different. Not a fan of the percussion in the buildup of this section, nor when it's used after the drop. It kinda overtakes the mix. Probably my least favorite Tune of the Suite, but it's not awful. Guidance starts off in a pretty interesting way with the music box type sound. Then I really like the last part with the vocals and synths again. Good way to finish it all off. Iron Fossil and Guidance were definitely my favorite Tunes here. But the full suite was pretty solid. I definitely appreciate when full versions of songs are submitted for these types of contests rather than choosing specific sections to submit, so thanks for that, NFUN.

World's End was another highlight for me from Blue Reflection 2. Especially the first part with the piano, synths, and the random effects that create sort of a "end of the world" type vibe, which I suppose was the intention. The only thing that bugs me about this song is how out-of-place the piano section at 2:34 feels to the rest of it. I don't dislike Asano piano, but it feels like he just forced it in there for fun. Fortunately, it's really short, so it doesn't take away too much from the overall composition. Probably gonna vote for this one, but it's a close match.

The Grand Finale is a classic. One of Shimomura's better compositions. Good melody and solid instrumentation, despite the DS's limitations. Good song.

End of the Summer is a cute ending song for the VGMC field. I like the piano melody here. There's some nice basswork in this as well. Still gonna lean towards The Grand Finale though.

Well, that's it for Round 1. I will say that you guys largely picked a very good and varied field. I enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to the rest of the contest.

Suite has a lot of good shit in there, though it's still dumb that people would nominate something so long, and some parts aren't that interesting. World's End reminds me of some better songs from BR1, and is solid.

Grand Finale's always been one of the best Mario Luigi songs, if not #1, though it's held back a bit by the sound quality. End of the Summer is one of the good Sonic songs. Nice fourpack today.

While prime had its moments despite its long length, Photoconductivity isn't to my taste at all, and is up against a better opponent, so it's not a difficult match.

The End ...? Overall I enjoyed Suite, but World's felt a bit more solid to me. I am a bit sensitive to vocals, so i feel as though I probably could have swung the other way if Suite had a few less "aaaaaa" bits or if I was just listening to one of the Tunes in isolation. Either way, I don't regret listening to it at all.

The intro to In the Final is like really good. I just can't get into the rest of the song though. :x Sorry Bowser, I still love you.

M1: Am I masochistic for going for the exceedingly long song? Perhaps not - its alternative, after all, was something that I described as something that exceeds the boundaries of good taste (the sanitized version: I enjoyed it except the physically painful parts.) Also, I'm kind of a sucker for the "AaaaAAAHH" thing (Trish's theme is one of my favorites from MvC3, after all.)
M2: With respect to M&L, but I just enjoy the Sonic one that reminds me way too much of the better tunes from Unleashed.
