You're not alone. I played it a few months ago and thought it was decent, but not life-changing or a Top 5 Metroidvania or anything like that.

There are some amazing platforming sequences (particularly the escapes) and the art style is gorgeous, but the level design and combat left me feeling underwhelmed. Also, it ended kinda abruptly.
It's worth trying the second, which is considered a major improvement in many ways, particularly the combat.

but that also means the world feels a lot larger, easier to get lost in, to explore - which i think is the spirit of a metroidvania game, and ori doesn't quite have that.
Classic Metroids and Castlevanias weren't as big as Hollow Knight!
