Yeah, brought up that opening in the most recent "has a video game made you cry" topic. That opening hits like a ton of bricks. Both games are amazing! The sequel has way better gameplay mechanics (largely influenced by Hollow Knight) and both games have 10/10 stories. --- - Blur - Welcome to your Divinity. ... Copied to Clipboard!

that's funny because i was just reading, a few weeks ago, i think it was an old neogaf/resetera thread, where the ori dev had started to play hollow knight and was saying they felt the world wasn't tight enough - that every single room in ori served an express purpose, and any room that felt "filler" was cut - whereas hollow knight had lots of long stretches of uninspired rooms. i thought that was a fair criticism - hollow knight definitely has more generic "long vertical passage with no unique design" in it - but that also means the world feels a lot larger, easier to get lost in, to explore - which i think is the spirit of a metroidvania game, and ori doesn't quite have that. i haven't played ori 2 yet though so i'll be curious to see if it was influenced in terms of world design, or maybe other stuff. i'd be happy if the world was bigger and it was a bit less obvious where the next objective is at all times. ... colliding posted... game just doesn't click with me for whatever reason. You're not alone. I played it a few months ago and thought it was decent, but not life-changing or a Top 5 Metroidvania or anything like that. There are some amazing platforming sequences (particularly the escapes) and the art style is gorgeous, but the level design and combat left me feeling underwhelmed. Also, it ended kinda abruptly. --- ~Jacksonville Jaguars~ ... Copied to Clipboard!

Funny cuz I thought the same thing about Hollow Knight (its good but not great) whereas both Ori games I think are absolutely amazing. More so the 2nd than the first. ... Copied to Clipboard!
