I find it funny that the couple of people I know in real life who like Garfield the most are younger people who grew up with Garfield as their spiderman (a little too young to be around when the first set of movies came out). So Garfield is THEIR nostalgia Spiderman. They don't see that though, but are more than willing to throw nostalgia dirt at us McGuire fans. Not a blanket statement of course, and people are free to like whichever Spiderman they prefer, but the nostalgia Toby hate from some of the Garfield fans often comes across as hypocritical to me. --- Don't mind me. I'm of the Tobey appropriate age! I don't hate Tobey, but I've seen like 50 times in this topic people saying something along the lines of "Garfield is a bad/the worst Peter" and I don't think that's fair. I re-watched the Tobey movies not that long ago and Tobey just hasn't held up all that well for me. 1/2 are carried mostly by Dafoe/Molina imo, and with Spidey 3 being as bad as it is, I'm not even necessarily sure the original trilogy is really all that much better than the Garfield movies. You can see this in No Way Home, too, where Garfield is such a better actor than Tobey and it shows almost immediately. IMO of course. Embrace the superior Spider-Man. JOIN US.
